WILLIAM

Just as I expected, after the scene I made in the village of Roan, my father, alpha king, called for me.

For the past years, it has always been like this. My father would try to give me the hardest tasks in the palace to try to tame my barbaric ways but I always overcome the jobs easily and I come home victoriously.

“I heard that you terrorized the villagers again, William,” he said in a cold tone while in his throne in the hall. “What is it this time, William? How did this come into this?!”

“I did not,” I said, shrugging while being uncomfortable in front of his gaze. Or is it the place? Every time I come into the hall, the hair in my nape always stands up. “If you still insist, then you could call for that person who reported me so he could tell me about that face to face. Or was it a she? I don’t know. That doesn’t matter, right?”

The alpha king clenched his jaws and breathed out a sigh harshly and motioned for my mother by his side to deal with me.

The queen luna rose up from her seat and walked up to me. She reached for my hand and touched my face gently.

The gesture is familiar as if she is not the only one who always does that to me. I shook my head. Silly. I never let my ex-wives touch me this way.

“My son, what has gotten into you again? Why are you being like this all of the sudden?”

I just looked at her emptily and stayed silent because I also didn't know. Something changed in me but I don’t know what it is and why.

My mother looked at the alpha king. “My love, I guess it’s time to find another wife for William.”

That’s when I let out a laugh at the ridiculous suggestion. “Mother, what makes you think a woman would straighten me? I had two wives before and look where they are now?”

I chuckled and scratched my forehead. No woman can endure my ways. “They still want me as their husbands for the benefits that they would get from me but they are too afraid of me.”

At that point, the alpha king stood up from his throne and walked towards me. I remembered how he used to tower over me but now, we are already the same height and build so now I can look him in the eyes without being intimidated by his power.

“What do you want to ask in exchange for properly behaving, William? Come on, tell us,” he asked me in a low tone.

“I am not a kid anymore, father. You cannot bribe me with candy.”

I clenched my jaws when I stared back at my mother. The memory is still fresh in my mind when he ordered her to be locked and shipped away from the palace.

“I guess you made me this way. The second you sent Francine away, that was the start of my landfall. Or is it really? Or maybe this was the real me after all, father.”

My mother gazed miserably at my father who can only sigh in disappointment to themselves or to me. I don’t know anymore.

“Right. I got something on my mind,” I continued after seconds of silence. “If you bring Francine back, then I will marry a woman that you will choose for me and I will be a good husband to her and a better father to our future children. How is that, hmm?”

“That is out of the question, my son.” The queen luna cupped my face. “Francine cannot return here anymore.”

“And until now, I don’t know what she did! Did she commit a crime? Stealing? Killing?” I stepped backwards from my mother. “I also did all of that so why don’t you send me away too?”

“So, do you want to be a rogue wolf now?!” The alpha king grabbed my collar. “An outcast of the whole state?!”

“I just want to know what the person who literally raised me up from baby to adulthood did for you to do that to her!”

I saw the pain cross my mother’s eyes as her voice broke. “William…”

I felt guilty seeing my mother like this but my heart bled for Francine.

The alpha king hugged his wife and looked at me coldly. “Fine, alpha prince. We will bring back Francine in the palace on one condition.”

He threw a map to me which I easily caught with my hands.

“We have new information about the whereabouts of the lycan prince. You know what you have to do.”

Just one look at the complicated map and I already memorized it. “Consider it done, father.”

Without wasting any more time, I went out to gather my soldiers and raid the jungle where the village is situated deep into the forest.

As far as I know, we have been looking for him for years now because of the considerable damage he did against us.

“Kill all the men who tried to fight back! Take all the women and kids as slaves!” I ordered my men when we saw the houses nearby. “Burn all their houses and anything that stands tall! Make this place turn into ashes!”

“Yes, alpha prince!”

As we attacked the village, screams of mercies, agony, and fury rose into the air.

We did not spare anyone who tried to fight against us. We killed each and everyone who tried to raise their arms against us.

When we were finished, we separated the living people and put the dead bodies on a mound.

“Alpha prince, it appears that the lycan alpha in this pack is not around,” Lucas reported to me while I am making sure that no one is playing dead.

“Let him be. We will hunt him next time. Now, burn all the corpses.”

“Alpha prince!” Lucas exclaimed with widened eyes. “We should at least bury them out of respect for their souls.”

The cries of women and children pierced my ears as I growled at his face. “Then I can bury you too alongside them, Lucas.”

He gulped, bowed his head down, and poured gasoline as their families watched in horror.

“Come on now! Let us go back home!” I yelled and shifted into my wolf as the scent of the burning flesh filled the entire forest.
