ALANA

The days after our conversation with the alpha king happened, we tried to live our lives as happy and as carefree as we wanted to be five years ago while not forgetting to take our revenge against those who wronged us.

The alpha king ordered a decree for Lucas to immediately produce an offspring- a move that got Sophia kneeling her knees before me and kissing my feet despite her whole system being disgusted.

“Please tell the alpha king to withdraw the order. Aria, I am begging you! I cannot do it! I cannot sleep with Lucas!”

But I just cruelly laughed at her and stomped her hand with my heels.

“Why can’t you have sex with the beta? Just think that it’s just another night with the alphas that you have slept with, Sophia. I bet that is not a hard thing for you to do. After all, you are used to selling your body just to have what you want. What makes it all different to do it now with Lucas?”

She gasped in shock upon hearing my words. “Are you hearing yourself? Why are you so cruel to me?! You are a woman too! You should know how fucking difficult it is to force yourself to do something you don’t want to! Aria, do something now! Tell the alpha prince to ask the alpha king to remove the order!”

“Why would I?” I asked, laughing. “Why would I do that when I love to see you suffering, Sophia?”

“What? Why do you fucking hate me so much when I did not do anything to you?!” she cried out. “I did not do anything to you, Aria! You are the one who ruined my marriage with William so you should be guilty and help me now!”

I pulled at her hair and twisted it against my hand. “I have no intention of ever helping you, Sophia.”

My voice trailed off when I remembered how deep I suffered before because of her doing.

She bit her lip and wept. “You will have your karma soon, Aria! I swear!”

I smirked bitterly when I recalled all of the things I went through in their hands. The years of being abused took a toll on my mind and body that for years I thought I am not worthy to receive love.

If William did not find and rescue me, then I would have still been living that poor sad life I had there.

“Did you think about that while you are maltreating Alana?” Strands of her hair being uprooted from her head remained in my hand even when I moved to choke her. “She asked for you to stop but what did you do?! You continued pouncing on her like a predator! You never for once let her breath! You have stolen everything that should be hers in the first place because the alpha cannot amass such wealth if it were not for her mother! Now, suffer with your consequences!”

I did not realize that I was already breaking her bones. If not for her howl of pain, I would not notice that her arm and hands looked limp and detached from her shoulders.

The door opened and Minerva came rushing into us in horror of witnessing her only daughter crying in extreme pain. “What are you doing with my daughter?! Let her go!”

“Guards!”

Two soldiers appeared in the doorway. “Yes, Ms. Aria.”

“Take Minerva away and charge her for disobeying the alpha prince!”

They seized her by the arms and dragged her away.

She gasped in confusion while struggling to come into terms that a prostitute could do this to her. “I did not disobey the alpha prince! What authority do you have to do this to us?! You are only a whore!”

“Slap her,” I commanded the guard who did it flawlessly causing a cut on her mouth.

“Mommy! That is my mother you are hurting, you fools!” Sophia screamed. “How dare you, Aria?! Why are you doing what she’s telling you?! I am going to report this to the alpha king!”

I just slapped her face as an answer. “The alpha prince gave his full authority to me so I could do whatever I want to do to you, Sophia.”

I looked into the eyes of Minerva where I could clearly see the pain watching her daughter suffer. “Minerva, it must have been pretty funny to see your own daughter getting treated this way. You might have thought you could get away with your crimes but not now. Not when I am here.”

And with that, I left the room as the guards dragged Minerva away leaving Sophia locked inside yelling for help that will never come.

I sighed and calmed my notoriously beating heart as I leaned on the wall holding my chest only to look up when I sensed that someone was staring at me.

I straightened my back when I saw Lucas studying my face.

“Why are you just standing there? Go and help your wife inside, beta,” I said sarcastically.

He walked towards me, his eyes heavy on my face.

“With the way you are acting right now, I am having a hard time believing you are Alana but I can see the fire in your eyes as if you are getting back on us.”

I laughed while fixing my hair. “Whether I am Alana or not, that doesn’t matter anymore, Lucas. I am enjoying my power over everyone. No one tells me that this feels so intoxicating that I want to feel more.”

I stuck out my tongue and then bit my lower lip while playfully tugging at my hair. “Who knows that it could be you next, beta.”

I left him standing frozen to wait for William on the border. He has gone into five separate countries in the hopes that some miracle would happen. We kept looking for a cure that could help us reverse our karmic fate but to no avail.

The sun set and the plane just landed on the horizon. William, with his face defeated and body battered, climbed down the stairs, his eyes immediately finding me, relief washing all over his face.

Our arms found each other as sighs filled our hearts.

“William, I think it’s time to stop now. Let’s just accept whatever this is, okay? It’s still love, William. What we have for each other is still the same even without the cure.”

He did not reply but his tight embrace tells me that he won’t stop looking. He won’t stop trying until the moon goddess grants us the answer.
