WILLIAM

I bowed before my parents when I arrived at the hall. “Father, mother, you are back.”

My mother ran up to me, opening her arms towards me giving me a tight and big hug. “Oh, my son! What’s with the cold treatment my alpha prince?”

She chuckled but I cannot return the enthusiastic treatment since the betrayal of what they did to me is still fresh in my mind.

I don’t think I could ever forgive them for what they’d done to me and Alana.

The alpha king grunted in his seat while staring at me.

“I heard from Sophia that you brought home a woman.”

I laughed bitterly and shook my head in annoyance. “And she did not fail to report that to you.”

My father stood up, his brows furrowed because apparently, he wanted me to be the best husband there is for someone that he knew right from the very start that I despise because of what she did to Alana.

That, to me, is one of the biggest betrayals he can do against me on top of manipulating me to forget Alana.

“William, I already told you to behave and act like a respectable husband to her! You agreed to marry her and the least you could have done is to respect her because we know you can never love her!”

I clenched my hands and tried to keep my cool so he would not suspect that I got all my memories back.

I did not agree to the marriage because he left me with no choice. 

“You are right, father, that I can never love her. That is why I am divorcing her right away.”

He gasped in surprise while my mother was just standing on the side in silence. “I will not let that happen! I will not let our family go through the same thing when you divorced Georgia! You are still going to be married to Sophia and that is final!”

He walked back to his throne but I blocked his path and looked him in the eye. Where is my father who promised to guide me all the way to his throne as the alpha king? Why can’t I see that anymore now?

“How long are you going to keep on meddling with my life, father? It’s my life to live, not yours to dictate! I don’t want to be your heir anymore if you keep on intruding on how I live!”

“William!”

The queen luna quickly ran in the middle of us to stop the alpha king.

“Alpha king, it’s enough!”

My father stared at her in shock at the interruption. “Honey…”

“Please, just let our son be.” She held my arm and fought her tears back. “He’s right. We have meddled into his life too much.”

“It’s for his own good, my queen!”

“Honey, look at him!” she said in the most resolute voice I have ever heard from her. “Take a good look at him and tell me if what we did to him is the best for him! Can you still recognize our precious little William that loves us so much? Look at his eyes! I cannot see any joy in them anymore! He’s empty and is only motivated by his cruelty! He is not the same child that we swore to care and love for, my alpha king!”

My father went silent as my mother caressed my face gently.

“William, I am so sorry for doing that to you. My son, if only I was stronger, I would have stopped it. I would not have let it happen.”

I remembered her voice outside the operating room before I lost my consciousness on that second. My mother is still my mother who feels twice the pain that her son is experiencing.

“Honey…” The alpha king tried to reach for her hand but she stepped back rejecting him.

“Don’t talk to me if you are not yet ready to admit your faults five years ago,” she said and left the hall.

I looked at my father and said my decision aloud.

“I will stay true with my decision, alpha king. I will divorce Sophia and no one can stop me from doing so.”

After the ordeal at the hall, I immediately went back to the medicine laboratory where I left Alana. I just knew she would love it there since she’s an impeccable healer and how she loved making potions and medicine back then.

“Is that… Is that Alana?”

My steps slowed down when I saw Sophia peeping through the window glasses staring at Alana inside.

She gasped and put a hand on her mouth. “Is she the person that I thought her to be?”

She must have not seen her face properly during their brawl for her to get this shocked at looking at Alana.

“She looked so much like her but I know she’s dead! She’s dead!”

“What are you talking about?” I said behind her.

Jumping up into her feet, she swiftly turned around and acknowledged me, her eyes wide with fear.

“Alpha prince!”

“What did you say? What did you call Aria?”

She gulped and shook her head repeatedly but I already caught the lie in her eyes. “Nothing, nothing, William.”

Grabbing my hands, she fluttered her eyes while squeezing her breast together to give me a show.

“When will you make her leave? William, please do not do this to your own wife. You know how the alpha king wants our relationship to work and the presence of that woman is not helping you in any way.”

She tried to press her body against mine but a warning on my face stopped her.

“I know how you want to be the alpha king. Do this for your dreams, William. I will just be right here by your side as your luna.”

I slapped her hands away from mine and then put my hands in my pockets, glancing at Alana inside who’s busy smelling the leaf of a plant. “You are not the person I want to wake up with every morning by my side. You are just an empty shell of a person, Sophia. You have no substance.”

She gasped before speaking in a broken voice. “W-William, why are you saying that?”

“What I only want to say is that I am divorcing you effective today.”

The look on her face as I dropped the bomb is priceless and I will make sure that I will see that expression on her face every day from now on. “W-What…”

I grinned at her, giving her a bit of a peek into the cruel personality that I currently have. “And oh, please know that I will not let you leave the palace that easily because I will still make you pay for all the things that you did.”
