ALANA

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling a bit too cold even when I was under the thick blankets.

I can sense that something wrong is in the air.

Smelling the air, the hair on my back stood up when I smelled blood just a few kilometers from the palace.

“Goodness! William!”

Running towards the door, the only thing in my head is William. They are definitely lycans under the guidance of Zuleik. And there are many! So many that I easily lost track of their numbers.

And I know what they want! They are after William so bad!

I opened the door to leave only to step back in the room when Sophia greeted me with a snarl from her half-shifted form. Her whole body is already in its wolf form while her upper part is still in human form. Her eyes are filled with dark veins proving that she will turn into her wolf at any second now.

She grinned when she saw a frightened look on my face.

“Where are you going at this hour, Aria?” she asked sinisterly, closing the door behind her using her tail. “It’s kinda late. Are you going to go outside to play? Hmm?”

I continued stepping back as dread filled me when I felt the forces of the lycans crossing the borders of the forests silently killing the soldiers stationed there.

“Why are you going back like a coward, Aria?” She clawed the walls as she slowly stalked me all the way until I reached the end of the room.

“I think it’s the perfect timing. Minutes from now, the moon is going to turn red and this whole place will bleed out blood. You are actually in the right place, Aria, just like Alana. Sorry for your ass but just like your whole kind, you will be branded as a traitor.”

I gasped when I realized the truth of what was happening. William is out there to inspect the men they caught who attacked the garrison. Anger surged through me when I looked back at Sophia.

“You are the traitor! You are the one the alpha king has been talking about who let the enemies attack the garrison!”

“It’s all your fault!” she yelled as she caught my arm and buried her claws into my flesh. “You are the one who made me think about this plan! If you did not come here and ruin my life with William, then I would not have been able to do this! You will pay, Aria! You will greatly pay!”

She turned her back to the door. “You! What are you waiting for?! Fucking come in and deal with this fucking woman!”

The door gently opened and that man came in with a bloodthirst glint in his eyes.

“Zuleik…” I whispered when I got an eerie feeling about all this.

Sophia and Zuleik are working together. If I am right, which I know I am, Sophia collaborated with him to open the borders so the lycans could get in and ambush the whole palace.

That is the dumbest move I have ever known in my entire life!

“Sophia, what did you just do?! Do you even know who is him?!”

From the outside, roars of the packs of lycans bypassed the walls attacking the guards on the grounds as bloodshed began drenching the grass.

She scratched my face, which made Zuleik snarl at her back. “I know what I am doing, Aria. I am fucking getting rid of you!”

She walked back to the door laughing as if she accomplished something here.

“Sophia, fuck you! You don’t know what you just did! You are just going to let people get massacred here!”

But she just dismissed me again like the big fool that she is. “Oh, I know what I am doing, Aria. I just did. I will be the hero that will save the entire palace from being ravaged by these lycans while I give you back to the one who really owns you.”

She left the room laughing like a lunatic while I am forced to face Zuleik who’s staring at my face.

“You already remembered who you are, Alana,” he said in a tone that didn't need confirmation at all.

“You are right, Zuleik, so I want you to leave and stop all this madness. I am willing to negotiate with the alpha king for pardon.”

I glanced outside and bit my lips when I could only see fighting all over the place.

“You are only pushing your men into death! That is not what a leader should be!”

“I am just here to take what’s rightfully mine!” He gripped my shoulders tightly. “You should too! You are a lycan and the rightful heir of your grandfather’s regime. Do not betray your own true blood! We should be reigning over the whole state, not the fucking alpha king and his fucking family!”

I clenched my hands together as my vision started to be painted red. Once I go off, I will not be able to separate anyone. I could not go berserk this time!

“Alana!”

I glanced at William on the door who’s on the verge of transforming. Our eyes connected and I was able to convey to him the message that I want to get across.

Zuleik noticed this and roared to interrupt our connection.

“I am your mate, Alana! This fucking alpha prince already rejected you so you should obey me! I own you!”

William growled from behind him. “Deal with me you coward. I’ll show you a one-way ticket to hell!”

The alpha prince roared and transformed into his wolf as he lunged into the lycan prince who is also in his beast form.

I do not have to command my wolf to come out anymore. In a split of a second, I jumped into the air out of the window and landed on the land in the middle of the fighting fully shifted into my majestic wolf roaring wildly towards the lycans who were beginning to spill into the palace.

An unshifted lycan aimed his silver gun at me but before he could fire, William already bit his head off before howling, re-shifting into his human form, and coming into me in an instant as we face Zuleik and his pack of army.

“Easy, Alana,” William whispered in my ear while massaging my coat gently when he sensed that I was losing control again. “Easy, okay?”
