ALANA

“Ambassadress, Alpha Killian is here again. Do you want me to take care of him this time? The alpha prince told me I will act based on your decision.”

I clenched my hands together and looked up at Lucas who’s waiting for my decision. I know why he’s here again. It’s about what I did to Sophia and Minerva again. I am sure he is seething with anger again at me because I dare to hurt her own family.

But I am his family too. I am his daughter but why is it too easy for him to hurt me? I asked in my head but did not get any answer.

“Let him in,” I said and finally decided to face him this time.

Sooner or later. I know we are still going to see each other. I just cannot continue avoiding him forever especially when I am trying to take my justice.

My father, the alpha, should pay the biggest price for tormenting me for years.

I have to face him. I cannot just hide in William’s back forever. I just can't let him endanger his life for me.

“Are you sure, Alana?” Lucas asked, surprised that I will open the doors for my cruel father. “Will you feel alright?” He held my hands on the table and squeezed them together in worry. “Please tell me you will be okay.”

I smiled at him as I pulled my hands from his grasp. Lucas must have been a really nice and warm guy for him to be this worried about me. “I will be fine, Lucas. Thank you for your worries. Let him in.”

Lucas sighed and walked to the door to open it. My father entered the room in one powerful stride, his eyes locking at mine instantly.

I gulped the acid in my mouth as I felt my hands getting colder than ever.

“Dad,” I addressed him and cleared my throat.

Sweat began trickling down my back and I had the urge to run to William again.

I don’t think I can do this. I don’t think I could face my father when he’s looking like he is ready to whip me again.

“Can you leave us?” Killian asked Lucas. “The alpha prince threatened my whole family if I ever hurt the ambassadress so there is no way I would do that to Alana.”

Lucas turned to me for an answer and I nodded. He sighed and opened the door. “I will only be outside, ambassadress. Just call my name and I will be here to protect you.”

After Lucas left, I was forced to face him all alone. In just a few mere seconds, it felt like I am back again in that small dark room pleading for him to stop whipping me.

The way he is staring at me right now, filled with disgust, reminded me of the way he always looked at me then.

Nothing has changed. From then until now, he still thinks I am a monster.

“Do you know why I never loved you for once?” he said after a minute of silence.

I lifted my eyes at him as the heaviness in my heart intensified.

All I wanted in my whole life was to be seen and be loved by my own father but he showed me the opposite.

I blinked the tears away before speaking. “Why, dad? Why have you not loved me since then? I am your daughter. You loved and married my mother so I cannot understand why you have hated me ever since.”

“Because you are not my daughter,” he broke the truth right in front of me in a monotone unfeeling voice that I thought he was just telling me that he will not give me any food for today because I made a huge mistake. “You are the fruit of your mother’s cheating against me! Your face reminded me of the way your mother stabbed me at my back with a lowly man! Now, tell me if what I did to you is not just an act of revenge.”

My mouth fell open at the revelation. So, Sophia was telling me the truth. I am not his child! I am a product of my mother’s cheating!

“No…” I shook my head and covered my mouth to prevent a sob from coming out. “That is not possible. They all told me my mother loves you so much. She cannot do that to you, dad!”

Killian only threw me a ruthless look. “I am willing to undergo a DNA test if that is the only way to prove that you are not my blood at all and that you are an unwanted person in this world born out of a sin!”

At that point, I was not really able to hold back my tears anymore. I sat back on my chair holding onto the edge of the table to help me from collapsing onto the floor.

All along I am not his child. That explains why he hated me so much. That explains why he always beat me up and would rather love Sophia than me.

But is he really telling the truth? My mother has no way of defending herself. William told me there are always two sides in the story. I have heard the one but how about the other one?

“Now that you know all I did to you was justified, I want you to stop torturing Sophia and Minerva just because you think you have some power over them now. I have all the right to do that to you, Alana. Minerva and Sophia have all the right to discipline you!”

I bit my tongue and tasted my blood.

Does me being a child out of cheating gave them the right to treat me like I am not a person? Would that undo all the abuses I experienced in their hands?!

I raised my face at him and for the first time since I was a child, I did not feel scared. Alpha Killian is not that fearsome for me anymore.

He is simply just an abusive man who decided to take out his frustration into a child. My teacher told me before that the most cowardly man is one that lashes at weak people.

“I am just a child! I am innocent!” I put a hand on my chest when I felt something that wanted to come out from it. “How could you decide to exact your revenge against someone as young as me?! I do not know anything about it! I am just a child who wanted her father to see her!”

My entire face was drenched in my tears blinding me from seeing the man whom I have strived to impress. That is why I still wanted him to be proud of me for becoming the ambassadress. I wanted him to at least look at me with pride in his eyes.

As far-fetched as it may seem, I want him to call me his daughter even if it takes years.

For the life in me, I would want to spare him from my revenge plan.

But he only looked at me the same thing as before. He has never seen me as his daughter because I am not and I would never be one. I am the subject of his ire and hate for my mother.

“Alana, I told you already before that if you keep on acting like a brat, no one will like you. No one will love you. You are enjoying the attention of the alpha prince now because he sees you as his toy that he can play with when he’s bored. When that boredom passes and the real job of the alpha prince as the next alpha king will come into play, do you think he will still look at you? Do you think he will still give you attention?”

I laughed emptily as I dried off my tears.

“A powerful man like the alpha prince will not waste any time with a small-time girl like you.”

“No, you are wrong,” I said while meeting his eyes with my empty ones. “Even after everything, I know William will still be there for me. He loves me, Alpha Killian. He told me he will give me the world if I ever want it to have.”

My face became ferocious as I walked up to him to challenge him. “If I ask him now for Sophia and Minerva’s heads, I know he will gladly give them to me in your favorite golden platter, Alpha Killian.”
