The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 43
Alana
“Why Alana? Are the memories back? Did you finally remember who you really are?” Sophia squeezed my chin and grinned at the fear that is slowly creeping at my body. “You are not by the side of the alpha prince anymore. You are back here in your prison, little mutt. Have you forgotten how you begged daddy to stop whipping you or how you licked the floor just for me to give you a piece of bread?”
Her smile turned into laughter when tears fell from my eyes. “That’s right, Alana. Cry! Cry some more! Remember who you are in this family! You are just nothing but a rag mat in this family!”
My whole body trembled as more tears flowed down my eyes. My nightmares are materialized again. The years of abuse right in the hands of my own family came back to me that not even the kind of love and care William showed me can erase.
Sophia let out another hearty laugh seeing my reaction. “I think by now, you have returned to your senses. So now, you should return the funds for my house. I need that house finished this week, okay? You heard me, right?”
She tapped my cheek lightly while still wearing that wicked grin on her face. “You will do that for me, okay? You will do that for your sweet older sister, okay? Because if you won’t, I will tell daddy everything and he will lock you back in that dirty smelly little cage of yours that I know you missed so much by now.”
My whole body shook upon the mention of that place that I would never ever want to return to ever again. Despite doing my best not to show her my reaction, I cannot help but be such a transparent person to her. The horrors I experienced there did something to my brain that I don’t think I would ever move on from.
She pulled my hair and asked me again, “You will do that, right Alana?”
My tears stopped falling. “No,” I answered in a low voice.
Her eyes widened in surprise. “What? No?!”
She raised her hand to slap but the door slammed open and Francine came in and ran in a rush towards me and shoved Sophia away.
“You bitch!” Francine growled, her eyes turned red and her fangs were beginning to grow out as she’s ready to transform to attack Sophia who had gone pale in the corner.
I reached for Francine’s arm to stop her. “N-No, Francine. Please…”
She quickly relaxed and returned back into her normal form as Sophia scrambled out of the door.
“Alana, are you okay?” She wiped my tears dry and embraced my shuddering body. “Tell me, what did that fucking bitch did to you! I will handle her!”
I broke free from her hold and looked her in the eyes. “Francine, it does not matter what she did to me. I can handle it all by myself. But can I ask you a favor? Please?”
She nodded fervently. “Sure, Alana. Anything for the ambassadress and the mate of the alpha prince.”
Lucas drove me to the place where Sophia’s house is almost finished. Just as I thought, it’s an extravagant house that is not worthy of all the money of the village.
“Alana, should we start now?” Lucas asked after we disembarked.
“Yes, you may start.”
He, Francine and the rest of the guards started pouring gasoline all over the house. It spilled onto the grass and even in the construction supplies that are rotting nearby.
After they were done, Francine handed me the lighter.
“Do the honor, Alana.”
I gladly lit the fire and threw it onto the house as fire devoured the whole house. The scorching heat blinded us for a second so Lucas had to pull me a few meters from the house.
“What the hell are you all doing?! No! No!” Sophia wailed from the distance upon seeing her beloved house being consumed by the ravaging fire.
“Alana! Make them stop! Make them stop!” she cried while pointing at the house.
She came up to me but could not get towards me because of my guards.
“What are you doing?! Why are you not doing something?! I told you to make it stop! Make the fire stop, Alana! Oh god! My house!”
She kept on shouting at everyone to save her house but no one budge without my orders. When the second floor turned into ash making Sophia shriek into madness, I slowly approached her. She’s on the ground, reduced to tears and yelling at the top of her lungs.
“Did you already realize something by now, Sophia?” I said looking down at her.
She is in a state of shock watching how the house she boasted to her friends now is just a mere pile of fire and ashes.
“What?” she whispered out of breath from the incessant shouting.
“That between the two of us, it’s you who cannot do anything,” I replied, relishing the helplessness on her face. It does not look good on anyone. I wonder how I looked lying in that dirt-ridden room. For sure, I did not look helpless. I looked way worse than that. Maybe I looked like someone who has given up on life already. And Sophia does not have any idea how awful it is to feel like that.
Thinking about that, I taunted her. “You want that fire to stop? Then make it stop yourself. Go and fetch some water on your own.”
“You must be kidding! I cannot put out the fire by myself! And look at my house! It’s already crumbling!”
I pulled her hair and leaned over her ear to whisper. “Then just watch the fire eat your precious house, Sophia. Say goodbye to your own fucking house and then you tell me if it’s fun to watch it being gone into waste just like how you used to watch me back then as I played with my own waste just for a scrap of bread from you.”
We left the scene and Sophia, who is still on the ground, still shocked by everything that had happened.
That night, I did not have even an hour of decent sleep because of recurring nightmares. No, they are not just dreams. They are memories of my bitter past.
“William,” I spoke in my head while my shoulders shook and my pillows soaked with tears. “I want to see you, my love. I want to feel you. It hurts so much to be here.”
