ALANA

“William…” I called his name over and over again while basking inside the most familiar and most comfortable warmth of his body.

“I am Alana, William. I am… was your mate!” I explained while my tears continued pouring down.

My feelings inside were mixed. I felt angry, sad, betrayed, relieved, and revengeful that I don’t know what to feel first. But all I know is that I am filled with so much happiness for finally remembering it all even if it’s five years late.

My heart is in rebellion for the people who made me forget the man that I vowed that I would be for the rest of my life.

William gave me a relieved smile and sighed after planting a deep long kiss on my head. “I thank the moon goddess for finally letting you remember. Alana, she gave you back to me.”

I smiled back, nodding and taking in his appearance. I should have trusted my gut more. Those things, places, and people that felt familiar to me should have been my clue to dig deeper about the truth. But instead, I let myself drown in my personality as the lycan Aria.

With my hands trembling, I spoke in a soft manner when I remembered what I did to him. “William, I am sorry for not remembering you sooner. I’m sorry for only coming back now. I’m sorry for…” I gulped when I felt so awful that that thing really crossed my mind, “I’m sorry for thinking of trying to kill you by poisoning you.”

I broke into another sob but William just held me and wiped off my tears.

“I should be the one who should say sorry to you. I’m sorry for not being able to save you before, for being so weak and letting them make me forget you.”

He caressed my face as his eyes sparkled against mine. “I’m sorry for being cruel for the last five years. I lost myself and my identity because I felt not myself every day of my life. I know you don’t want me to be like that. You always wished for me to be a wise and kind alpha king to the pack.”

He gasped again for air when he couldn't hold it anymore. “I’m sorry for not being able to save you, Alana, when I promised that I would protect you from everyone. I constantly disappointed you, my love. Remember the tests and when I rejected you, goodness, I wanted to kill myself for doing that to you. I do not want to reject you. You are mine. You are my mate, Alana.”

He pulled me into his arms and pressed his head against mine while taking in my scent. My tears bubbled out uncontrollably again when I remembered that he always does that to me when apologizing or making me feel that he will always be there for me.

“You saved me now and that is all that matters,” I whispered against his lips. “No looking back from our past, William. This all happened for a reason. The moon goddess allowed this to happen for a purpose.”

He let out a sharp sigh and looked into my eyes, asking for permission that my tears welled again. How could someone love me like this? How could someone who is not my mate anymore, make me feel so connected and secured with him?

“You know I want that too,” I murmured as I crossed our distance to taste his waiting lips.

He growled and kissed me softly at first but he couldn't seem to get enough from me that he had to stop, took a long breath and continued kissing me slowly.

“You can kiss me hard, William.” I smiled at him and straddled on his lap in the middle of this mountain. “Come on, kiss me hard, William. I miss kissing you.”

I didn’t have to continue telling him that because he caught my lips again and began kissing me in the deepest, most passionate way possible.

He’s literally eating me, making me literally out of breath but I don’t mind. He can always take my breath away.

My hands moved around his neck and closed my eyes, our tongues fighting the sweetest battle there is.

“I love you, Alana,” he whispered while panting for air.

“I love you more, William.”

We stayed there for a while, just hugging and petting each other, trying to let the fact that we remembered each other sink in.

“I believe Zuleik was the one who tripped you in that cliff,” he began after minutes of just staring and smiling at each other in love.

“I also believed that too. While I was in his village, he acted so strange around me.”

He clenched his jaws and moved his head to the sigh to control his anger.

“Once I encounter him again, I will make sure to take his head as a souvenir and offer it before you.” He brushed my hair to the side and patted my head. “What did he do to you when you were there? Tell me everything, Alana.”

I touched his cheeks and assured him with a peck on the lips. “He didn’t force me to do anything against my will and I didn’t do anything against my will either. For years, all I did was to be away from him as much as possible. I have been unknowingly loyal to you ever since.”

“So do I.” He held my hand and raised it on his mouth to kiss it. “I’ve never been with any other woman in the last few years. Those two marriages I had were nothing. They meant nothing to me because I couldn't even touch them because it felt like I was cheating on someone.”

We can’t help but giggle at that. Even though we are no longer each other’s mates in the standards, still we yearn only for each other.

“Can we keep this a secret for a while?” I asked him after a few minutes of just staring at each other.

He nodded and gazed at my eyes. “Whatever you wish, Alana. While doing that, we should make sure to make those people pay for what they did to us.”

“I love that.”

He smiled back and pulled me by my neck. “I love you more,” he said as he kissed me again and again.
