ALANA

I paused when I felt something big stalking behind me. Flesh trembling, I slowly turned around to see the biggest gray wolf that I had ever seen in my whole life with its uncanny red eyes staring down at me.

I gasped, my knees began to shake as its powerful paws started taking a step towards me. I tightened my grip on the deer on my shoulders when it smelled it.

I won’t ever let it take the deer. It’s my sacrifice towards the moon goddess. William gave it to me and I would never back down without a fight at anyone that would snatch it away from me.

“Back down,” I said with my voice shaking. “I said back down!”

The gray wolf with its saliva dripping from its sides of the mouth just continued walking towards me until I was cornered with a tree behind me.

“I said back down!” I growled as I felt the urge to let out Malaika. “Back down!” I growled again and again, my fur spurting out from my skin.

The fear I once felt with this animal is now gone and I was overwhelmed with the feeling of power. I suddenly felt like I could take on anyone at this point just so I could deliver the offer of the deer to the moon goddess.

The animal immediately sat down, its tail started wagging like it just found its owner. I guess it’s just a normal wolf. It is not a werewolf to begin with for it to act like a pet dog.

I let out a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat off my brows.

“Thank good-”

Whatever I am going to say was immediately cut off when the animal shifted into a man and knelt before me.

“I have finally found you, our princess.”

I let out a shriek at the sudden twist of happenings. Falling into the floor of the wet forest, I covered my mouth and blinked several times when I realized that it was actually a werewolf.

But it felt like he was not, so what is he?

“Alana, after years and years of searching the whole state, I have finally lay my eyes on you now. Princess, we have been looking for you since ages ago.”

I don’t know what to feel at this moment. I am embarrassed because of this naked man in front of me and at the same time surprised because he addressed me as the princess.

“Who are you? Why… h-how did you know me?” I asked, stuttering especially when he stood up so I had to look away.

“Princess Alana, how can you ask me when you should feel an instant connection with me?” The man gazed at my face and offered his hand to me. “Alana, I am Zuleik, your one and only mate. How could you not recognize me, my mate?”

At that point, I cannot really understand what I am feeling anymore. In fact, I felt like I cannot feel anything anymore because of the influx of too many emotions.

A mate? This werewolf that does not feel like a werewolf is another man who claims to be my mate? So, I have three mates now? How could that happen? Why am I given such a huge problem as this one? I just really want to win this test so I could marry William. I don’t want to be in this kind of mess anymore!

Having Lucas by my side seemed too much, how much more having another one like this man right here?

“M-mate? No! I don’t have any other mate! William is my one and only mate!”

His expression suddenly changed from soft to dark hearing William’s name. “The alpha prince does not deserve to be your mate! No, Alana! Did you even know what he and his family did to us?! You must reject him! He does not deserve to be your mate! He is the most dangerous one to our family!”

His loud voice triggered something inside me, like how Alpha Killian’s triggered the immense fear inside me every time he mentioned about whipping me.

But with Zuleik, it feels different, like he is triggering something violent inside me that wants to come out. It is only with him that I felt the most urge to let my wolf out.

He came up to in a blink of the light and cupped my face. “You must not ever let yourself be deceived by their family, Alana. Do you even know who killed Princess Athena, your mother? It was the alpha king, the father of that fucking William!”

I felt my world slowly spin around me. What is he talking about? Is it another lie? Another way to manipulate me?

My insides revolted at the revelation. No! That is not possible! My mother died while giving birth to me. She was not killed! She was not killed by the alpha king!

Before I could say something, a sound of a bullet coming our way and piercing right into the flesh of Zuleik interrupted whatever I was going to say.

He grunted in pain before jumping out from me and running into the thickness of the woods.

Out from the trees came soldiers who helped me get up from being lodged on the ground.

“Ms. Alana? Are you okay?”

“Yes, yes I am,” I answered, still in a trance. I want to ask him so many questions about my mother. I want him to tell me everything and take back all the things he told me just now.

“We are sent by the alpha prince to help you. Come on, the moon goddess’ shrine is here.”

One of them took the deer and the other one assisted me to walk on a concealed path.

“Excuse me, can I ask what kind of thing is that? He looked like a werewolf but it felt like it’s not,” I asked when everything about him just baffled me.

He left curious and wondering why he feels so familiar to me.

“It’s a lycan, Ms. Alana. They were not usually found here but someone might have decided to be bold,” the soldier replied.

I bit my tongue when I learned that he is a lycan too. “That’s… that’s actually one of my kind,” I said in my head silently.
