Piercing howls filled the entire vast clearing under the moonlight as the ball was tossed in the air in the middle of the night. The two opposing teams quickly raced for who would be the first to successfully sustain the ball in their hands and reached the finish line.

Lucas is clearly dominating it all and no one can match him in the field. He’s running past the players in the field at a lightning speed.

“It seems like you are enjoying the game, alpha prince,” Peter said with a shaking voice.

He is an omega coming from the lowest ranks in the pack and is more than happy that I chose him over the others who are too willing to be by my side to earn the favor of the alpha king.

I don’t want that. I want their pure loyalty only for me.

“No, I am not really enjoying this as much as I will be if I am in the games.”

“I’m so sorry to hear that the alpha king asked you to sit out of the games, alpha prince. He must have meant nothing but good things for you.”

“Good things…” I looked at him from my high chair. “Can you also do good things for me, Peter?”

He blinked several times before nodding profusely. “Yes, of course, alpha prince! I am at your service and I will do everything for you.”

I told him about the things that I want him to do just before the winner of the games was announced. As I expected, Lucas won as the player of the game and will be granted a favor from the alpha king.

“Lucas, congratulations!” I greeted him with a big smile on my face as I slapped his back playfully. “What a good run from my one and only beta. This is your year. You won the games without me in it and now you will also have my divorced wife to be your wife. Isn’t that an exciting thing for you?”

Most of the werewolves laughed while Lucas forced a smile on his face. “Thank you, alpha prince.”

After handing him the trophy, I decided to leave and just as I expected him to do, he ran towards me.

“Alpha prince, can I ask why you have to go that far? Why does it have to be me that you want to play with when you have all the other servants and alphas at your own disposal?”

I stopped to seriously look at Lucas with a dismissing expression on my face. “Lucas, what are you talking about? Do you take my helping you to find a bride as an insult? Didn’t you know it was our most prized culture in the pack?”

He stayed silent while I put an arm around him.

“I have someone back in my room waiting for me to safely get home. I care for a woman and I know you want one too. Lucas, I just want you to feel the same fulfilled feeling that I am feeling right now. You don’t have the time in the world to find your mate because you spent all your life by my side as my beta. I kind of get guilty too, you know.”

I took a step back and put my hands in my pockets. “You can have Sophia as my gift for you. Please accept her because if you don’t, then I am going to think that you secretly hate me. I don’t want to think that in the back of your mind, you are secretly plotting to have the things that I possess now. I don’t want to think any of that, man. I don’t really want to think that the only person who have been with me since I was a child is now trying to take everything from me.”

I clenched my jaws when he stared right back into my eyes as if he was really thinking of any of that.

“Perhaps…” He swallowed the lump in his throat as his face turned pale. “Did you remember something, alpha prince?”

“Remember? What should I remember?” I acted like I knew nothing. “Lucas, what are you talking about? Did you know something that I should know about? Come on, tell me now.”

But he just remained mum to my disappointment.

“The wedding will be next week. And oh, I forgot to tell you that after Sophia attacked Francine, the alpha king ordered her to work at the mines. Since you are her fiancé, then it would not hurt if you show some help towards her.”

His mouth fell open.

“What do you mean, alpha king?”

“You know what I mean.” I gave him another tap on the head “You have to work with her there too. In sickness and in health, that would be your vows with her so might as well show how you will be a fantastic husband to her.”

“Did the alpha prince already remember everything?” I asked Sophia in gritted teeth while pounding a big boulder of rocks in the mountain.

The woman who should be toiling hard for the whole day is sitting on the chair under the shade of an umbrella sipping juice.

“No, of course not. The surgery made sure he will never ever remember Alana.”

I paused and thought about the telltale signs. I just knew something strange has been happening to the alpha prince ever since Aria was brought into the palace.

“But I think that he did,” I muttered under my breath. “He definitely remembered something.”

Sophia fell silent and then spoke afterwards. “What if Aria is Alana? What should we do, Lucas? What if she is really Alana?”

I have also thought about that before and the only thing that I can come up with is one thing. Although it’s impossible that Aria is Alana, we can never really tell.

I turned my back at her with a determined look on my face.

“We have to separate them again because I will never let them be together. They cannot just be happy together.”
