ALANA

“Alana? Alana?”

I straightened my back and turned around upon hearing Sophia’s voice. I am at the back of the mansion where there is creek water which greatly reminds me of the lake back at the capital. I never knew that there is something that exists here at the mansion.

Oh well, I will really not know about this because I am not allowed to go outside. I was literally imprisoned by my own father.

“Yes?” I replied to her with a confused look.

She’s smiling from ear to ear at me as if she did not curse me yesterday for burning her house down. What is up with her? Why does she look at me so kindly? She has never looked at me in such a way before.

“Do you have any free time now? I just want to show you something. Actually, mom and dad want me to come here to you personally to apologize,” she said and handed me a plate with a piece of a sliced cake. “Here, take this. I know you want to eat a cake so bad before. I am sorry that I could not give you one when you were here with us.”

I accepted the cake and stared at it with tears in my eyes. My heart wants to burst out of its cage while looking at the only food that I want to eat during my 18th birthday. Every day, I will always wonder what it tastes like and each time, I will erase it in my mind because I will never know about it because I know my father will never give me one.

But William did and I did not miss anyone more than I miss William now. I miss my mate. I miss the man who will always remember to put a slice of cake in my meal because he knows how happy I am the first time I tasted the cake he gave me for my birthday.

“Oh, you poor little thing!” Sophia exclaimed and hugged me. “Are you that happy to receive a cake? Don’t worry, I will give you a cake every day starting now.”

She held my hands and smiled at me widely. “I am so sorry Alana for being such a jerk sister to you. I failed as your big sister because I was not able to save you before. Please believe me when I tell you that I also have no choice either. You know dad and mom. They are so strict with me. They will not let me come to you when all I ever wanted is to play with you when we were kids.”

I just nodded at her. Is she telling the truth? Will I finally have a real big sister this time? Will I finally know what it feels like to have a family?

She pulled me into the forest. “Come on. I have prepared a picnic for the four of us. Mom and dad are waiting for us there.”

I let her hold hand as we walked hand in hand into the thick foliage.

“Ambassadress,” Lucas called. He has been watching us from afar and is alerted when he sees me with Sophia.

“It’s okay, Lucas. I am okay. She means no harm. You can always call for me,” I said pertaining to the gadget he gave me for communication.

He sighed and looked at Sophia. “Do not dare to hurt the ambassadress. I will call her after a minute and if she does not pick up, I will alert the whole security and detain the alpha myself.”

Sophia just smiled and put an arm around my shoulder. “Lucas, Alana is my sister. I will never hurt her.” She smiled at me. “Come on. The food will get cold.”

I nodded and looked at Lucas assuring him that I am fine.

WILLIAM

I opened my eyes, gasping for breath as the nightmare I had just dreamt hit me in a second. Alana is crying profusely and calling for my name.

“Alana! She’s in danger!”

I jumped up from lying on the grass beside the lake under the glare of the afternoon sky. My mate is in danger and I have to go to her.

She needs me now. I can take anything thrown towards me but not Alana crying. That’s the dealbreaker with me. I don’t care if it’s a mission or what the alpha king gave her. I have had enough waiting for days to let them give me the greenlight to go to Alana.

I am the alpha prince. I can make decisions on my own especially when it concerns my mate.

In a rush, I rode the horse and went back to the castle to use one of the choppers. I cannot take the road because it will take me half a day to arrive there.

“Inform the pilot that I need him. I will go to a very important place now!”

But the royal guard just looked down before me. “I am sorry alpha prince but the alpha king instructed us not to let you go anywhere. There is also no available pilot for you alpha prince because all are occupied in their respective missions.”

I gritted my teeth and took my phone to call Francine and Lucas but none of them are answering me.

“Damn it!”

I called them again but it keeps on telling me that they’re unreachable or there is no signal.

This can’t be it. Something is really wrong. I can feel that Alana is in grave danger now and I have to go to her now.

Running to the control room in our own private airport, I hitched the collar of the chief, slammed him to the wall, and growled at him

“Give me a jet now! To hell with the pilots! I can drive it by myself!”

All gasped in both surprise and terror.

“But alpha prince, did you forget about what happened to you back then? You were in a plane freak accident and you swore never to maneuver a plane again!”

I ignored what he said and just pushed him further onto the wall smashing the surrounding concrete around him.

“Are you going to give me one or I will bury you straight into this wall?”

He can only clear his throat and nod at the junior chief.

In a second, I was running to the runway to the jet that would take me to her.

Alana, wait for me there. I will be coming to save you.
