It’s been weeks since the alpha prince ordered me to be kept in the brothel but not even his shadow of him showed up.

Cleaning the place and cooking for the customers do not pay my bills anymore that are starting to pile up since I am still staying at the VIP room of the alpha prince. I asked Stella if I should move out but she did not agree saying that she will be punished by the alpha prince if she did that.

When another week passed without the alpha prince coming for me, that’s when the reality of what Selene weighed on me.

Maybe she’s right. I should not have believed the alpha prince after all. I am just a prostitute in his eyes while he’s got everything in this world. If I want to kill him, then I should not let myself be swooned by him.

“Aria, prepare yourself now and entertain the customer in room 303,” Stella ordered me the second she barged into the room.

I immediately stood up with a hopeful smile on my face. “Is it the alpha prince? Is he back to get me now?”

Stella just stared at me and slowly nodded. “Yes, my girl. He’s back for you. You don’t have to wait anymore for the alpha prince to return for the girl that he cannot forget.”

I clenched my hands out of happiness and clutched the small canister of poison in my pocket. Once the alpha prince is busy letting me hand him his drink, I would put it in his cup and he would be dead in a second.

I smiled inwardly at that. And that would be the sweetest revenge I could do against him.

I quickly readied myself, took a bath in a pool of flowers and scents making sure that he won’t be able to sniff the scent of the mark Zuleik made on my neck. I put on a pastel green dress with a more conservative cut than before and with some bottles of drinks in my hand, I knocked on room 303 and entered.

The alpha prince is squatting on the end of the room drinking a bottle of liquor in his hand while I can feel his eyes on me. The room is very dimly lit so I still cannot make out his face.

I knelt before him and offered him a drink. “Alpha prince, please let me pour you a drink.”

He did not respond so I lifted my head at him to only gasp when I saw him near me looking down on me with a different face on.

I instantly stood up and took a knife out from my pocket and aimed it at him. I am not going to hesitate to kill him in just one attack.

The elders who taught me in the village told me that I am the best warrior they have ever had the chance to teach to. They said I learned so easily that it baffled them in a good way.

I have not killed any person but this stranger in front of me could be my first kill.

I stepped back and pressed the lights on while my eyes were not leaving him. “Who are you?! Where is the alpha prince?!”

When the lights washed on the room, I came face to face with a familiar face that I am certain that I have never met in my entire life.

He was staring at me, no, he was gazing at me with the softest eyes that I have ever seen in my whole life with a glint of guilt in them.

Guilt? But why would he be guilty?

“I am asking who you are and why the hell are you here?! Where is the alpha prince?! Did Stella just trick me? Is she letting me entertain other customers?! Fucking answer me now?!”

His eyes widened at the language that I used. “You sound so like her. You look like her too but I know you are not her,” he muttered as if not talking with me. “The woman that I remembered cannot use that word. She doesn’t know the word.”

My forehead creased at what he’s saying. Who is he referring to and who the fuck is he?! Where is the alpha prince?

“Do not play with me! Answer me who are you because I am really going to kill you if you still stare at me like a fucking lovesick person!”

He blinked and took out something from his breast pocket of his top and showed it to me. It was the golden badge of the alpha prince bearing his seal.

“I am here under the order of the alpha prince. He cannot come to get you because of his prior commitments. Pack your bags. We will be leaving for the palace.”

But I did not move and just stared sharply at him, my knife still aimed towards him.

“You did not answer my question. Who are you and why would I go with you? Why do you have the badge of the alpha prince and how do you know who I am?”

He smiled and scratched his head. “You are feisty and know how to threaten someone. I cannot feel the connection with you at all so you cannot be her at all.”

He sighed and looked at me. “To answer your question, I am Lucas, the beta of the alpha prince. I am the most trusted ally of the alpha prince. He has been expecting you so you should come with me now.”

I lowered my weapon and stared back at him, hoping to rack my head on where I saw him because I swear, he feels so familiar just like the alpha prince.

“I got nothing with me to pack other than myself so let us go.”

I followed him to the field outside the brothel.

“Hop on my back.”

He did not let me reply and just transformed into his wolf and growled at me in a low tone. I climbed up his back and held onto his thick fur as he ran so fast into the woods.
