Sophia and I are facing each other in a private dinner I prepared in a restaurant a few miles from the village. The woman is blushing all over while trying to appear as dainty and elegant as possible in front of me.

But I was too shrewd to be tricked by this. I have met people like her and it always ends up in the worst way against the other.

She glanced at me and wiped her mouth in a very demure manner making sure that I see how her colored nails are flicked in a way.

“Alpha prince, thank you so much for inviting me to this dinner. It looks so inviting here.”

I just nodded at her while thinking about Alana earlier. I think I may have overdone it a bit. I was being too needy and hurting that I pushed her away twice this day. The first one can’t be helped but the second and third instances? There is no excuse for doing that to her. I was just being a jerk and mean to her at this point.

Sophia smiled at me in a rehearsed manner. Even the way she moved her neck is a product of a behavioral school. She’s definitely mimicking my mother. I scoffed. For what? So, I would like her because she reminds me of queen luna?

“So, what are we going to talk about, alpha prince?” Her eyes twinkled. “About our wedding? The preparations? Dad told me that the alpha king wanted me to be your bride if you still do not find your mate this year. It might be such a mean thing to say but I pray to the moon goddess that you will not meet her.”

I gritted my teeth as I washed the food I cannot swallow with wine. I am itching to leave her already but I have to fulfill the reason why I have come here.

“Why do you hate Alana so much? I am quite curious. Can you tell me yourself?”

Her face came to a full disgusted look upon hearing my mate’s name. “Alpha prince, are you also beginning to hate her? Are you regretting the fact that you took her with you to the castle? Did she do something against you? I will not be shocked if she did! Well, I will not be surprised to hear that since all of us in the family hated her from the very start.”

I let out a deep harsh sigh as I drank from my glass again. I need to control my anger or else I would be hitting a girl for the first time in my life.

“Why? Why do you hate her so much?” I still asked not to look at her directly because I might smash the table against her face.

No, William. You are better than this! Control your anger!

Sophia leaned back into her seat before shrugging. “It is obvious why we hate her. She’s not my father’s real daughter. She is the product of her mother cheating against the alpha. My mother should have been my father’s first wife but because of Alana’s parents, she was more considered. Do you know what I regretted the most in my life, alpha prince? To not be able to see Alana’s mother in the same cell as her. What we did to her is very justified. Very just according to the law.”

It took everything in me not to grab her neck and kill her in an instant. That will not be the justice for Alana that I am seeking. I picked up the knife and began cutting my meat.

This woman is a psychopath. Who knows what she is going to do with Alana? I do not care if my guards are telling me to go back home before my parents return from their trip. There are more reasons why I need to stay here and that is to make sure that everyone who maltreated Alana will get a hundred folds of what they did to her.

“And because of that, what are the things you did to her?” I asked after clearing my throat to prevent a curse from coming out.

Sophia grinned at me in pride as she began recounting the horrible things she did to my mate. “Many, many things, alpha prince. Dad forbids me to have any pet so I just made Alana one. I put a leash on her neck and I used her like a horse. One time I wanted to have a pig for a pet but I cannot have one so I made Alana act like one.”

She laughed and brushed her aside as she’s too engrossed with her own story.

“So, I made her lie on her back and let her roll around her cell like a cute little pig!”

The knife broke in my hand in suppressed fury hearing that.

“Continue,” I said and reached for the bottle again.

Sophia smiled widely. “And one time, I carved a deer on her own skin just because I like it. I am so good at drawing that my mother appreciated me so much when she saw Alana’s back with my masterpiece!”

That explains the scars on her back and in many areas of her body. That is the reason why she is so insecure. That is the reason why she still screams in pain every time she’s asleep beside me. It’s all because of this woman and her family.

“And one time…”

“Enough! I have heard enough.” I stood up and looked at her eyes coldly.

I felt like my stomach was going to overturn. I am feeling so fucking sick hearing about the tortures Alana went through in her hands.

I will fucking make sure that their punishment will be more rabid, more painful, and more disgusting than what they did to Alana that they will all ask for death to stop their sufferings but they won’t receive it.

They will pay for the rest of their lives.

“Escort this woman out! Now!”

The royal guards came in and yanked Sophia out of the room.

“What are you doing?! I am still talking with the alpha prince! Alpha prince! Please, I still want to finish my food with you!” she screamed while being dragged away from my sight.

Punching the tables until my hands bleed, I cursed myself over and over again for being such a jerk. What kind of a mate am I to let justice escape my mate? I should have begged the alpha king to torture them! I should have not let my jealousy get into my head because now, I am one of the people who hurt Alana in a way.

“I’m sorry, Alana. I am really sorry, my love.”
