ALANA

My eyes connected with William and I smiled at him to assure him that I am fine. I got the attention of both the lycans and the werewolves which I really want to have to pass on a message.

They may think that I am just pranking them but I trust that they know their history. Once I show them how I really look, they will listen to what I have to say.

I gulped when I looked at William again. I trust that he will be there to calm me when I could not control myself anymore.

Growling, I scratched the ground ready to get lost in the chaos. I just really hope that I could still recognize people although I know my wolf will always know it’s William.

“Alana! No!” William shouted in worry as he jumped unto me and clasped my face gasping for air. “Do not transform! Not yet!”

The second his hand landed on my skin, I instantly felt the trembling of his flesh.

“Why? What’s wrong, William?”

I was too confused because it’s the first time that I saw him react like this.

He pointed at the horizons that’s beginning to turn into a darker version of the night.

“The hordes of lycans are coming to get us all. If we both transform into our wolves now, we will be defeated easily.”

A shiver ran down my spine when I stared at the decreasing distance between us and the coming danger.

William looked around at the small number of warriors left. “Half of the population in the palace is still being evacuated. I must protect them, Alana. I will hold the line for them until help arrives.”

The urgency and sincerity in his voice made me fall in love with him again. He really cares for his people. Right here in front of me is the worthy next alpha king.

I put a hand on his arm and smiled at him. Despite what we are facing, I almost feel no fear because we have each other. That is just how confident I am that we can beat them all as long as we are together. “Let me help you. I want to help you, William. I can help you.”

It took him a few seconds for him to decide and when he nodded, I felt my heart swelled in pride that I could help him with it. “Alright but let’s take turns shifting. I’m sure the news has already reached the alpha king and queen luna by now. I’m sure they’re heading for the palace now.”

I nodded and let him shift into his wolf while I grabbed the gun on the ground and rode on his back. As the mad-ridden lycans roared into the walls of the palace killing almost everyone in sight and overwhelming the warriors, I kissed William’s head as we headed on to the horde.

William easily cleared the one line clean as I shot the hundreds of incoming ones dead but no matter how many we got killed, there are just too many of them that it seemed like they are an unlimited supply of killing machines in wolf forms.

One of the lycans managed to block William and leaped to try to claw my face out of the alpha prince’s back but William snagged the attack and growled so loud at the lycan making it run away with its tail behind its legs.

“I’m fine, so fine,” I told him when it kept on checking up on me on its back. “Do what you have to do.”

William continued killing the lycans while I shot at the never-ending pouring of enemies. They just came out of nowhere snarling and growling at everyone.

I even saw one killing another lycan as if it doesn’t know that it’s not the target. They’re just braindead killers manipulated probably from an enhanced spell used by Zuleik that he stole from Lola. Speaking of that woman, I wondered where she was now.

Did they let her out? I could only hope so because these lycans will surely kill her.

A bullet surged through past William to my utter shock. I looked up and saw Zuleik on top of a lycan holding a gun at us.

“Not my mate, Zuleik,” I murmured as I aimed the gun at him and fired but he just blocked it by pulling a random lycan and letting it catch the bullet.

Gritting my teeth, I shot him back again until I hit his shoulder and fell down into the incoming lycans.

William howled as if telling me that I did a good job.

“Baby, I think it’s my turn,” I said in William’s furry ear.

He slowed down after biting off the neck of an enemy and let me shift into my wolf.

For the whole night, that has been our routine until we decided we needed to shift together to fight better.

There are times when we needed to get separated while fighting alongside each other but William always made sure to scan the whole place to look for me and shout my name.

“Alana! Where are you?! Are you alright?! Tell me you are okay!”

“Yes, I am fine!” I replied back shouting while finishing off the lycans in front of me. “How about you? are you alright?”

“Yes! Yes, I am good!”

I can only smile as I continue slashing and biting through the lycans. I am already wounded on my arms and legs but this is just nothing compared to how seriously William is gravely hurt because he still has time to save me from lycans even when he has his own enemies in front and behind him.

Hours after with only the two of us remaining alive on the side of the palace, we found each other on top of piles of lycans catching air. Our breaths are ragged and we are beyond exhausted as we look at the incoming lycans on the horizon.

They are not just stopping. 

“If I die now, it will be the happiest death because I have you here by my side,” I said as I reached for his hand.

William just grinned and wiped off the flesh and blood off his face. “I won’t let you die. I am here for you. I will kill all of them for you, Alana.”
