WILLIAM

“William… oh my poor boy William…”

I froze in my spot when I came face to face with my mother while going back to my room to see Alana. The party Cain organized has dispersed back into their cars leaving the palace as quickly as possible when I didn't even want them to.

I guess they don’t want to eat their tomato soup for lunch when I saw how I turned Cain into a literal soup. I am not even stopping at that. I still have so many things I want to do to him.

“Mom…” I muttered and hugged her so tight.

She did not even mind that her white satin dress was drenched with the blood from my wound and from Cain.

“Are you okay? How are you feeling?” She caressed my wounds helplessly. “My son, why does it have to come to this? Why do you have to do this to us, my son? Why do you have to disobey your father when all he wants for you is your good welfare?”

I did not say anything but just wiped the tears off her eyes. I love my mother so much. I cherish her so much and would hate to see her like this.

 “This would not have happened if you only listened to us. William, you are our only son, the only heir of the alpha king. The whole pack expects you to act like the next alpha king, William.”

I nodded and cupped her face. She is a very doting mother to me and would give me everything that would sometimes be a reason for her misunderstanding with the alpha king since he does not want me to grow up spoiled.

“I know, mom. I know that but I cannot let Alana suffer for the things that she did not do to me. I am the only one who understands her situation and I would willingly help her in every way that I can.”

She gasped in disbelief. “You will do everything that you can for her even though she is not your mate? William, what is happening to you?”

She caught my eyes and shook her head in disappointment when she read the determination in it.

“My goodness, William! How can you sacrifice everything for a woman that isn’t your mate? The things that you have done for her are beyond what a friend should do for someone like her.”

I wanted to tell her at that instant that Alana is not just my friend, that she is really my mate but I reckoned myself to keep it.

“William, I know you have a special connection with Alana. You see her as your little sister. You saw in her the sibling that we can never give you but my son, this is not the right way. You should stop it now because you will soon have a wife. It’s not right to continue showering her with your time. What do you think she will feel when she finds out that you are giving more attention to your friend more than your wife?”

Hearing that from my mother made my heart shout for rebellion. I would never call someone my wife other than my Alana.

I took my mother’s hands into mine and smiled at her. “Don’t worry about me, mom. I will be fine, okay? I will figure it all out.”

I kissed her head and left her with her maids as I walked towards the direction of my room in the palace silently squirming from pain.

I looked down to see the big wound in my chest opening up because I forced myself to shapeshift even after coming from a two-day coma.

I gasped for air and coerced myself to look fine.

I wiped the sweat off my brows and bit my mouth to put some color on my lips. I don’t want Alana to worry for my state.

I raised my hand to open the door but before I could do that, Francine emerged out of the door and saw me first.

Just by the single glance that she threw at me, I know that she really meant business with me. She closed the door behind her back and looked at me intently.

“William, please tell me the truth. Are you allergic to Alana?” she asked in a low tone that only me and her could hear.

It’s like I swallowed my own tongue because I was literally caught off guard when she asked me that.

“William, come on. Tell me,” she insisted and moved to catch my eyes.

I laughed trying to shrug it. “Francine, where did you get that absurd information? Of course, it’s not true. How can you say that I am allergic to him when I am her mate? No, I am not allergic to her.”

She clutched my shoulders and listened to my heartbeat. “You are definitely lying. I saw your medical records after the surgery and I was appalled to know that you lost so much blood. The wound from the shot is not that deep but you still lost so much so I dug deeper. Your previous tests before you came into the village proves you are healthy so the only plausible reasons are our body is rejecting Alana.”

She stopped and swallowed the lump in her throat. “I know you asked the doctor if something is wrong with Alana. I am confused why but then I am starting to know why. She also told me that the first time she was with you was so painful which should not be the case. William, you and her are not just compatible. You both are allergic to each other so you should not be together!”

I looked around and put a finger on my mouth. “Please Francine, don’t tell anyone about it.”

She gasped in disbelief. “You are in danger. Who knows what would happen? Both of your lives are in danger! The alpha king and the queen luna would never approve of it!”

“This is one of the reasons why I am keeping that information to myself. They will be hostile to Alana and that is the last thing I want to happen to her. I love her! I love her so much that is why I am delaying telling everyone that she is my mate.”

Francine’s eyes softened hearing that. “But what about you, alpha prince? How about this nation that awaits you as their next alpha king?”

I opened my mouth to answer but then I closed it back knowing that I don’t have anything good to say.

“Alpha prince, you are being called by the alpha king before the council,” said a royal guard interrupting our conversation.

I nodded while still staring at Francine asking her silently to keep my secret too. “Yes, I am coming.”
