The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 68

ALANA

I woke up feeling groggy all over. On top of that, I am hungry, thirsty, and totally blank. The last memory I have is me talking with Alpha Killian that I think ended up so bad I do not know what happened after that heated argument.

“Thank goodness you are finally awake. I thought you were going to sleep for the rest of the day and keep me here in your room just staring up at your beauty.”

A smile automatically formed in my mouth when I saw William coming up from the small pantry in the room with two cups of coffee for the both of us.

It has been his routine to come here to my room to bring me coffee or just food that we will eat together. Coming back feels bearable when William shows up. I do not care anymore if he can’t tell other people about me being his mate because his presence here is more than enough for me.

I kissed his cheeks as he wrapped his arms around me and carried me onto the couch. “You must be kidding. I don’t even sleep for more than eight hours. How could you say it would take me a day to sleep?”

I felt his body froze for a second before he shrugged and put me down.

“You just looked so exhausted yesterday.”

He caressed my cheeks while gazing down at me. “Do you think it’s time to pack and go home, Alana? I don’t want to cause you so much stress given the…”

His voice trailed and did not finish off his sentence.

“I am okay, William. I really am.” I dangled my arms around his neck and kissed his lips briefly. “Don’t worry, I do not intend to stay here for longer. Just a few more days and we will leave back to the palace. I promise you that.”

His eyes twinkle in relief. “Really? Can you swear by that?” he asked, putting up his little finger on me.

Chuckling, I intertwined my little finger on his as we laughed altogether. It feels nice to have this moment again with him after all that’s been through because ever since we came here, I am always at the edge.

William is the only person that could calm me this way.

While enjoying the coffee and our little conversation aside, I remembered something that I should have asked him first thing in the morning.

“William, can I ask what happened after I talked with dad? I don’t really quite remember everything except when he came up to me in anger after I refused to give Sophia some food.” I smiled sheepishly at him as I tried my very best to rack up the memories in my head but arrive at nothing.

“Can you tell me where you find me after me and the alpha talked and what happened after that? How did I get here to sleep? Am I that angry or scared with him that I thoroughly forgot everything?”

The light on his face completely faded. “Y-You forgot what happened last night?”

I let out a sigh before nodding. “Kind of that is why I want to ask you what happened after that. The scenes are kinda blurred in my head and I can’t fully remember them now. Maybe later, I will remember them.”

William swallowed a bit hard as he took my hands into his and stared at me long and deep. “After that, you don’t remember anything? What did you last remember? The blurred memories, what do you think are them?”

I concentrated on giving him answers but aside from the alpha’s angry voice, nothing retained in my head about last night.

“I’m sorry, William, but I cannot really remember everything.”

I bit my lip in nervousness when I realized that something bad must have happened given his reaction. “Why? Is it something serious? Did I do something, William? What did I do?”

I started to panic so he has to cup my face and catch my eyes. “No, no. It’s nothing. Nothing really happened. You were just really angry that day. I just asked you because I was concerned. That is all.”

I let out a sigh of relief and let my body fit into his as he embraced me. “I thought I did something bad already. William, I am sorry if I did anything bad to you.”

“No, Alana. You did not do anything bad to me. Nothing happened, okay?” He stroked my head gently and kissed it. “Nothing you do will harm me, Alana.”

I felt like there is more to that statement than what he is trying to sound like but I did not expound on it anymore because I saw something more shocking.

“Hey, your arm.” I took a closer look at it and even leaned in just to make sure that I am seeing what it really is. “Are you okay, William? What’s with the bruises?”

William immediately pulled down the sleeve of his shirt to hide it from me. “It’s nothing. I was just in a rough game with Lucas yesterday and did some training with the guards. That is all.”

But I just cannot keep myself from thinking that something is wrong. My gut feel is telling me that.

I opened my mouth to ask him again but a knock on the door stopped that.

“Come in,” William said and Lucas came in, his eyes darting towards me immediately.

Instinctively, I pulled my robe tightly around my body.

“Lucas, what is it?”

The beta looked at the alpha prince and bowed his head. “Alpha prince, forgive my intrusion but there is someone you should see outside.”

The two men exchanged glances that I never understood what it meant.

“Stay here. I will only be outside for a while.”

William stood up and kissed my head to which Lucas only looked away.

They left the room and I waited with bated breath inside. Finally, when I couldn't hold it in, I slowly opened the door to see three men outside my room in a seeming dark aura.

The three of them, especially William, looked so dangerous while staring at the stranger in front of him.

“Alpha prince, I told you already that I am at your service.” The man bowed his head before him. “What do you want me to do to make you believe you?”

“Who are you? You haven't answered my question. Tell me who you are!”

“I am Cain, alpha prince, your cousin. Did you forget that we went to the same academy?”

My brows moved in confusion. If he is William’s cousin, then why does he sound so hostile towards him? And why does he know him?

“Why are you here?” William asked again in a dark tone. “Tell me the truth or else you will leave back to the palace without a hand.”

But the man just took the threats lightly, making me feel uneasy for a second. “The alpha king sent me here to help your friend Alana.”

Me? I gasped quietly. Why would the alpha king send the alpha prince’s cousin to help me? For what reason exactly?

The man moved his head and waved at me. He somewhat resembled William in a way so there is no doubt that he is the alpha prince’s relative. “Hi, Ambassadress Alana. I am Cain, the alpha prince’s cousin. The alpha king sent me here.”

William and Lucas looked at me in chorus, the former stepping quickly back towards me as if wanting to hide me from Cain.

“Yes, I heard you. Nice meeting you, Cain,” I said in a small voice while my hand found William’s hand.

I touched it tenderly to try to calm him down.

Cain saw that and a grin formed in his eyes. “The pleasure is mine, ambassadress.”
