Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 106
The crowd was still buzzing with excitement from the archery competition when Irene’s voice cut through the air, sharp and venomous.
“There’s no way an ordinary omega beat me,” she snapped, stepping forward with fury etched across her face. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her eyes darting to the murmuring crowd. “That result must be a joke. I demand another chance!”
Lisa, still clutching the bow in her hand, lowered it slowly. She was breathing harder than she wanted anyone to notice, but she stood tall, refusing to cower. Her fingers trembled faintly before she clenched them tight to hide it.
“Irene, the scores were announced,” Ash said, his tone cutting, almost mocking. “Lisa didn’t just beat you. She destroyed you.”
A wave of laughter rippled through the spectators. Some clapped, others jeered, but it only made Irene’s face twist even more. Her pride was pierced, and her lips curled in rage.
“You think this is funny?” Irene’s voice rose, her words biting like daggers. She turned to Enzo, fury blazing in her eyes. “Alpha Enzo, are you really going to allow this mockery to stand? A Luna beaten by an omega?”
Enzo’s golden eyes narrowed, his expression unreadable. “Irene, the competition was fair,” he said calmly, his voice carrying the weight of finality. “Every participant had the same chance. Lisa earned her victory.”
The words seemed to drive Irene into a frenzy. She stepped forward, pointing a trembling finger at Lisa. “No omega can ever surpass me. Not in skill, not in blood, not in anything! I refuse to accept it.”
Lisa tilted her chin upward, her dark eyes steady. She could feel the burn of a hundred gazes, whispers threading through the crowd. Every fiber of her wanted to retreat, but something deeper—something stubborn and raw—made her hold her ground.
“What do you want then?” she asked quietly, but her voice carried in the hush that had fallen over the arena.
Irene smirked, a cruel curve of her lips. “A spar,” she declared. “A real fight. No arrows. No games. Just strength and skill. You and me.” She stalked closer, her aura flaring, making the air thick with dominance. “If I win, you will grovel at my feet before the entire pack. You’ll admit you are nothing but a lowly omega who dared to overstep.”
Gasps echoed through the spectators. Heads turned toward Lisa, eyes wide, waiting for her reaction.
“And if I win?” Lisa asked, her tone steady, though her pulse pounded so loud she could hear it in her ears.
Irene’s smirk faltered, but she scoffed. “You won’t win.”
“Answer her,” Kael shouted from the crowd, his fists clenched at his sides. His voice carried a surprising edge of protectiveness.
Irene turned, glaring at him, before swinging her attention back to Lisa. Her smile returned, slow and wicked. “Fine. If by some miracle you win, I’ll grovel at your feet. But we all know that will never happen.”
The crowd erupted into a mix of cheers, gasps, and murmurs. The tension was palpable, like a storm gathering overhead.
Enzo stepped forward, his brows knitted. His voice came out like a growl. “This is unnecessary. The competition is over. I will not allow unnecessary bloodshed.”
Irene’s laugh rang out, high-pitched and grating. “Unnecessary? Are you blind? She humiliated me in front of everyone! If you deny me this, it will prove favoritism toward your precious omega.”
Lisa flinched at the emphasis on “precious,” feeling the scalding weight of the word.
“Enough,” Enzo barked, his tone commanding silence. But even then, whispers rolled through the spectators, thick with tension and curiosity.
Lisa surprised even herself when she stepped forward, her shoulders squared. Her voice was soft but steady as she spoke. “I’ll do it.”
The crowd roared with excitement, voices overlapping. Some cheered her courage, others mocked her, already anticipating her defeat.
“Lisa—” Enzo began, but before he could finish, Ash stormed forward and grabbed her arm, pulling her back. His eyes were wide, burning with something between anger and fear.
“Are you out of your mind?” he hissed. His grip was tight, his tone harsh enough to sting. “She’s royal blood. She’s trained for this her whole damn life. You’re just an omega—”
“I know,” Lisa cut him off, her voice sharper than usual. She pulled her arm free, looking Ash in the eyes. “But I’m not afraid.”
Ash’s jaw clenched. He leaned closer, his voice low, almost desperate. “You’re not thinking straight. If you lose, she’ll break you. And she will break you, Lisa.”
Lisa’s lips trembled for the briefest second, but she straightened. “Then let her try. I won’t back down.”
Ash stared at her for a long moment, searching her eyes for hesitation, for any crack in her resolve. But all he found was quiet determination. He exhaled sharply and muttered, “Damn stubborn omega,” before releasing her.
Enzo’s gaze burned on Lisa. His lips parted as though he wanted to stop her, but he saw the fire in her stance, the unshakable decision. His chest tightened with something he didn’t want to name.
Irene laughed triumphantly, tossing her hair back. “Fine. Let’s not waste more time. A sparring match. Here and now.”
The crowd erupted, stamping feet, clapping, shouting. The energy was electric, spilling over like a wave.
Kael shoved through the crowd, coming to Lisa’s side. His face was twisted with worry, his voice low and urgent. “You don’t have to prove anything to her. She’s baiting you. Don’t fall for it.”
Lisa gave him a faint smile, one that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Maybe I do. Not for her. For me.”
Kael’s throat worked, but words failed him. He looked at her as if seeing her in a new light—fragile but unyielding.
“Clear the arena!” Enzo’s voice boomed, silencing the chaos. His tone left no room for argument, though his expression betrayed the storm raging within him.
Guards moved swiftly, forming a perimeter, forcing the spectators back. The sparring ring was cleared, the ground marked.
Lisa stepped into the circle, her heart thundering, but her steps steady. The weight of a thousand eyes pressed down on her, but she lifted her chin, refusing to bend.
Irene followed, her presence like fire, confidence dripping from her every movement. She turned once, letting the crowd drink in her poise before focusing on Lisa. “This will be over quickly,” she sneered.
Lisa inhaled deeply, whispering to herself, “We’ll see.”
Ash stood just beyond the line, fists clenched, muttering curses under his breath. Kael hovered nearby, wringing his hands, while Enzo’s piercing gaze never left Lisa, his body tense as though ready to step in at the first sign of danger.
The air was thick with anticipation. Every whisper died down, every laugh silenced, until the only sound was the collective pounding of expectant hearts.
Two women stood facing each other, unequal in rank, status, and training—but bound by pride, defiance, and the eyes of an entire pack.
The signal to begin had not yet been given, but already the clash had started in the silence between them.
