Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 287
The ambulance doors burst open as paramedics rushed Serena inside the hospital, pushing her gurney toward the emergency room.
Bianca trailed behind, her face the perfect mask of worry, though deep inside, she was still relishing how smoothly everything had gone.
She stood outside the emergency room, pacing back and forth, making sure to look as anxious as possible in case anyone was watching.
The nurses had assured her that the doctors were doing everything they could, but she needed to make sure someone else knew about this.
Pulling out her phone, she dialed Serena’s office.
After a few rings, Emma’s voice came through.
“Hello, Rocky’s Design. Emma speaking.”
“Emma!” Bianca exhaled shakily, making sure her voice trembled just enough. “It’s Bianca Tayler… I— I don’t know how to say this, but something happened to Serena.”
There was a sharp pause on the other end. “What? What do you mean? What happened?”
Bianca forced out a shaky breath, letting her voice waver.
“She… she had an accident while we were swimming. She almost drowned, Emma. We’re at St. Peter’s private Hospital right now. She’s in the emergency room.”
Emma gasped audibly. “Oh my God! Is she— is she okay?”
“The doctors are with her now, but they said she swallowed a lot of water. I don’t know when she’ll wake up.” Bianca pressed a hand to her forehead, playing the part perfectly.
“I just thought you should know.”
Emma swallowed hard. “Yes, of course. Thank you for telling me.”
Bianca nodded, even though Emma couldn’t see her. “I’ll keep you updated.”
After the call ended, Emma remained frozen at her desk, processing the news.
Ma’am Serena was in the hospital. She had nearly drowned. But how?
Emma knew something wasn’t right.
Serena had always been afraid of deep water. She wasn’t the type to just go swimming.
She would never take such a risk. So what has changed?
Emma bit her lip, debating what to do next. Should she inform ma’am Serena’s parents?
They were far away, and she didn’t want to panic them unnecessarily.
But this was serious.
After a moment of hesitation, she made her decision and dialed Mrs. Winthrop’s number.
It rang twice before a familiar, warm voice answered.
“Emma, dear! How are you?”
Emma took a deep breath. “Mrs. Winthrop, I— I have some bad news.”
Mrs. Winthrop’s cheerful tone immediately faded. “What is it?”
“It’s Ma'am Serena,” Emma said carefully. “She… she’s in the hospital.”
There was a beat of silence.
Then, Mrs. Winthrop’s voice came out sharper. “What? The hospital? Why?”
Emma swallowed. “She—she nearly drowned.”
Another silence. And then, Mrs. Winthrop said slowly, “That’s impossible.”
Emma frowned. “Ma’am?”
“My daughter does not swim,” Mrs. Winthrop said firmly.
“She has always been afraid of the water. She would never willingly step into a pool, let alone almost drown. What exactly happened, Emma?”
Emma shifted uncomfortably.
“I… I don’t know the full details. Ma’am Bianca, a client, a friend of ma'am Serena said they went swimming, and then Ma’am Serena had an accident. That’s all I was told.”
Mrs. Winthrop’s breath came out shaky.
“I need to get to her. I’m booking the next flight to Arizona.”
Emma nodded, even though Mrs. Winthrop couldn’t see her.
“Okay, ma’am. I’ll pick you up at the airport.”
“Thank you, Emma,” Mrs. Winthrop murmured. “And please… keep an eye on my daughter.”
“I will.”
Hours later, at the airport…
Emma stood near the arrival gate, scanning the crowd.
Beside her, Amy fidgeted excitedly, looking around for her grandmother.
Emma had picked Amy up from school before coming here, but she hadn’t told the little girl the real reason why her grandmother was visiting.
“There she is!” Amy suddenly squealed, pointing excitedly.
Mrs. Winthrop stepped through the gate, her eyes searching—until they landed on Amy.
The moment Amy saw her grandmother, she broke into a run.
“Grandma!” she shouted.
Mrs. Winthrop’s face softened, and she bent down, engulfing Amy in a tight hug.
“Oh, my sweet girl!” she whispered, pressing a kiss to Amy’s forehead. “I’ve missed you so much.”
Amy giggled. “Me too! We always talk on the phone, but this is so much better!”
Mrs. Winthrop chuckled softly, holding her granddaughter tightly.
But beneath her warmth, there was an undercurrent of worry. She was happy to finally see Amy in person, but the reason for her visit was far from happy.
Emma gave a small smile. “It’s good to see you again, Mrs. Winthrop.”
Mrs. Winthrop straightened up. “Thank you for picking me up, dear.” She exhaled. “Now… let’s go see my daughter.”
Back at the hospital…
Bianca was still there, refusing to leave.
She knew that disappearing too soon might raise suspicions, so she made sure to look the part—pacing anxiously, checking her phone, sighing in worry.
When Mrs. Winthrop, Emma, and Amy walked in, Bianca immediately put on a sweet, innocent expression.
“Hello ma’am!” she greeted, stepping forward.
The resemblance of Mrs Winthrop and Serena made her realize that must be her mother. “Oh, I’m so glad you’re here.”
Mrs. Winthrop gave her a polite but cool nod. “You must be Bianca, right?”
Bianca clasped her hands together and nodded.
“I’ve been here ever since it happened. Serena is in a private ward now. The doctors say she’s stable, but she’s still unconscious.”
Mrs. Winthrop’s lips pressed together. “Take me to her.”
Bianca gestured toward the hallway, leading them to the room.
When they arrived, a doctor stepped out.
He was flipping through a chart, but when he saw them, he offered a professional nod.
“You must be the patient’s family,” he said.
Mrs. Winthrop stepped forward. “I’m her mother.”
The doctor nodded.
“We managed to remove the excess water from her system, and her vitals are stable. She’s still unconscious, but she should wake up soon.”
A sigh of relief swept through the group.
“That’s good news,” Emma murmured.
“Yes,” the doctor agreed.
“However, there are some important forms that need to be signed by a family member.” He looked at Mrs. Winthrop. “Could you come with me?”
Mrs. Winthrop nodded immediately. “Of course.” She turned to Emma.
“Stay with Serena. Let me know if anything changes.”
Emma nodded. “I will.”
As Mrs. Winthrop followed the doctor, Emma, Bianca, and Amy stepped into the private ward.
Serena lay on the hospital bed, her face pale, her breathing slow but steady.
She looked so fragile, so unlike the strong woman they knew.
Amy’s little face scrunched up in confusion. “Why is Mommy sleeping so long?”
Emma knelt beside her, rubbing her back.
“She’s just resting, sweetie. The doctors said she’ll wake up soon.”
Amy nodded, still staring at her mother.
Bianca, standing by the bedside, reached out and gently squeezed Serena’s hand.
She looked like a worried friend.
But deep inside, she was seething.
Serena had survived.
And she wasn’t happy about it.
