Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 326
Emma rushed toward Serena, concern etched all over her face.
“Ma’am Serena, breathe! Just take deep breaths,” she urged, carefully helping her up and leading her toward the chair behind her desk.
Serena let herself be guided, but her hands trembled as she sank into the chair.
Her mind was spinning—how had things escalated so fast? How had everything she worked so hard to build been reduced to rubble in a matter of minutes?
Emma quickly turned and grabbed a glass from the small water dispenser in the office. She filled it up and handed it to Serena.
“Here, drink this. You need to calm down.”
Serena took the glass with shaky fingers and sipped the water. The cool liquid slid down her throat, grounding her a little, but her chest still felt tight.
She placed the glass on the desk and covered her face with her hands. “Emma… this is bad. This is really bad,” she whispered.
Emma exhaled sharply and crouched beside her.
“I know it’s bad, Ma’am Serena. But you can’t let this destroy you. The press conference is in a few minutes. You need to pull yourself together.”
Serena lifted her head slightly, her weary eyes locking with Emma’s.
“How am I supposed to do that? Look at what’s happening! This scandal keeps growing like wildfire. First, the DNA test… My affair with Ryan and now… this? If people already believed I was a liar before, what do you think they’ll say now?”
Emma reached for her hand and squeezed it.
“Listen to me. I know this is overwhelming, but you have to focus on what you can control right now. The voice recording? We don’t have a way to prove it’s fake yet. But the DNA test? The pictures of you and Mr. Ryan? Those are things we can address.”
Serena blinked at her, trying to absorb her words.
Emma nodded firmly. “You go out there, face those reporters, and focus on clearing up what you can. Don’t let this throw you off. If not for anything, think about Amy. Do you want her growing up hearing all these lies about you?”
Serena’s entire body tensed at the mention of her daughter. Amy.
Sweet, innocent Amy, who had no idea the storm that's raging outside these walls.
Serena closed her eyes for a moment, breathing in deeply, then exhaled.
“You’re right,” she murmured, determination creeping into her voice.
Emma gave her a small smile. “Of course I am. Now, let’s get you ready.”
At that moment, Serena’s phone buzzed on the desk. She ignored it at first, but when it rang again, Emma glanced at the screen.
“It’s Steve Jacob.”
Serena stiffened.
Emma picked up the phone and held it out to her. “You should Answer it. Find out what he has to say.”
Serena hesitated, anger bubbling beneath her skin. She felt betrayed.
But Emma had a point—she needed to hear him out. With a deep breath, she grabbed the phone and pressed it to her ear.
“Serena, please, listen to me,” Steve’s panicked voice rushed through the line.
“You have to believe me—I had nothing to do with that recording!”
Serena scoffed, tightening her grip on the phone. “Nothing to do with it? Steve, it’s your voice! You expect me to believe someone just magically created a fake recording that sounds exactly like you?”
“I swear to you, I don’t remember ever saying those words!” Steve insisted.
“I mean, yes, that’s my voice, but I would never say something like that. I don’t even talk like that!”
Serena gritted her teeth. “So what are you saying? That someone edited the recording? Manipulateyour words?”
“Yes! That’s exactly what I’m saying,” Steve exclaimed.
“I don’t know who did this or why, but it’s not real. You have to believe me, Serena. I would never put you in this position on purpose!”
Serena exhaled sharply, leaning back in her chair. “Even if that’s true, it doesn’t change the fact that this is your voice, and now my name is being dragged even deeper into the mud because of it.”
Steve’s voice softened. “I know. And I’m going to fix it, I promise. I’ll do whatever it takes to prove that the recording was tampered with. Please, just hold on a little longer. Don’t let this break you.”
Serena closed her eyes briefly, her jaw clenching. She wanted to believe him, but right now, she didn’t have time to dwell on it.
“Fine,” she finally said. “Fix it, Steve. Because if you don’t, I swear, I won’t forgive you for this.”
With that, she ended the call and exhaled deeply.
Emma studied her carefully. “Well? What did he say?”
“He swears the recording was edited and that he never said those things,” Serena muttered, rubbing her temple.
Emma pursed her lips. “That’s possible. Voice manipulation technology is getting more advanced.”
Serena sighed. “I don’t have time to think about that now. How much time before the press conference?”
Emma checked her watch. “Ten minutes.”
Serena stood up, rolling her shoulders back. “Then let’s get this over with.”
She reached into her bag and pulled out a compact mirror, quickly touching up her face.
She dusted a little powder over her nose, adjusted her lipstick, and smoothed down her hair before glancing at Emma.
“How do I look?”
Emma gave her a reassuring nod. “Like a woman who’s about to shut those reporters up.”
Serena let out a small, humorless chuckle.
She turned and walked over to Amy, who was still sleeping soundly on the couch.
She leaned down, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Mommy’s going to fix this,” she whispered. “I promise.”
Then, straightening her shoulders, she strode toward the door with Emma following close behind.
The moment she stepped into the conference room, a wave of noise hit her—reporters shouting questions, cameras flashing from every direction.
But Serena didn’t falter.
She walked straight to the podium, her heart pounding, her hands gripping the edges of the stand.
She took one last deep breath, looked out at the sea of expectant faces, and prepared to clear her name.
