Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 113
Bryan's POV
The corridors of Alpha Rowland’s mansion were suffocating tonight. Every sound echoed like an accusation, every shadow dragged my thoughts back to the chaos that had unfolded in the arena. I hadn’t been able to get Irene’s face out of my head since then—the sheer rage, the humiliation, the fiery promise in her eyes when she spat that she would make Lisa pay. I had pushed her too far, too fast. I knew it now. And as much as her tantrums could send the entire household into disorder, I had been the one who set her on this disastrous path.
I took a deep breath as I approached her chambers. The guards at her door lowered their heads respectfully, but even they looked uneasy. No one liked being near Irene when she was in this state. “You can wait outside,” I said quietly. They didn’t hesitate to step aside.
I pushed open the door and found her sitting upright on the bed, her golden hair disheveled, her eyes swollen from crying and furious outbursts. She clutched a pillow like it was a weapon, her nails digging so deep into the fabric that it looked as though it might rip apart at any moment.
The moment her gaze landed on me, she hissed. “What are you doing here? Come to mock me too?”
I closed the door gently, swallowing the lump in my throat. “No, Irene. I came to apologize.”
Her brows shot up, her lips twisting into something between disbelief and bitter laughter. “Apologize? For what, Bryan? For pushing me into that fight? For making me look like a fool before the entire gathering? For letting that pathetic omega crawl her way into my place?”
I lowered my head for a moment before meeting her blazing eyes again. “For all of it. I pushed you harder than I should have. I thought… I thought toughening you up would make you shine brighter. That you could silence anyone who doubted your strength. But instead, I only fed your anger and left you vulnerable.”
Her jaw trembled, and for a split second, I thought I saw something softer beneath her fury. But then it hardened again. “You don’t understand, Bryan. She humiliated me. That omega—Lisa—she stood there as if she was worth anything. And the way Father looked at me after? Like I’d brought shame to his name. I’ll never forgive her for it. Never.”
I walked closer, keeping my tone steady. “I understand your rage. I know what it feels like to carry the weight of expectations and fail under the eyes of those who should be proud. But listen to me—Irene, this isn’t just about pride anymore. What happened today has consequences beyond the arena.”
She narrowed her eyes. “Consequences?”
“Yes. Enzo isn’t just some alpha you can dismiss. He’s powerful. His pack is powerful. And whether you like it or not, humiliating his omega could strain everything your father has been working toward.”
Irene sneered. “Then let Father deal with him. I don’t care about his pack or his alliances. Let him tear the contract apart for all I care.”
I shook my head. “You may not care, but your father does. And so should you. If Enzo turns against us because of this, it won’t just be his alliance we lose—it’ll be his influence, his backing, his resources. You know what that means for us, don’t you?”
Her silence was telling. She did know. She had grown up watching Rowland make deals, expand his influence, strengthen his name. She wasn’t blind to how fragile such alliances could be.
I knelt in front of her, forcing her to meet my eyes. “Irene, I am sorry for pushing you so far. I’ll take responsibility for that. But right now, we can’t afford to waste time on tantrums and vengeance. We need to focus on keeping Enzo’s alliance intact. Otherwise, everything your father has built will start to crumble.”
For once, her eyes faltered. Her grip on the pillow loosened, though her jaw remained tense. “You think Father cares about me right now? All he sees is his precious alliance. He probably wishes Lisa was his daughter instead of me.”
The bitterness in her words struck deeper than I expected. I placed a hand on her arm, gently. “He may be angry, but you are still his daughter. Don’t let one fight define your worth. We’ll fix this together. But for now, please… trust me. Trust your father.”
She scoffed, but there was no real fire behind it anymore. “Fine. Do what you want. But if I see Lisa again, Bryan… nothing you say will stop me.”
I knew that wasn’t an empty threat. I nodded slowly, rising to my feet. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
---
Later that night, I joined Alpha Rowland in his private chambers, where a small council had already gathered. The tension in the air was suffocating. Rowland sat at the head of the table, his expression dark and unforgiving. His fists clenched against the polished wood, and his presence filled the room like a storm waiting to break.
“I will not tolerate this disgrace,” Rowland growled, his voice shaking the glasses on the table. “My daughter—my daughter—challenged in front of the entire assembly by an omega? Do you understand how this ridicules me? How it ridicules our name? They will whisper about this for months. They will laugh. They will say Alpha Rowland cannot even keep his own house in order.”
The elders shifted uncomfortably, no one daring to interrupt.
I cleared my throat carefully, leaning forward. “Alpha, with respect, we should tread carefully. I know what happened was humiliating, but the situation is more delicate than it appears.”
Rowland’s head snapped toward me, his eyes sharp and dangerous. “Delicate? Are you telling me that my daughter being bested by an omega is delicate, Bryan?”
I kept my voice steady despite the heat of his glare. “Yes. Because the omega isn’t just any wolf. She belongs to Enzo. And if we let this rift deepen, we risk more than humiliation—we risk losing Enzo’s alliance entirely.”
A heavy silence fell over the room. The elders glanced at each other nervously.
Rowland leaned back slowly, his jaw tight. “So what are you suggesting? That I grovel before Enzo? That I let him think he can walk into my pack and disrespect my bloodline?”
“No,” I said firmly. “I’m suggesting we acknowledge the weight of his position. Enzo has power. His influence extends further than any of us would like to admit. If he chooses to terminate his alliance with us, it will set off a chain reaction. Other alphas will question our stability. Our enemies will sense weakness. And all because of this ruckus Irene caused.”
Rowland slammed a hand against the table, making one of the elders flinch. “Don’t you dare put this on me, Bryan. Don’t you dare blame Irene as though she alone is at fault.”
I bowed my head slightly, conceding. “I am not blaming her, Alpha. I am saying we need to manage the fallout. If we allow our pride to rule us now, it will cost us far more than we can afford.”
For a long moment, Rowland’s chest heaved with barely restrained fury. Then, finally, he exhaled, his tone low but resolute. “Then I will go to Enzo myself.”
The words landed heavily, like a decree carved into stone. The elders looked at him in disbelief, some opening their mouths as if to protest but quickly closing them again.
I blinked. “You’ll… go to him?”
“Yes.” His eyes burned with determination. “If Enzo thinks he can take liberties with my pack, then I will face him directly. I will speak with him, man to man, alpha to alpha. If he dares to sever our alliance, he will have to say it to my face.”
I swallowed hard. This was both a bold and dangerous move. Rowland was not known for diplomacy—he was known for dominance. But if he truly meant to go, then the outcome of that meeting could determine the future of us all.
“Very well,” I said quietly, though my stomach knotted with unease. “Then we will prepare for your meeting with Enzo.”
Rowland’s lips curled into a grim smile. “Good. Let him see that Alpha Rowland does not cower. Let him see that no matter how many omegas he raises up, my name will not be dragged into the dirt.”
As the meeting ended, I couldn’t shake the unease twisting in my gut. This could save us—or destroy everything we had left.
