Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 266

Ryan sat at his desk, his head buried in paperwork, trying to drown out the thoughts that had been plaguing him since his confrontation with Serena.

His jaw clenched as flashes of the scene played in his mind—the way she had dismissed him, the smug look of the man who had defended her, and the way she had coldly ended things between them.

He cursed under his breath and ran a hand through his hair.

A knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts.

“Come in,” he said, his voice gruff.

Jefferson, his assistant, walked in with a polite nod.

“Sir, your meeting with the board is set to begin in a few minutes. They’re waiting for you in the boardroom.”

Ryan sighed, leaning back in his chair. “Right. I almost forgot.”

Jefferson cleared his throat.

“It’s an important one, sir. They’ll be discussing the quarterly projections and future investments.”

Ryan waved him off. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll be there.”

Jefferson hesitated. “Shall I get your files ready?”

Ryan stood up, adjusting his suit. “No need. I’ll handle it.”

As he walked out of the office, heading to the boardroom, his phone buzzed in his pocket.

He glanced at the screen—Ethan.

Not now, he thought, but something told him to answer.

“Ethan,” Ryan said as he put the phone to his ear.

“Hey, man,” Ethan’s voice came through, full of concern. “How’s it going? Have you gotten the pregnancy test done for Kate yet?”

Ryan sighed heavily, rubbing his temple. “No, Ethan. Things have gotten… complicated.”

Ethan groaned. “Complicated? How? What now?”

Ryan scoffed bitterly.

“Serena. She’s not who I thought she was. She lied to me, manipulated me, and ruined what I had with Kate years ago in school.”

Ethan paused for a moment.

“Ryan… are you sure about that? I mean, you and Serena… you’ve been through a lot. Maybe—”

“Don’t,” Ryan cut him off sharply. “I trusted her, Ethan. I thought we had something going on, but I was wrong.”

Ethan sighed. “So, what now? Are you gonna stick with Kate?”

Ryan hesitated before replying.

“I don’t know. But what I do know is that I’m going to make sure Amy stays with me. Serena is not fit to take care of my kid.”

Ethan frowned. “Ryan, you can’t just take Amy away from her mother. That’s extreme.”

Ryan gritted his teeth.

“No, Ethan. She’s a whore. She flirts with different men like it’s a hobby. I won’t have my daughter growing up in that kind of environment.”

Ethan’s voice grew stern. “Ryan, that’s too much. You’re angry right now. Don’t do something you’ll regret later.”

Ryan let out a harsh laugh. “Regret? My only regret is not seeing her for what she really is sooner.”

Ethan sighed. “Look, man, do what you think is best, but think it through.”

Ryan didn’t answer right away. “I will,” he said finally, ending the call before Ethan could say anything else.

By the time he hung up, he was looking even more frustrated.

After a while, the board meeting was finally over, and he realized Amy’s school would be letting out soon.

He checked his watch and cursed under his breath.

He wasn’t going to miss this opportunity.

“Jefferson,” he called out as he walked back to his office.

Jefferson stepped in. “Yes, sir?”

“Take care of the office for the rest of the day. I have something important to do,” Ryan instructed, already grabbing his car keys.

Jefferson nodded. “Understood, sir.”

Ryan left the building in a hurry and drove straight to Amy’s school.

As he pulled up, he spotted her standing at the front gates, clutching her pink backpack, her eyes scanning the crowd.

The moment she saw him, her face lit up. “Daddy!”

Ryan stepped out and crouched down to her level, opening his arms. “Hey, sweetheart.”

Amy ran into his arms, hugging him tightly. “I missed you, Daddy!”

Ryan smiled softly, holding her close. “I missed you too, princess.”

Amy pulled back and looked up at him with bright eyes. “Are we going to Mommy’s house?”

Ryan shook his head. “No, baby. I was thinking you could spend some time with me at my place today. How does that sound?”

Amy’s eyes widened in excitement. “Really? We can play and watch movies?”

Ryan chuckled, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

“Of course. Anything you want.”

Amy grinned and nodded enthusiastically. “Yay!”

Ryan lifted her up into his arms and carried her to the car, buckling her in before driving home.

The entire ride, Amy chartered away about her day at school, and Ryan found himself smiling despite the mess in his life.

When they finally arrived at his house, he carried Amy to the front door.

As he unlocked it and stepped inside, Kate appeared in the doorway, wearing a silky robe.

Her eyes widened in shock the moment she saw Amy.

“Ryan,” she gasped. “What… What is she doing here?”

Amy blinked, looking at Kate curiously. “Hi.”

Kate forced a smile, though her eyes were filled with confusion and something close to irritation.

“Hi there, sweetheart,” she said sweetly, but her gaze quickly shifted back to Ryan. “Can I talk to you for a second?”

Ryan sighed, setting Amy down. “Go play in the living room, sweetheart. I’ll be right there.”

Amy nodded and skipped off, leaving Kate and Ryan standing awkwardly in the hallway.

Kate crossed her arms and lowered her voice.

“Ryan, why did you bring her here? You know how I feel about this.”

Ryan frowned. “Kate, she’s my daughter. I don’t need permission to spend time with her.”

Kate exhaled sharply.

“That’s not what I meant. I just… I wasn’t expecting this. We were finally getting back on track, and now you’re bringing her into our space?”

Ryan’s eyes darkened. “Kate, Amy is not a problem. She’s my responsibility.”

Kate sighed, touching his arm gently.

“I know, I know. I just wish you had told me first.”

Ryan shrugged her hand off. “Well, she’s here now, so let’s deal with it.”

Kate plastered a tight smile on her face. “Of course. I’ll… I’ll try to get along with her.”

Ryan nodded, and strode away.

He couldn’t see the discomfort in Kate’s eyes.

“I’ve got to do something about this pesky kid!” Kate said through gritted teeth.
