Ryan stood outside Serena’s office, waiting anxiously for her to finish work so they could leave.

His mind was racing with thoughts of Amy.

He had spent years not knowing he had a daughter, and now that he did, he couldn’t waste another second.

Serena finally stepped out, holding her bag, and gave him a small nod. “Are you ready to finally meet her officially?”

Ryan nodded quickly. “Yeah. Though I’m anxious about what she would feel about me. But, Let’s go pick her up.”

They walked to Serena’s car in silence.

Ryan kept stealing glances at her, his heart pounding with nervous anticipation.

He was sweating profusely even though the car air condition was on.

Serena sighed. “I told her things… but not the truth. I’ll explain it to her tonight.”

“You helped me press the elevator button!” She turned to Serena with a puzzled look. “Why is he here, Mommy?”

“He’s… a friend, sweetheart. We’ll talk more at home, okay?”

Amy nodded, satisfied with the answer for now, and held Serena’s hand.

As they walked to the car, Ryan followed closely behind, his eyes never leaving the little girl.

He couldn’t believe how smart and polite she was.

Once they got home, Amy rushed inside, dropping her school bag near the door.

“Mommy, can I watch cartoons?”

Serena smiled.

“Not yet, sweetie. Let’s get you cleaned up first.” She glanced at Ryan. “Make yourself comfortable.”

Ryan nodded and sat on the couch, watching as Serena led Amy to the bathroom.

His heart pounded with nerves.

Soon, Amy would know the truth, and he wasn’t sure how she’d react.

A little while later, Serena brought Amy back, now in her comfy pajamas, her hair damp and brushed neatly.

Ryan smiled at her. “Looking good, princess.”

Amy giggled. “Thank you, Mr. Elevator Man!”

Serena cleared her throat. “Amy, come sit with Mommy.”

Amy climbed onto Serena’s lap, resting her head against her mother’s chest.

Serena took a deep breath and looked into her daughter’s curious eyes.

“Sweetheart, you remember how I told you about your daddy?”

Amy nodded. “You said he loved me but couldn’t stay with us.”

Serena swallowed, holding Amy closer. “Well… I wasn’t completely honest with you.”

Amy’s eyes widened. “You weren’t?”

Serena shook her head and pointed to Ryan.

“Amy, Mr. Ryan here… he’s not just a nice man from the elevator. He’s your daddy.”

Amy’s mouth fell open. “What?” She blinked at Ryan in shock.

Amy slid off Serena’s lap and stood there for a moment, looking between the two adults.

“I’ll always be here for you now, princess.”

Serena wiped her eyes and smiled softly. “Come on, let’s have dinner.”

During dinner, Amy talked nonstop, telling Ryan about her favorite cartoons, her best friend at school, and how she loved spaghetti.

Ryan listened intently, laughing and nodding, soaking in every word she said. He felt like he was in a dream—one he never wanted to wake up from.

After they finished, Serena stood up. “Amy, it’s bedtime.”

Amy pouted.

“Can Daddy tuck me in?”

Serena hesitated, then nodded. “Okay.”

Ryan lifted Amy into his arms, holding her close. “Let’s get you to bed, princess.”

Once inside her room, Ryan tucked her under the covers, brushing her hair gently.

Amy smiled sleepily. “I’m glad you’re my daddy.”

Serena stood by the door watching as Ryan gazed at their daughter lovingly.

Once Amy drifted off to sleep, she walked over and whispered, “Come on.”

They stepped out and shut the door quietly.

As they walked back to the living room, Ryan cleared his throat.

“I should probably get going.”

Instead, she slowly untied the robe she was wearing and let it slip off her shoulders, revealing a silky nightgown underneath.

Ryan’s eyes widened. “Serena… what are you doing?”
