Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 348
Ryan pulled up in front of Serena’s house, the headlights of his car illuminating the driveway.
It was late—later than he had planned—but Amy had been so full of energy after their day out that it had taken a while to finally get her to agree to head home.
Now, however, the little girl was barely keeping her eyes open.
She clutched her stuffed bunny tightly, resting her head against Ryan’s chest as he carried her toward the front door.
The moment Serena opened it, Amy perked up, her drowsiness temporarily forgotten.
“Mommy!” she squealed excitedly. “We had so much fun today! Daddy bought me so many things—look!”
Serena’s eyes moved to the multiple shopping bags Ryan had placed on the floor beside him. There were far too many. She crossed her arms, shooting him a sharp glance.
“Ryan, this is too much.”
Ryan simply smirked. “It’s not.”
“It is.”
Amy, completely oblivious to the tension between her parents, kept blabbering.
“We went to the toy store, and then we had ice cream! And then we went to take pictures, and Daddy let me wear a princess dress! It was so pretty, Mommy! You have to see it!”
Serena sighed, crouching to Amy’s level. “That sounds like a lot of fun, baby.” She tucked a strand of hair behind her daughter’s ear before glancing back at Ryan. “The pictures… You’ll send them to me?”
Ryan nodded. “I will. All of them.”
Serena straightened. “Only the ones with Amy alone. I don’t need the rest.”
Ryan’s expression faltered for a brief second, but he quickly covered it with a nod. He understood why she said it, but it still stung.
“Alright,” he murmured.
Serena said nothing more and took Amy from him, shifting her onto her hip. “Come on, sweetheart, let’s get you cleaned up before bed.”
Amy yawned loudly, snuggling into her mother’s shoulder.
Serena carried her toward her bedroom while Ryan began bringing in the shopping bags. One after the other, he placed them neatly in a corner by the couch.
Once everything was inside, he looked around the quiet house, his gaze settling on the spot where Serena had just disappeared with Amy.
Inside the bedroom, Serena helped her daughter into her pajamas, brushing her hair softly as Amy fought off sleep.
“I love spending time with Daddy,” Amy mumbled, her voice thick with exhaustion.
Serena’s fingers stilled for a moment, but then she continued brushing. “I know you do, baby.”
“He’s nice. And funny.”
Serena hummed in response. She tucked the blanket around Amy, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. “Sleep now.”
Amy yawned again, her tiny fingers curling around the edge of her blanket. “Goodnight, Mommy…”
“Goodnight, my love.”
She waited until Amy’s breathing evened out before quietly leaving the room.
When she stepped back into the living room, she expected Ryan to be gone. But instead, there he was, stretched out on the couch, eyes closed.
Serena frowned.
He fell asleep?
Her arms crossed over her chest, and she stood there for a few seconds, watching him. He looked… peaceful. His sharp, chiseled features were relaxed in sleep, his chest rising and falling steadily. She had loved to see him sleep before, but it had been years ago—back when she still woke up beside him as his wife.
The memory stirred something uncomfortable within her, and she quickly pushed it away.
Shaking her head, she turned and walked off to her room, shutting the door behind her without another glance.
The moment she left, Ryan’s eyes fluttered open.
He had been awake the entire time.
He had hoped she would wake him up—maybe shake him gently, tell him to leave, or even… kiss him? Something. But instead, she had simply walked away.
A deep sigh left his lips.
This wasn’t going to be easy.
Still, he adjusted his position on the couch, laying properly this time. Within minutes, exhaustion claimed him, and he drifted off into real sleep.
Across town, Kate paced the length of Ryan’s living room, her arms folded tightly against her chest.
He hadn’t come home.
She checked the time on her phone. 11 PM.
Her jaw clenched.
She knew exactly where he was.
She immediately got changed and drove off to her apartment.
She stormed toward her bedroom, pulling open the closet. She needed something—something that would make her feel in control again.
Her eyes landed on the short silk dress hanging in the corner. A smirk touched her lips.
She changed quickly, the smooth fabric hugging her curves perfectly. She ran a brush through her hair, letting the dark waves fall over her shoulders, then applied a deep red lipstick.
Satisfied, she grabbed her phone and dialed a number.
It rang twice before a familiar voice answered.
“Kate?”
She smirked. “Miss me?”
There was a low chuckle on the other end. “You never pick up my calls, but now you’re calling me? What’s up, sweetheart?”
“I want to see you.”
Jake’s voice turned smug. “Yeah? Are you finally tired of Ryan?”
Kate rolled her eyes. “Just get over here.”
“I’m on my way.”
She ended the call and grabbed a bottle of wine, pouring two glasses. Settling onto her couch, she crossed her legs and waited.
Less than thirty minutes later, a knock sounded at the door.
She stood and sauntered over, opening it with a sly smile.
Jake stood there, tall and lean, dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans. His gaze roamed over her body, a smirk curving his lips.
“Damn,” he murmured. “You always know how to dress for the occasion.”
Kate chuckled. “Come in.”
He stepped inside, closing the door behind him.
She handed him a glass of wine.
Jake raised an eyebrow. “So, what’s the occasion?”
Kate took a sip from her glass, watching him over the rim. “I just needed a distraction.”
Jake grinned. “I can be a very good distraction.”
He took a slow step forward, his fingers tracing a line down her arm.
Kate tilted her head, allowing him closer. “Show me.”
He didn’t need to be told twice.
In a swift movement, he placed his glass on the table and pulled her against him. His lips found hers instantly, hot and demanding. Kate responded eagerly, her hands running through his hair as his grip tightened around her waist.
She felt a rush of satisfaction.
Ryan could have his little family reunion with Serena.
She didn’t care tonight.
She had her own way of keeping herself entertained.
Jake lifted her effortlessly, carrying her toward the bedroom, and Kate let him.
Tonight, she wasn’t thinking about Ryan Winters.
Tonight, she was going to make sure she forgot all about him and get enough pleasure.
