Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 260
Serena stood with her arms crossed, staring at Kate without moving an inch.
The tension in the room was thick, but Serena wasn’t about to give Kate the satisfaction of seeing her uncomfortable.
Kate let out a short chuckle, taking a step further inside.
“Aren’t you going to ask me to sit?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Serena scoffed.
“I don’t see the need,” she replied coldly. “You won’t be staying long enough to get comfortable.”
Kate waved a hand dismissively, smirking.
“Well, suit yourself. I didn’t come here for pleasantries anyway. What I have to say is way more important than me sitting down.”
Serena sighed impatiently. “Then say it and get out of my house.”
Kate’s smile widened as she tilted her head.
“I know what’s been going on between you and Ryan,” she said smugly.
“After divorcing him all those years ago, you suddenly decide to show up and worm your way back into his life. Trying to ruin my relationship with him, aren’t you?”
Serena’s lips curled into a smirk. “Oh, is that what you think?” she said, shaking her head.
“Kate, I’m only giving you a taste of your own medicine. Do you remember how you barged into my life back then and stole him from me? You made sure our marriage ended, didn’t you?”
Kate’s face darkened for a moment, but she quickly masked it with a fake smile.
“Ryan was mine from the start, Serena,” she said confidently. “If things hadn’t happened the way they did, you wouldn’t have stood a chance. You were nothing but a placeholder.”
Serena laughed, shaking her head in amusement
“Placeholder? Oh, Kate. You really are delusional. You think Ryan belongs to you? Newsflash—he’s not some prize to be won.”
Kate’s eyes narrowed.
“Don’t kid yourself, Serena. If I hadn’t stepped back then, you wouldn’t have had the chance to walk down the aisle with him. And you definitely wouldn’t have tasted his cock or—”
Serena cut her off with a mocking laugh.
“Oh, please. Let’s not get into the details, Kate. The truth is, Ryan and I have nothing going on. You’re getting worked up over nothing.”
Kate crossed her arms tightly, refusing to back down.
“I don’t believe that. I see everything going on, Serena. You still care about him and want him.”
Serena rolled her eyes.
“Ryan cares about a lot of things, Kate. Doesn’t mean he wants to be with me. I’m just here to make sure you get a little taste of your own medicine. You remember how it feels to have your life messed with, don’t you?”
Kate’s jaw clenched, but she forced another smile.
“Well, Serena, since you think you’re so smart, let me enlighten you.”
Serena arched a brow, pretending to look interested. “Oh? Enlighten me, then.”
Kate smirked and took a step closer, lowering her voice like she was sharing a secret.
“I’m pregnant,” she said slowly, watching Serena’s face carefully.
For a brief second, Serena’s expression faltered, but she quickly recovered with a nonchalant smile.
“Congratulations,” she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “I wish you all the luck in the world.”
Kate blinked, clearly expecting a different reaction.
“That’s all you have to say?” she asked, sounding slightly irritated.
Serena shrugged.
“What do you want me to say, Kate? If you came all the way here just to tell me this, then you really wasted your time. If you’re trying to spite me, hate to break it to you, but you failed.”
Kate’s smile faded as her hands balled into fists. “You don’t care?”
Serena shook her head.
“No, I don’t. Because Ryan is nothing but a fling to me. A distraction at best. You should really focus on your little happy family and stop worrying about me.”
Kate’s face turned red with anger. “You’re lying. I know you still have feelings for him.”
Serena chuckled, moving toward the door.
“Believe whatever you want, Kate. But if that’s all you came to say, you can leave now.”
She pulled the door open and stood aside, waiting for Kate to step out.
Kate glared at her, her fists trembling. “This isn’t over, Serena,” she snapped. “Not by a long shot.”
Serena raised an eyebrow. “Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
Kate stormed out, her heels clicking furiously against the floor.
Serena shut the door behind her with a loud bang, letting out a deep sigh.
She leaned against the door for a moment, closing her eyes. Pregnant? she thought, shaking her head. What a mess.
But she wasn’t going to let Kate see even a hint of doubt or worry.
The following morning, Ryan sat at the kitchen table, staring at his coffee cup as if it held all the answers to his problems.
His mind was racing, and the weight of everything that had happened in the last month pressed heavily on his shoulders.
He knew he couldn’t keep avoiding this. Ethan’s words echoed in his mind.
“You need to be sure, Ryan. Don’t just take her word for it. You owe it to yourself to know the truth.”
Ryan let out a frustrated sigh and reached for his phone.
He scrolled down to Kate’s contact, his finger hovering over the screen for a moment.
He wasn’t sure why he felt so reluctant, but he knew this had to be done.
Finally, he pressed the call button and put the phone to his ear.
Meanwhile, Kate was lounging on her couch, flipping through a fashion magazine with a satisfied smirk.
The conversation with Serena last night had left her feeling victorious.
She had seen the flicker of shock in Serena’s eyes, even if she tried to act tough.
Kate knew she had planted a seed of doubt in Serena’s mind, and that was enough for now.
Her phone buzzed beside her, and when she saw Ryan’s name flash across the screen, a triumphant smile spread across her lips.
“Well, well, finally,” she murmured to herself before answering.
“Ryan,” she greeted sweetly, stretching lazily on the couch.
“It’s been a while since you called first. Miss me already?” She chuckled softly, twirling a strand of her hair.
Ryan, however, wasted no time with pleasantries. His voice was cold and firm.
“Get ready, Kate. We’re going to the hospital at 10 for the check-up.”
Kate sat up straight, the smile instantly fading from her face.
“What?” she asked, her voice laced with surprise and a hint of panic.
“You heard me,” Ryan repeated without emotion. “I’ll pick you up at 10 sharp. Don’t keep me waiting.”
Kate swallowed, trying to compose herself.
“Ryan, is this really necessary?” she asked, forcing a small laugh.
“I mean, we both know the truth, don’t we? What’s the point—”
Ryan cut her off.
“I said, don’t keep me waiting, Kate.” His tone was sharper this time, and without another word, he ended the call.
Kate stared at her phone, blinking in disbelief.
“What the hell?” she muttered under her breath.
She hadn’t expected this.
Throwing her phone onto the couch, she stood up and paced around the room, chewing on her bottom lip.
“Stay calm, Kate,” she whispered to herself. “You can handle this. Just… stay calm.”
She glanced at the clock on the wall.
There were only a few hours left before Ryan would be here. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her phone again and dialed a number.
“Hello? Yeah, I need to see you. Now,” she said urgently before hanging up.
Kate looked at her reflection in the mirror, running a hand through her hair.
“You can’t let him ruin this,” she told herself, determination flashing in her eyes.
