Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 332
Serena had just finished setting the table when the doorbell rang.
Her heart leaped a little as she quickly wiped her hands on a kitchen towel and rushed to the door.
She had been trying to reach Ryan for the past hour, but his phone had been unreachable.
She figured he had probably been too busy with Amy to notice.
She unlocked the door and pulled it open, expecting to see both of them standing there, but the moment she saw Ryan holding a sleeping Amy in his arms, a soft smile formed on her lips.
“She’s out already?” Serena whispered, glancing at her daughter’s peaceful face.
Ryan nodded, adjusting Amy slightly in his arms. “She had a long day.”
Serena stepped forward, her hands reaching out. “Here, let me carry her—”
But Ryan took a small step back, shaking his head. “No, I’ll do it.”
Serena blinked, slightly taken aback by his insistence, but she nodded and stepped aside to let him in.
Ryan carried Amy inside with ease, carefully adjusting her weight in his arms as he walked toward the little girl’s bedroom.
Serena followed behind silently, watching as he entered Amy’s room and gently laid her down on the bed.
He pulled the blanket over her small frame and brushed a few strands of hair from her face, his touch gentle, almost reverent.
Serena leaned against the doorway, observing the tender moment.
It was still surreal to her—Ryan, the man she had once loved and hated all at once, was finally embracing his role as a father.
It wasn’t just about claiming Amy as his daughter. He was present. He was here.
Ryan placed a soft kiss on Amy’s forehead before turning back toward Serena.
She quickly straightened up, as if she hadn’t been watching him the whole time.
“She didn’t even wake up,” she said softly.
Ryan smirked. “She had too much fun today. She barely stayed awake in the car.”
Serena let out a small chuckle. “She’s never going to stop talking about it in the morning.”
Ryan chuckled as well, but his eyes lingered on Serena for a second too long.
She shifted under his gaze, unsure of why she suddenly felt nervous.
Clearing her throat, she turned away.
As much as she had forgiven him, she wasn’t sure how to navigate this situation between them.
Ryan, on the other hand, made himself comfortable on the couch, watching her as she set the table for dinner.
His sharp gaze followed her every movement.
“You said you forgave me,” he finally spoke, his deep voice breaking the silence. “But I can tell you’re still holding back.”
Serena paused, gripping the edge of the table. She wasn’t sure how to respond.
She had forgiven him, yes, but forgetting everything he had put her through wasn’t that easy.
“I need time,” she said simply, not meeting his gaze.
Ryan sighed, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. “I understand.
But I’m not going anywhere, Serena. I lost years with you and Amy because of my stupidity. I won’t let that happen again.”
She swallowed hard, ignoring the way his words made her chest tighten.
Instead of responding, she pulled out a chair and sat down, reaching for her spoon. “Have you eaten?”
Ryan shook his head. “No.”
She hesitated for a moment before sighing. “You can join me if you want.”
A small smile tugged at his lips as he got up and walked over.
He pulled out a chair beside her, sat down, and took a bite of the food in front of him. “This is good.”
Serena rolled her eyes. “Eat quietly.”
Ryan chuckled but obeyed. They ate in silence for a few minutes before he spoke again.
“Amy had so much fun today. She couldn’t stop laughing.”
Serena smiled softly. “That’s good. She deserves to be happy.”
Ryan set down his fork and turned to her. “So do you.”
Serena’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly masked her emotions. “I am happy,” she muttered.
Ryan didn’t look convinced. “Are you?”
She avoided his gaze. “I have Amy. That’s enough.”
Ryan exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t want to argue with you, Serena. I just want to make things right.”
She stood up, taking her plate with her. “You already apologized, Ryan. Let’s just leave it at that.”
He watched her silently as she walked into the kitchen.
He could tell she was putting up a wall, but he wasn’t going to push her tonight.
Instead, when she returned, he gave her a small smile. “Alright. I won’t push. But I’ll be here.”
Serena sighed, She looked up at him, her expression unreadable. “Forgiveness doesn’t mean things go back to the way they were, Ryan.”
Ryan studied her, his fingers tapping against the table. “I don’t expect things to go back overnight. I just… I don’t want to feel like a stranger in my own daughter’s life. Or in yours.”
Serena scoffed lightly. “You weren’t worried about that before.”
Ryan exhaled sharply. “And I regret that. Every single day. You have no idea how much.”
Serena met his gaze, something flickering in her eyes. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then, Ryan leaned forward. “If you’re not pushing me away, then why haven’t you called me once today when I took Amy out?”
Serena frowned. “I did. Your phone wasn’t reachable!”
Ryan blinked. He reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone. When he tried turning it on, it didn’t respond.
“Damn it. Battery must have died.” He looked back at her. “I wasn’t ignoring you on purpose.”
Serena crossed her arms. “Hmm, I never said you were. I was just concerned about my little princess..”
Ryan sighed. “Serena…”
Serena shook her head. “Look, I don’t want to fight. You’re here, Amy’s asleep, let’s just eat in peace.”
Ryan studied her for a moment before finally nodding. “Alright. But we’re not done talking about this.”
Serena sighed but didn’t argue. They ate in silence for a few minutes, but the tension in the air was still so thick.
Then, just as Serena was about to clear the plates, Ryan suddenly reached across the table, grabbing her wrist gently.
“Come with me somewhere,” he said.
Serena frowned. “What?”
Ryan’s grip was firm but not forceful. “Right now. Just a drive.”
Serena hesitated. “Ryan—”
“I just want to talk,” he said softly. “No fighting. No past. Just… us.”
Serena searched his face, trying to figure out if this was a bad idea.
But something about the way he looked at her made it hard to say no.
“…Fine,” she muttered. “But if I say I want to go home, you bring me back immediately.”
Ryan smirked. “Deal.”
Serena exhaled and stood up. “Let me grab my coat.”
As she walked toward the door, Ryan watched her, a small smile playing on his lips.
He didn’t know if tonight would change anything.
But he wasn’t going to stop trying to get her to forgive him from her heart.
