Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 258
It had been a month since the park incident, and things were finally getting better for Ryan.
Serena had started to trust him again, at least enough to let him spend more time with Amy.
Every moment with his daughter felt like a gift he didn’t want to waste.
That evening, Ryan called Serena while sitting in his office.
He leaned back in his chair, waiting for her to pick up.
“Hello?” Serena’s voice came through the phone, sounding a little distracted.
“Hey,” Ryan said with a small smile.
“I was thinking… I could pick Amy up from school today. Give you a break.”
There was a pause on the other end. “You sure?” Serena finally asked.
“I mean, I’ve got a ton of work here, so that would actually help a lot, but…”
Ryan chuckled. “I promise I won’t mess up. Come on, Serena, I’ve been doing great, haven’t I?”
Serena sighed.
“I guess so. Okay, you can pick her up. Just in case, please make sure she eats something healthy before she gets home, and no sweets before dinner, alright?”
Ryan laughed. “Got it. No sugar. Just a healthy, responsible dad picking up his kid.”
Serena chuckled softly. “Alright, Ryan. Thanks. I appreciate it.”
“Anytime, Serena. I’m just here for your beck and call!” Ryan said, grinning from ear to ear before hanging up.
An hour later, Ryan was parked outside Amy’s school, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel as he waited.
When the school bell rang, he quickly got down from his car and rested his body against it.
He spotted Amy skipping out with her backpack swinging behind her.
Her face lit up the moment she saw it was him who came to pick her up.
“Daddy!” she squealed, running straight into his arms.
Ryan lifted her up and twirled her around. “Hey, princess! How was school today?”
Amy gasped dramatically. “Daddy, you won’t believe it! So much happened! Do you want to hear it all?”
Ryan opened the car door and helped her into the back seat. “Oh yeah! Tell me everything, princess.”
As they drove, Amy talked non-stop about her day.
“And guess what, Daddy?” she said excitedly, pulling out a folded piece of paper from her bag. “Look at this drawing!”
Ryan glanced at the colorful drawing she handed him while keeping his eyes on the road.
“Wow! This is really good! Did you draw this?”
Amy giggled. “No, Daddy! The most handsome boy in my class drew it for me!”
Ryan nearly choked on his laughter.
“Handsome, huh? And what’s his name?”
Amy shrugged. “I dunno, Daddy. But all the girls say he’s super cute! I think he is cute too.” She said, grinning.
Ryan playfully rolled his eyes. “Hmm. I think Daddy might need to have a word with this ‘handsome’ boy.”
Amy giggled. “No, Daddy! He’s nice. I like him!”
Ryan was about to respond when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and his smile faded instantly.
Kate.
He sighed and pulled the car over to the side of the road. “Hold on a sec, sweetheart, Daddy has to take this call.”
Amy nodded, watching curiously as he answered the phone. “Hello?”
Kate’s slurry voice came through the line. “Ryan… where are you?”
Ryan rubbed his temple.
“I’m just finishing up a business meeting,” he lied smoothly, glancing at Amy through the rearview mirror.
Kate scoffed. “Oh, really? Business, huh? Well, we need to talk. It’s important.”
Ryan sighed. “Kate, I’m busy right now. Maybe some other time.”
“No, Ryan,” Kate said sharply.
“I’m already at your place. If you don’t come back soon, you might just find my dead body there instead.”
Ryan stiffened. “What the hell, Kate? Don’t joke about that!”
“I’m not joking,” Kate said flatly. “I’m serious, Ryan. Be here.”
Before he could respond, she hung up.
Ryan exhaled deeply, staring at his phone in frustration.
“Daddy, who was that?” Amy asked curiously, tilting her head.
Ryan forced a smile. “Just a business partner, princess. Nothing to worry about.”
He put the car back in gear and continued driving toward Serena’s house, but his mind was racing.
Kate’s words unsettled him, and for the first time in weeks, he felt like his peaceful life was about to fall apart again.
When they arrived at Serena’s house, Ryan walked Amy to the door, where Serena was already waiting.
Amy jumped into her mother’s arms.
“Mommy! Daddy picked me up, and I told him all about my day!”
Serena smiled warmly at her daughter.
“That’s great, baby.” Then she turned to Ryan. “Thanks for picking her up.”
Ryan shrugged. “No problem. It was fun.”
Serena raised an eyebrow. “And? Did she have any snacks?”
Ryan smirked. “No sugar, I promised .”
Amy pouted. “But, Mommy, Daddy said he would talk to the handsome boy in my class!”
Serena chuckled. “Oh, did he now?”
Ryan rubbed the back of his neck. “I might have said something like that.”
Serena rolled her eyes playfully. “You’re impossible.”
Ryan glanced at his watch, feeling the weight of Kate’s words pressing on his mind.
“Listen, I’d love to stay, but I should get going.”
Serena frowned. “Leaving so soon? Usually, you waste at least an hour here.”
Ryan hesitated. “Yeah, I just… I have some stuff to take care of.”
Serena eyed him suspiciously but nodded. “Alright. Thanks again, Ryan.”
Ryan knelt down and kissed Amy’s forehead. “Be good, princess. I’ll see you soon.”
Amy waved enthusiastically. “Bye, Daddy!”
Ryan turned and walked briskly to his car, feeling an uneasy sense of dread creeping in.
When Ryan arrived home, his stomach twisted as he saw Kate sitting on his couch, waiting for him.
She was wearing a short dress, her legs crossed, and chewing gum loudly.
“Kate,” he said cautiously. “What’s going on?”
Kate stood up slowly, her eyes locked onto his. “I needed to see you, Ryan. This is important.”
Ryan rubbed his temples. “Look, if this is about us, I thought we were done talking about it.”
Kate smiled faintly. “Oh, we are. But this isn’t about that.”
Ryan sighed. “Then what is it?”
Kate stepped closer, placing a hand on her stomach dramatically.
“I’m pregnant, Ryan.”
Ryan’s eyes widened. “What?”
Kate smirked. “You heard me. I’m having your baby.”
Ryan took a step back, his heart pounding. “No… that can’t be true.”
Kate tilted her head. “Oh, but it is. And now… what are you going to do about it?”
Ryan’s mind went blank as he stared at her, unable to process what she had just said.
