Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 66

Lisa's POV

I had just finished folding the last of my blouses into neat little squares when I stepped back to admire the order inside my wardrobe. Finally, everything was in place—no stray sleeves hanging out, no shoes mismatched. For once, my room felt like mine, a small corner of peace in a house that was always buzzing with footsteps and orders.

I was about to sit on the bed and take a breath when the door opened without warning.

“Lisa,” Calla’s voice carried in, brisk as ever, and she stepped inside without hesitation. “Start packing.”

I blinked at her. “Packing? For what? I just arranged all of this.” My eyes darted from her face to the wardrobe I’d just spent the better part of the morning organizing. “What’s going on?”

She moved further into the room, glancing around like she was making a mental checklist. “Alpha Enzo’s orders. You’re moving to the upper room in our quarters. I’ve brought some guards to assist you.”

For a second, I just stood there, my brain tripping over the words. “Upper room? In your quarters?”

“Yes.” Her tone was calm, as though this was the most ordinary thing in the world. “It’s larger, better lighting, more privacy. The Alpha said you’d be more comfortable there.”

I stared at her, searching for any flicker of a joke in her expression. None. She was deadly serious. “Comfortable? I’ve been here for months without a single change in room assignment, and now suddenly I’m… being moved?”

Calla gave a small shrug, not unkind but final. “Orders are orders, Lisa. I don’t make them, I carry them out. Now—” she gestured toward the open door “—the guards will help you with the heavy lifting. You take care of the rest.”

Her words landed with a mix of surprise and a faint undercurrent of unease in my chest. Why would Alpha Enzo want me moved now, out of nowhere?

I swallowed, nodding slowly. “Alright… I’ll pack.”

She gave me a quick smile, the kind that wasn’t meant to invite questions. “Good. I’ll be back in a bit to see if you’re done.” And with that, she left, the sound of her boots fading down the hall.

The guards stepped in silently, two tall men with expressions that gave nothing away. They began pulling my suitcases out from under the bed while I started carefully lifting my folded clothes from the wardrobe. My hands felt mechanical, moving without much thought as my mind whirled.

By the time the last of my shoes were tucked away, the wardrobe looked bare, almost foreign. It was strange how quickly a room could lose its identity.

The walk to the upper quarters felt longer than it should have. The guards carried most of my things ahead of me, and I trailed behind, clutching a small box of personal items—a few books, my hairbrush, a photo frame.

When we reached the new room, Calla was already there, standing by the open door. “Here it is,” she said, stepping aside so I could enter.

The first thing I noticed was the light—sun poured in through wide windows, spilling across the polished wooden floor. The air was fresher, the space noticeably larger. A neatly made bed stood against the far wall, and beside it, a desk with a single chair.

“It’s… nice,” I admitted, setting my box down on the desk.

Calla nodded, her lips curling in a brief approving smile. “I thought you’d like it. The bathroom’s through there. Closet space is on your left. Take your time settling in.”

The guards began unloading my suitcases, placing them neatly by the closet. Calla supervised until the last item was in, then gave me a final nod. “I’ll leave you to it. Dinner’s at the usual time.”

When they left, the silence was almost too heavy. I stood in the middle of the room, taking it in. It was undeniably an upgrade, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this than simple generosity.

I’d just started unpacking when I heard the knock. It was light, not the authoritative kind that made you straighten your back.

I opened the door and froze for a moment.

Kael.

He was leaning slightly against the doorframe, his usual easy smile on his lips. In his hands, a small box tied with a ribbon.

“Welcome to the upper floor,” he said, his voice warm. “Thought I’d bring you a little housewarming gift.”

My brows lifted as I stepped back to let him in. “You didn’t have to…”

He entered, holding out the box. “Chocolates. The good kind.”

I took it from him, my fingers brushing his just briefly. “Thank you,” I murmured, feeling a small smile tug at my lips despite the confusion still swirling inside me.

“I figured the move might feel strange,” he said, glancing around the room. “New walls, new view… sometimes it’s easier with something sweet.”

I placed the chocolates on the desk, turning back to face him. “Do you know why Alpha Enzo had me moved?”

He tilted his head, as though weighing how much to say. “Let’s just say he wanted you closer to the people who can look out for you.”

That didn’t exactly clear things up, but I let it go for the moment. “Well… it is a nice room.”

Kael’s smile softened. “It suits you.”

I held his gaze for a heartbeat longer than I meant to before breaking it and glancing at the unopened suitcase. “I should finish unpacking.”

“I’ll let you get to it,” he said, stepping toward the door. Then, pausing, he added with a wink, “But don’t forget to try those chocolates. They’re best when shared.”

And just like that, he was gone, leaving me standing there with the faintest warmth creeping into my chest.

Still… I couldn’t shake the thought—nothing in this house happened without a reason.

I had barely sat down to reorganize my thoughts when I heard another knock, this time more lighter. I heaved a long sigh before opening the door and was met with the charming smile of Calla.

“Thought you might need some companion” she said, shining her beautiful white set of teeth while I nodded my head slowly.
