Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 350

6 min 2 views

Kate sat on the edge of Rolly’s couch, her nails tapping impatiently against the glass coffee table as she relayed everything that had happened that morning.

She was still fuming from her argument with Ryan, still furious that he had the audacity to take down her interview without even discussing it with her.

“He took it down, Rolly. Just like that. Like I was some liar, like I was spreading false stories when everything I said was the truth!”

Rolly leaned back on the couch, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips as she took a slow sip of her coffee.

“I told you, you’re losing your grip on him. The more you let Serena run around freely, the more control you lose.”

Kate scowled. “And that’s exactly why I need to act fast. I can’t keep waiting around, hoping Ryan will finally do the right thing and put a ring on my finger. Serena is lurking in the background with her little girl, and Ryan is falling for the trap.”

Rolly arched her brow. “So, what’s your plan?”

Kate set down her cup with a sharp clink. “I need to get engaged to him before it’s too late. I need his parents on my side. If they pressure him, he won’t have a choice but to do the right thing. He’s been with me for too long to still be treating me like an option.”

Rolly hummed in agreement. “You’re not wrong. His mother has always liked you, and his father… Well, he likes anything that keeps Ryan in line.”

Kate nodded eagerly. “Exactly. If I go there and remind them how long I’ve been with Ryan, how much I’ve done for him, they’ll push him in the right direction. I just need to get them on my side completely.”

Rolly smirked. “Then go. Strike while the iron is hot.”

Kate didn’t need to be told twice. She stood, grabbed her bag, and strode towards the door. “I’ll call you later,” she said over her shoulder before slipping out.

Once inside her car, she adjusted her rearview mirror and started the engine. She had no time to waste. If she wanted Ryan locked down, she needed to act now.

The roads were busy, the morning traffic slowing her down more than she would have liked. She tapped her fingers on the steering wheel, irritated at every red light.

She needed to get to Ryan’s parents before he had a chance to talk to them himself— that’s if he would.

Just as she was about to switch lanes, a black car sped up beside her, swerving abruptly to block her way.

Kate slammed on the brakes, her heart lurching as the tires screeched against the pavement.

“What the hell?” she hissed, gripping the wheel tightly.

The car in front of her didn’t move.

Kate’s pulse quickened.

Who the hell was this?

Seconds passed, then the driver’s side door of the black car opened.

Kate’s grip tightened on the steering wheel as she watched the man step out.

Her stomach twisted into a knot.

Steve Jacobs.

She swallowed hard.

He was supposed to be gone. He was supposed to be out of the picture, far away from any of this. And yet, here he was, standing in front of her car, staring at her with a look that made her blood run cold.

She remained seated, her mind racing. For him to come to her meant he knew. He had found out.

Damn it.

A sharp knock on her window made her flinch.

Kate turned her head slowly, meeting his piercing gaze through the glass.

“Get out of the car,” he said, his voice low and firm.

For a moment, she considered pretending she didn’t hear him, pretending she had no idea why he was here.

But the way he looked at her, the controlled fury in his eyes, told her she had no way out of this.

Taking a deep breath, she unlocked the door and stepped out, flipping her hair over her shoulder as if she wasn’t affected.

Steve let out a dark chuckle, shaking his head.

“You really played me for a fool, didn’t you?”

Kate crossed her arms. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Steve’s expression hardened. “Don’t play dumb, Vanessa—”

Kate stiffened.

He smirked. “Or should I say, Kate Andrews?”

She kept her face blank, though her mind was screaming. If he was calling her by her real name, then he knew everything.

Steve took a slow step forward, his tall frame towering over her. “I trusted you. I never knew you yet I conversed with you, and you fed me nothing but lies.”

Kate scoffed, lifting her chin. “You’re acting like you were some innocent victim. Don’t flatter yourself, Steve.”

His jaw clenched. “You used me. Manipulated me. Uploaded a fake voice recording to screw over Serena.”

Kate smirked. “And? What are you going to do about it?”

Steve’s eyes darkened, and for the first time since stepping out of her car, a flicker of unease crept up her spine.

“I’m not a man you want to cross, Kate,” he said, his voice dangerously quiet. “And if you don’t want to be hunted down like an animal, you’ll stay out of my way. You’ll stay out of Serena’s way.”

Kate let out a dry laugh. “Or what?”

Steve leaned in slightly, his voice dropping even lower. “Or you won’t live to tell the story.”

A chill ran down her spine, but she refused to let it show.

“You’re making threats now?” she taunted. “How very predictable.”

Steve smirked, but there was nothing warm about it. “It’s not a threat, Kate. It’s a promise.”

Kate stared at him, trying to gauge how serious he was.

She knew Steve was powerful. She knew he had the connections to make people disappear.

But she wasn’t going to back down.

She stepped closer, a smirk playing on her lips. “Well, Steve, I hate to disappoint you, but I’m not scared of you.”

Steve studied her for a long moment before chuckling. “You should be.”

Without another word, he turned and walked back to his car.

Kate stood there, her heart hammering against her ribs as she watched him get in and drive off.

She exhaled sharply, gripping the edge of her car door.

Damn it.

This was bad.

Really bad.

She had thought she had covered her tracks, but clearly, she had underestimated him.

Her hands clenched into fists.

She wouldn’t let him ruin everything.

She had worked too hard for this.

With a determined glare, she slid back into her car and sped off.

If Steve wanted to play games, she would play too.

But she wasn’t going to lose.
