Third person POV

The chamber was drowning in shadows. Malrik stood at the heart of the ritual circle, his hands raised, his voice echoing with ancient chants that made the very stones groan. His power was a storm of black fire, wrapping around Enzo’s bleeding form and Lisa’s trembling body. The chains binding the Alpha glowed with cursed light, drawing his blood in streams that ran like rivers into the circle, merging with Lisa’s essence, forcing both of them into Malrik’s dark tether. Their screams became one, their bodies convulsing as their energies intertwined, feeding his rebirth.

The glow of the sigils on the floor pulsed faster, faster, like a heart beating toward eruption.

Then the chamber doors exploded inward.

The iron and stone blew apart in a deafening crash, fragments scattering across the ground. Soldiers in armor stormed through, followed by Kael in his towering Lycan form, Atlas at his side, Ash with his blade already blazing, and behind them the children—Lyra, Aria, Elias—faces pale but fierce. The air filled with their collective power, rushing like a wave into the chamber.

Malrik’s head turned slowly. His lips curved into a cruel smile. “More lambs for the slaughter.”

Kael did not waste breath on threats. With a savage roar, he lunged forward, his claws crackling with raw force. Atlas struck alongside him, fists glowing with his elemental strength, while Ash’s sword cut arcs of searing light that split through Malrik’s shadows. The soldiers behind them let loose their spears, enchanted bolts piercing the air like lightning.

The chamber erupted in chaos.

Malrik’s laughter echoed, low and chilling. With a flick of his hand, the shadows thickened, twisting into blades and tendrils. He spun them outward, deflecting the spears, shattering Ash’s strike with a single wave. His other hand rose, and a wall of black fire burst forth, halting Kael mid-charge. Atlas slammed a fist into the wall, cracking it, but Malrik’s force flung him backward across the stone floor.

“Pathetic,” Malrik hissed. He thrust both palms forward, and the shadows coiled like serpents, wrapping around each warrior. Kael was yanked from the air, slammed down into the ground. Ash’s sword arm was bound tight, the blade clattering uselessly away. Atlas snarled, straining, but the tendrils tightened like steel chains.

The soldiers fared no better. One by one they were swept aside, slammed into walls, bound in coils of black magic. Their cries filled the chamber, echoing against the ritual’s hum.

Malrik’s focus never wavered. With one hand, he held them all bound. With the other, he continued his ritual, chanting as the circle blazed brighter, the connection between Enzo and Lisa deepening, their bodies writhing in shared torment.

Lyra’s small voice rose above the chaos, trembling but urgent. “Father!” she cried to Enzo, her eyes blazing with determination despite the terror in them. “Distract him! Keep his eyes on you—I know a way to break his hold!”

Enzo’s head jerked toward her, his chest heaving, his body straining against the chains that bit into his flesh. His blood dripped steadily into the circle, each drop feeding Malrik’s power. “Lyra…” his voice cracked, hoarse with pain. “Don’t—”

“You have to!” she shouted, desperation cutting through her fear. “We’ll never be free if you don’t!”

Malrik’s head turned at her words, his smirk widening. “Ah. The little wolf thinks she knows something. Perhaps I should silence you first—”

Aria cut him off, her voice steady though her hands trembled as she pressed them together, summoning a wave of psychic force. “Don’t touch her! I’ll put you to sleep, monster—even if only for a moment!” Her eyes glowed, power trembling in the air around her.

Malrik chuckled darkly. “Sleep? Child, do you think shadows can dream?” He gestured, and the shadows around her tightened like coils, but before they could crush her, Kael roared.

The elder Lycan surged, muscles straining as he shattered the tendrils holding him. His body glowed with primal energy, raw force bursting outward. “You won’t touch them!” he bellowed. He lunged, grabbing hold of Malrik’s arm, and their powers clashed in a violent surge that cracked the stones beneath them.

Malrik snarled, momentarily pulled from his ritual as he fought to throw Kael back. The shadows writhed, but Kael held fast, his claws sinking into Malrik’s arm, binding him with sheer will.

Elias’s voice rang out then, sharp and determined. “Now! I can lock him down!” His small hands spread wide, light bursting from his palms. Chains of golden energy spiraled outward, wrapping around Malrik, weaving between Kael’s grip, locking into the black aura like bolts through iron. “I’ll restrict his power—just long enough!”

The chamber shook with the clash of energies. Black shadows hissed and sizzled against Elias’s golden bindings, each flare a battle of will. Malrik roared in fury, his voice shaking the walls. “You dare bind me, whelp?”

But Elias’s face was pale, sweat dripping down his brow as he held firm. “We’ll never let you take her!” he screamed. “Not while I still breathe!”

Aria stepped forward then, her glow brightening as she pressed her hands to her temples, her power surging outward like a tidal wave. “Sleep,” she whispered, her voice trembling with strain. “Sleep, even if only for a breath…”

Malrik’s head jerked, his eyes flickering. For a heartbeat, his chanting faltered. The shadows around him wavered, their movements sluggish, as though a heavy fog had pressed into his mind.

Lyra seized that moment. Her voice was sharp, cutting through the chaos. “Father! Now! Distract him!”

Enzo’s body flared with sudden energy. His chains groaned under the strain, his claws raked against them, his howl shaking the entire chamber. His blood poured faster, but his focus was locked on Malrik. “You want me, Malrik? LOOK AT ME!” His roar cracked the very air, his eyes burning with unyielding rage.

Malrik’s head snapped toward him instinctively, drawn by the Alpha’s thunderous call. In that split second, the children’s combined powers pressed harder—Elias’s golden chains tightening, Aria’s psychic wave deepening, Kael’s raw force keeping Malrik bound.

Lyra darted forward, her hands glowing faintly as she pressed them to the writhing tendrils that bound Ash and Atlas. “I can undo his knots,” she whispered, her energy weaving like threads through the shadows. Slowly, painfully, the bindings around her kin began to loosen, their strength returning bit by bit.

Ash coughed, his sword-hand trembling as the weapon slid back into his grasp. “Don’t stop, Lyra,” he rasped. “We need you.”

Malrik snarled, thrashing now as the combined force pressed in from all sides. His shadows flared, slamming against the bindings, sending shockwaves through the chamber. The ritual circle flickered, its glow faltering for the first time.

Lisa gasped, her head lolling weakly as she whispered Enzo’s name. He pulled harder, ignoring the pain as his body bled and tore against the chains. His distraction was total, his eyes locked on Malrik, his roar unending.

“Children,” Malrik hissed, his voice guttural, strained with both fury and amusement. “You think you can unmake me? You think you can defy destiny?” His laughter was jagged, broken, but still filled with malice. “I will show you the price of defiance.”

The shadows around him exploded outward in a violent burst, slamming against Kael and the children. Kael staggered but held on, his grip unyielding. Elias screamed as his chains cracked under the surge, blood trickling from his nose. Aria clutched her head, her psychic hold faltering, tears streaking her cheeks.

“Hold him!” Kael thundered, his voice breaking over the chaos. “Do not let go!”

Lyra’s hands glowed brighter, her weaving growing frantic as she pulled at the shadows binding Atlas. At last they snapped, and Atlas surged free, slamming his glowing fists into the ground. The earth itself cracked, rising up in jagged spikes that drove toward Malrik, forcing him back.

Ash staggered upright, his blade igniting in his grip, light searing against the darkness. “He bleeds, he falters,” Ash growled, eyes blazing. “Press him harder!”

Malrik’s scream filled the chamber, a sound of fury and desperation. The ritual circle flickered again, its power unstable under the assault. The chains binding Enzo trembled, cracks spiderwebbing through them as his roar shook the chamber anew.

The battle was far from over, but for the first time, Malrik’s control was slipping.
