The airport was bustling with movement as Emma pulled up in Serena’s car, navigating through the parking area with ease. She glanced at the time on the dashboard, knowing that Serena’s plane had landed a few minutes ago.

Amy, who was seated in the back, was practically bouncing with excitement, her little hands gripping the stuffed bunny Ryan had bought for her.

“Mommy’s coming!” Amy squealed, her eyes shining as she peered through the window, searching for her mother.

Emma smiled, glancing at her through the rearview mirror. “Yes, she is. And I bet she missed you just as much as you missed her.”

Amy pouted slightly. “She was gone for too long.”

Emma reached back, squeezing Amy’s hand reassuringly. “But she’s back now, sweetheart. And I’m sure she brought you lots of surprises.”

Amy’s eyes widened. “Presents?”

Emma chuckled. “Of course.”

As soon as she spotted Serena stepping out of the arrival gate, Emma quickly got out of the car. Serena looked effortlessly elegant despite the long flight—dressed in fitted black pants and a white blouse, her hair falling in soft waves.

The exhaustion was visible in her eyes, but the moment she spotted Amy, her face lit up.

“Mommy!” Amy shrieked, unbuckling her seatbelt and practically launching herself out of the car.

Serena barely had time to brace herself before Amy flung her small arms around her waist, clinging tightly. Serena exhaled, her heart swelling as she crouched down, pressing a firm kiss to Amy’s forehead.

“My baby,” Serena murmured, stroking her daughter’s hair. “I missed you so much.”

Amy buried her face in Serena’s neck. “I missed you more, Mommy! You were gone like forever!”

Serena pulled back slightly, cupping Amy’s tiny face. “I know, sweetheart. But I’m back now. And guess what?”

Amy’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. “What?”

Serena grinned. “I brought you lots of gifts.”

Amy gasped dramatically. “Really?”

“Really,” Serena assured her, standing up as Emma approached.

Emma gave her a knowing smirk. “That was an unnecessarily long trip, but I assume it was worth it?”

Serena sighed, running a hand through her hair. “It was. I got the deal.”

Emma let out a relieved breath. “That’s what I wanted to hear.”

They loaded Serena’s luggage into the trunk, and soon they were driving back home.

The ride was peaceful, with Amy sitting beside her mother in the backseat, holding onto Serena’s hand as if afraid she would disappear again. Serena gently rubbed circles on Amy’s palm, stealing occasional glances at her daughter, feeling a sense of contentment settle over her.

Once they arrived home, Serena exhaled in relief, stepping into the familiar comfort of her space.

Amy immediately ran inside, eager to see what her mother had brought. Serena chuckled, shaking her head as she placed her suitcase on the couch.

Emma flopped onto a chair, kicking off her heels. “Alright, spill. How was it? And more importantly, tell me all about Phillippe Smith.”

Serena raised an eyebrow. “That’s the first thing you want to know?”

Emma smirked. “You know me.”

Serena sighed, sitting down. “It was… interesting. He’s sharp, calculated, and—”

Emma leaned forward. “And insanely handsome?”

Serena rolled her eyes. “I suppose.”

Emma grinned. “I knew it.”

Serena shook her head but continued. “We had dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant, went on a private boat ride on the Seine, toured a vineyard… the whole experience was curated, down to the last detail.”

Emma whistled. “Damn. That’s luxury at its finest.”

Serena smirked. “He wanted me to experience Paris. And I have to admit, I did enjoy it.”

Emma nudged her. “You sure it was just business?”

Serena shot her a look. “Emma.”

Emma laughed. “Fine, fine. But still, it sounds like an amazing trip.”

Serena stood, walking over to her suitcase. “Now, for the fun part.”

Amy rushed over just as Serena started unzipping the bag. “Presents?”

Serena laughed. “Yes, sweetheart. Come here.”

She pulled out the adorable dresses she had bought for Amy, the pink ballet flats, and the stuffed bunny. Amy squealed in delight, hugging the bunny tightly before twirling around in excitement.

“Mommy, these are the best!” Amy exclaimed.

Serena smiled, kissing her daughter’s forehead. “I’m glad you love them.”

She then handed Emma a neatly wrapped box.

Emma raised an eyebrow. “For me?”

Serena smirked. “Obviously.”

Emma opened it, revealing the Hermès silk scarf. Her eyes widened. “Oh my God. Serena, this is beautiful!”

Serena shrugged. “I figured you’d like it.”

Emma threw her arms around Serena. “I love it!”

They spent the next few hours chatting and laughing until the doorbell rang.

Emma stood, stretching. “That must be Ethan.”

Serena smirked. “Your knight in shining armor.”

Emma rolled her eyes but grinned. “Jealous?”

Serena chuckled. “Not in the slightest.”

Emma grabbed her bag, waving as she headed out the door. “See you tomorrow!”

Serena closed the door, turning to Amy. “Alright, young lady. Time for bed.”

Amy pouted. “But I want to stay up with you.”

Serena softened, lifting her into her arms. “I missed you too, baby. But you need your sleep.”

She carried Amy to her bedroom, tucking her under the covers. Amy clutched the stuffed bunny to her chest, her big eyes gazing up at Serena.

“Mommy?”

“Yes, sweetheart?”

“You won’t leave again soon, right?”

Serena’s heart clenched. She smoothed back Amy’s curls. “Not anytime soon, I promise.”

Amy smiled sleepily. “Okay.”

Serena pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Sweet dreams, my love.”

As Amy drifted off, Serena sat beside her for a moment, watching her peaceful expression.

She had missed this.

She had missed home.

Meanwhile, across town, Ryan had just stepped out of the shower, running a towel over his damp hair. He had spent most of the day at the office, drowning in meetings, and all he wanted was a quiet evening.

But then came the knock at the door.

He sighed, already knowing who it was before he even opened it.

Kate.

She stood there in a fitted dress, her hair perfectly styled, a small smile playing on her lips.

Ryan exhaled. “Kate, what are you doing here?”

She stepped inside before he could protest. “I didn’t come to argue,” she said softly. “I just wanted to see you.”

Ryan eyed her suspiciously. “You’re not mad at me for avoiding you?”

Kate shook her head, stepping closer. “No. I just… I miss you, Ryan.”

Ryan hesitated. He knew this was dangerous territory, but Kate had always had a way of pushing past his defenses.

She reached out, placing her hands on his chest. “Can we not fight tonight?” she murmured.

Ryan exhaled slowly. “Kate—”

She leaned up, pressing her lips against his before he could finish his sentence.

He should have stopped her.

He should have pushed her away.

But he didn’t.

As her hands roamed his back, her body pressing against his, Ryan let himself give in.

And before he knew it, they were tangled together on the couch, lost in the moment as they fucked themselves with moans filling the air of the living room.
