Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 290
The hospital room was filled with warmth as Serena took her first sip of the hot soup Mrs. Winthrop had carefully prepared.
The rich aroma filled the air, mixing with the sterile scent of the hospital.
Mrs. Winthrop watched her daughter with soft eyes. “Drink slowly, Serena. It’s still hot.”
Serena nodded, taking another careful sip.
The warmth spread through her, soothing her throat. “It’s really good, Mom. Thank you for making it.”
Mrs. Winthrop smiled, pleased.
“You need something warm in your stomach after what happened. I don’t want you getting sick on top of everything else.”
Amy, now freshly bathed and wearing a new pink dress, sat beside her mother on the hospital bed, her tiny hands fidgeting with Serena’s sleeve.
“Mommy, do you feel all better now?”
Serena turned to her daughter, her eyes softening. “I feel much better, baby.”
Amy beamed, leaning against her mother’s arm.
Mrs. Winthrop scooped another serving of soup into a smaller bowl and handed it to Bianca, who had been quietly observing their interaction.
“You should eat too, Bianca,” Mrs. Winthrop said.
“You must be hungry after staying here with Serena.”
Bianca, surprised, took the bowl and smiled gratefully. “Thank you, Mrs. Winthrop. I really appreciate it.”
Serena raised a brow playfully. “I didn’t know you were starving, Bianca. You could’ve just said something.”
Bianca chuckled. “I didn’t want to complain when you’re the one recovering.”
She took a spoonful of the soup and sighed in satisfaction. “Wow, this is really good. I might start visiting your house just for meals.”
Mrs. Winthrop laughed softly. “You’re always welcome, dear.”
As they ate, the conversation drifted from the soup to what had happened earlier.
“Serena,” Bianca started, setting her bowl down, “have you thought about what really happened? I mean, do you remember anything strange before you fell into the water?”
Serena frowned, her spoon pausing mid-air.
“I’ve been thinking about it, but… everything happened so fast. I remember feeling something—like I was pulled.”
Mrs. Winthrop’s expression darkened. “Pulled?”
Serena nodded. “At first, I thought maybe I lost my balance, but now… I don’t know. It felt strange.”
Bianca leaned forward. “Are you saying someone did this to you?”
Serena sighed, frustration creasing her forehead. “I can’t say for sure. It’s just a feeling.”
Mrs. Winthrop’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Who would want to harm you like that?”
The room fell into silence.
Amy, who had been quiet, suddenly looked up and whispered, “Is Mommy in danger?”
Serena snapped out of her thoughts, immediately shaking her head. “No, baby. Mommy’s okay. It was just an accident.”
Mrs. Winthrop still didn’t look convinced, but she let it go for now.
“Well, whoever leaked this news to the media was clearly trying to stir trouble.”
Bianca nodded. “That’s another thing. I mean, how did it even get out? It’s all over social media now.”
Just then, the hospital door burst open with a loud slam.
All three women jumped in shock, their heads snapping toward the entrance.
Ryan stood there, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling as if he had just run a marathon.
Behind him, Ethan looked equally out of breath, though his eyes were already drifting elsewhere—toward Emma.
Bianca, caught off guard, blinked at Ryan in confusion.
Mrs. Winthrop, on the other hand, stiffened immediately, her eyes narrowing in disapproval.
She remembered him all too well—the man who had cheated on her daughter and destroyed their marriage.
Serena, meanwhile, sat frozen, her eyes locked onto Ryan’s.
Ryan’s gaze swept the room until it landed on Amy. His features softened as he took a step forward.
“Daddy!” Amy squealed in delight, extending her arms.
Ryan rushed forward, scooping her up with an ease that made Serena’s stomach twist uncomfortably.
“You’re okay,” he breathed, pressing a kiss to Amy’s cheek. His hands trembled slightly, his relief evident.
Bianca, still staring at him, finally pieced things together.
Wait… Ryan is Serena’s ex-husband?
Her eyes widened in shock. And she’s been messing around with Nathan?
Before Bianca could say anything, Mrs. Winthrop’s cold voice cut through the air.
“What are you doing here?”
Ryan, still holding Amy, turned toward Serena’s mother. He swallowed hard, sensing her hostility.
“I saw the news,” he said, his voice slightly hoarse.
“I needed to see if Serena was okay.”
Serena rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. “Well, now you see I’m fine. You can leave.”
Ryan’s jaw tensed. “Serena, don’t be like that. I was worried—”
“Worried?” Serena let out a bitter laugh.
“Since when do you worry about me, Ryan? You only ever show up when it’s convenient for you.”
Ryan sighed, his grip on Amy tightening. “That’s not true.”
Serena shook her head.
“It doesn’t matter. From now on, Ryan, only come near me if it concerns Amy. Other than that, I don’t want to see you.”
The room fell into tense silence.
Mrs. Winthrop, her arms crossed, looked at Ryan with clear satisfaction.
Ethan, who had been watching everything in amusement, finally spoke up.
“Well… this is awkward.”
Ryan sighed in frustration, placing Amy gently back onto the bed. “Fine. I’ll leave.”
As he turned, Bianca’s gaze followed him.
Mrs. Winthrop, noticing, snapped her fingers in front of Bianca’s face.
“Bianca, you okay?”
Bianca blinked rapidly, shaking off her thoughts.
“Uh, yeah. Just… thinking.”
Meanwhile, Emma was still staring at Ethan, completely zoned out.
Ethan, catching her gaze, smirked. “You always stare at people like this, or am I just special?”
Emma snapped back to reality, her face turning slightly pink.
Serena, noticing the interaction, raised a brow but said nothing.
Ryan stormed out, Ethan following closely behind.
As they walked toward the car, Ryan gritted his teeth, his hands clenching into fists.
Ethan, however, was still distracted.
“Hey,” Ethan suddenly said, breaking the silence. “That girl—the one staring at me, Who is she?”
Ryan, still fuming, didn’t even glance at him. “That’s Emma, Serena’s assistant. Why?”
Ethan grinned to himself, rubbing his chin. “No reason. Just… interesting.”
Ryan shot him a look, but Ethan only chuckled, murmuring to himself, “Emma? I know where to find her.”
As they got into the car, Ryan sped off into the night, his frustration boiling over.
Back at the hospital, Bianca suddenly stood up, stretching.
“I need to go,” she announced. “I have a shoot in the morning.”
Serena raised a brow. “You’re leaving so soon?”
Bianca forced a casual shrug. “Yeah. Just… need some space.”
She grabbed her bag, her mind still replaying everything.
Serena watched her curiously but didn’t push.
As Bianca left, Mrs. Winthrop sighed, shaking her head.
“What a night,” she muttered.
Serena couldn’t agree more.
