Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 255
“Daddy, hurry up!” Amy squealed, tugging on Ryan’s hand as they walked into the park.
Her little face was beaming with excitement, and Ryan couldn’t help but smile at her energy.
“Alright, alright, slow down, princess,” he chuckled, adjusting the cap on her head to shield her from the sun.
“Where do you want to go first?”
Amy looked around, eyes darting from the swings to the slides, then to the carousel spinning in the distance.
“Um… the swings!” she finally decided, pointing eagerly.
Ryan grinned. “Swings it is!”
They walked over, and Ryan lifted Amy onto one of the swings.
“Hold tight,” he said, gently pushing her back.
Amy giggled as the wind rushed past her face.
“Higher, Daddy! Higher!” she urged.
Ryan pushed a little harder, watching her squeal with joy.
“Not too high, princess. I don’t want you flying off!” he teased.
After a few minutes of swinging, Amy jumped off, landing with a little bounce.
“Let’s go on the slide now!” she declared, grabbing his hand again and dragging him across the playground.
“You’re the boss,” Ryan said with a playful sigh, following her lead.
They spent the next hour running around the park, playing in the jungle gym, going down slides, and even having a little race across the grass.
Amy was laughing the entire time, and Ryan felt a warmth in his chest that he hadn’t felt in a long time.
“Alright,” he panted, wiping sweat from his forehead. “How about an ice cream break?”
Amy’s eyes sparkled. “Yes! Chocolate chip!”
Ryan laughed. “Chocolate chip it is.”
They walked over to the ice cream stand, and Ryan handed the vendor some cash.
“One chocolate chip for the little lady, and a vanilla for me,” he said with a wink.
Amy accepted her cone with both hands and licked it excitedly.
“Mmm! It’s so good!”
Ryan took a bite of his own and nodded. “Not bad at all.”
They sat on a nearby bench, enjoying their treats. Amy’s feet dangled off the edge, and she kept glancing around at the other kids playing.
“Daddy, can we come here every weekend?”
Ryan smiled down at her. “I’ll try my best, princess. I promise.”
Just as Amy was about to say something else, Ryan’s phone buzzed in his pocket.
He ignored it at first, but when it kept ringing, he sighed and pulled it out.
The name flashing on the screen made his jaw tighten—Kate.
He hit a decline.
Amy looked up at him. “Who was it?”
“It’s no one important,” Ryan said quickly, giving her a reassuring smile.
But the phone rang again. And again.
Ryan groaned and got up. “I’ll be right back, sweetheart. Stay right here, okay?”
Amy nodded, too focused on her ice cream to pay much attention.
Ryan walked a few steps away and finally answered the call.
“Kate, what do you want?” he asked in a low, irritated voice.
“Where are you, Ryan?” Kate’s sharp voice came through the line.
“I went to your office, and you weren’t there. I went to your house, and you weren’t there either! Are you avoiding me?”
Ryan clenched his jaw. “I’m in a meeting, Kate. Stop calling me—you’re distracting me.”
Kate huffed. “A meeting? On a weekend?” Her voice dripped with suspicion. “Is that so?”
Ryan sighed. “Yes, Kate. I have to go. Goodbye.”
Before she could argue, he hung up and turned around—only to find the spot where Amy had been sitting completely empty.
His heart stopped. “Amy?” he called, scanning the area.
Panic flooded his chest when she didn’t answer.
He sprinted back to the bench, looking left and right frantically. “Amy!”
He ran to the slide, the swings, the jungle gym—nothing. His hands shook as he raked through his hair.
“Where is she?” he muttered, sweat forming on his forehead.
Realizing he needed help, he grabbed his phone and quickly dialed Jefferson, his assistant.
“Jefferson, I need you at the park now. Amy’s missing!” Ryan’s voice was frantic, his breathing heavy.
“I’m on my way!” Jefferson replied without hesitation.
Ryan paced back and forth, his heart hammering in his chest.
“Damn it,” he whispered. He couldn’t call Serena—not yet. She would kill him if she knew he’d lost their daughter.
Within minutes, Jefferson arrived, his eyes wide with concern. “Sir, have you checked everywhere?”
“Yes, everywhere! She’s gone, Jefferson!” Ryan snapped, frustration and fear clouding his mind.
Jefferson nodded. “We’ll find her. Let’s split up and search again.”
The two of them rushed around the park, asking strangers if they had seen a little girl with pigtails and a pink dress, but no one had.
Ryan felt sick to his stomach. He had no choice now. He pulled out his phone and dialed Serena’s number.
“Ryan,” Serena’s voice came through, irritated. “Where are you? You should’ve been back by now! Bring my daughter home!”
Ryan took a deep breath. “Serena… I—uh… I can’t find Amy.”
There was a long pause, and then Serena screamed, “What do you mean you can’t find her?!”
“I’m sorry, okay? She was right here, and I just—”
“WHERE ARE YOU?!” she yelled, and Ryan quickly gave her the park’s location.
The call ended abruptly, and Ryan knew she was on her way. He swallowed hard, guilt washing over him.
Minutes later, Serena’s car screeched into the parking lot, and she jumped out, her face pale and panicked.
“Where is she?!” she demanded, grabbing Ryan by the shirt.
“How could you lose her?! I trusted you for one day!”
Ryan swallowed. “I-I don’t know. One second she was eating ice cream, and the next she was gone!”
Serena’s eyes filled with tears. “If anything happens to my baby, Ryan, I swear—”
Before she could finish, her phone rang. She quickly answered, her hands shaking.
“Hello?”
A deep, cold voice came through the line. “Your child is safe. I found her wandering around alone, so I took her with me.”
Serena gasped, her heart pounding. “Where is she? Who are you?”
“I’ll send you the address. You should come quickly,” the voice replied before hanging up.
A message popped up on her phone, and Serena wasted no time. She sprinted to her car.
“I’m going to get her!” she shouted to Ryan before driving off, leaving him standing there, helpless.
When Serena arrived at the location, a tall man in a dark suit was waiting with Amy, holding her hand gently.
“Mommy!” Amy cried, running into Serena’s arms.
Tears streamed down Serena’s face as she hugged Amy tightly.
“Oh, baby, I was so scared!”
“She’s alright,” the man said smoothly. “I found her near the road. Good thing I got to her before someone else did.”
Serena wiped her tears. “Thank you, thank you so much!”
The man smiled faintly. “Just be careful who you trust with your daughter,” he said pointedly.
Serena frowned. “What do you mean?”
The man shrugged.
“I saw the man who was with her… seemed distracted. Talking to a woman on the phone.”
Serena’s expression hardened. “I see. Thank you again.”
She left without calling Ryan, her mind swirling with doubts and anger.
Meanwhile, the man pulled out his phone and made a call.
“The job is done,” he said in a low voice. “I’m sure this will split them apart for a while.”
