Enzo's POV

The study was quiet except for the steady scratching of my pen across the maps spread open on the desk. Thick black ink marked circles and arrows over the territories surrounding the pack grounds. Weak points. Areas that had to be sealed off, tightened, reinforced before someone clever enough decided to slip through. My head was heavy with calculation as I leaned back, closing my eyes briefly and sending a sharp thought through the mindlink.

*Ash, the northern barricade needs men doubling shifts. Kael, check the perimeter at the southern ridge, no more excuses. I don’t want a single damn fraction out of place when I’m done with this review.*

Two sharp affirmatives echoed back in my head. The reassurance should have been enough, but paranoia had been digging at me since the last report. Something was off, and my gut didn’t let things slide.

I reached for the map again, red pen uncapped in my hand, when the knock came.

I didn’t even look up. “Come in,” I said, assuming it was one of the servants bringing the tea I had requested earlier. My throat was parched, craving the bitterness of black leaves to keep my head clear.

The door opened softly, no clinking of tray or china followed. The silence that pressed against my back was too careful. I glanced up.

It wasn’t a servant.

Lisa stepped into the room, closing the door quietly behind her. The soft light from the desk lamp caught the curve of her cheek, the shine of her hair falling loose against her shoulders. She looked out of place here, in a room littered with maps and weapons charts, but she didn’t hesitate. She walked in as though she belonged, as though she owned the air I breathed.

For a second, I held the mindlink steady, waiting for Ash and Kael to report back, but I felt the weight of her eyes on me, steady and unflinching. I sighed and disconnected the link. *We’ll continue later. Something just came up.*

Ash pushed a questioning thought, Kael too, but I shut them both out. Whatever this was, it demanded me more.

Lisa moved closer without a word. I stayed seated, watching her every step. She stopped in front of me, then leaned down, sliding her arms around my neck. Her scent was soft, distracting, hitting me harder than the black tea ever could. I felt the warmth of her pressed against me, her cheek brushing mine for a moment before she pulled back just enough to look at me.

“What’s bothering you?” I asked, my voice rougher than I intended.

“Nothing,” she whispered. Her lips curved faintly, but her eyes betrayed the truth. There was something heavy behind them, something she wasn’t ready to speak aloud. “I just… I miss you, Enzo.”

The words hit deep. Her body pressed closer, and she nuzzled into me like she couldn’t get enough of the space I occupied. The warmth of her breath grazed my skin, and then her lips touched mine—soft, slow, deliberate.

I let the pen drop from my fingers, forgotten against the papers. My hand slid up her back, pressing her closer, answering her kiss with one that was deeper, firmer. She tasted like need, like something raw and unspoken that had been building between us, breaking free now.

Her lips parted under mine, and I seized the opening, sliding my tongue against hers. She kissed me like she was starved, like every second away from me had been too long. My hand gripped her waist, pulling her onto my lap. She straddled me, her skirt riding up as her thighs pressed against me.

“You’re trouble,” I murmured against her lips, but I didn’t stop.

Her laugh was breathless, muffled by the way I claimed her mouth again. My hands explored her slowly at first, tracing the line of her spine, teasing the dip of her waist. She shivered when my fingers skimmed lower, over the curve of her hips.

“Enzo…” she breathed, the sound shaky, her lips brushing mine with every syllable.

Her kiss grew needier, almost desperate, and I let her take, let her set the pace until I couldn’t hold back anymore. I shifted her, sliding her onto the edge of the desk. Papers crumpled under her, but I didn’t care. My focus was all on her, on the way she gasped when I pressed against her thighs, spreading them slowly.

Her hands tangled in my hair, tugging me closer as I trailed kisses down her jaw, to her neck. She tilted her head, offering me more, her breath catching when I nipped lightly at her skin.

I teased her, letting my mouth linger just below her ear, feeling her pulse race against my lips. My fingers traced the hem of her blouse, pushing it up inch by inch, exposing soft skin that begged to be touched. She arched into me when I slid my hand underneath, my palm flat against the warmth of her stomach.

“You’re shaking,” I whispered against her skin, my voice low, teasing.

“I can’t help it,” she whispered back, her words broken by the sharp inhale she took when my hand moved higher, cupping her breast through the thin lace of her bra.

Her back arched, pressing herself into my touch. I smiled against her neck, loving the way she gave herself over so easily. She gasped again when I rolled her nipple between my fingers, teasing slowly before giving her exactly what she craved.

“Enzo, please…” she murmured, her voice trembling.

I lifted my head, kissed her lips again—soft, slow, before deepening it until she was gasping into my mouth. Then I pulled back, meeting her eyes. “You don’t get to beg until I say,” I told her, a dark edge to my voice.

Her lips parted, her chest rising and falling rapidly, but she nodded. Her submission sent a surge of heat through me.

I pushed her blouse higher, pulling it over her head. She let it fall carelessly to the floor. My gaze roamed over her, and I took my time, making her squirm under the intensity of it.

“You’re beautiful,” I muttered, almost to myself.

Her fingers tugged at my shirt, eager, desperate, but I caught her wrists and pinned them to the table. Her eyes widened, heat sparking there as I held her down.

“Not yet,” I said, my lips brushing hers.

I kissed her again, slower this time, teasing her with the deliberate drag of my mouth. She writhed under me, frustrated and hungry, and I reveled in it. My free hand trailed down her stomach, teasing over her skirt until I reached the hem and slid it up.

Her thighs spread instinctively, and I pressed my palm against her heat through the thin fabric of her panties. She gasped, her body jolting at the contact.

“Enzo—”

I cut her off with another kiss, pressing harder, teasing her until she was trembling against my hand. She broke the kiss, throwing her head back, a soft moan spilling from her lips. The sound tore at my restraint, made me want to throw all control away and take her hard right then.

But I didn’t. Not yet.

I slipped my fingers beneath the fabric, sliding over her slick heat. She was already wet for me, aching, ready. I teased her slowly, circling, dipping just enough to make her cry out, but pulling back before giving her what she wanted.

Her eyes locked on mine, wild, pleading. “Enzo, please. Stop teasing.”

I smirked. “But you look so good like this. Desperate. Hungry. Mine.”

She shuddered, her lips trembling, but she nodded, accepting it, and it broke something in me.

I slid two fingers inside her, and her cry echoed against the walls of the study. She clutched at the desk, gasping, moaning as I moved inside her, slow and steady. I kissed her, swallowing every sound, every desperate plea as my pace built.

When she was on the edge, trembling, I pulled away. She gasped, glaring at me through heavy lids, but I only smirked.

I unbuttoned my shirt, shrugging it off, her eyes drinking in every inch of skin revealed. She reached for me again, but I caught her wrists, pinning them down as I pressed her back onto the desk.

“You wanted me,” I growled, my voice low and rough. “Now you’ll have me.”

Her breath hitched when I freed myself, pressing against her, teasing her entrance. She was trembling, her nails scratching lightly at the wood beneath her, her lips parted in anticipation.

I thrust into her slowly, deeply, and her cry filled the room. I groaned, the heat of her clenching around me pulling me deeper into madness.

“Enzo—”

I kissed her, swallowing the sound, before pulling back and thrusting again, harder this time. The desk shook under us, papers scattering to the floor, forgotten.

Her legs wrapped around me, pulling me deeper, her nails digging into my back as I moved inside her, slow at first, savoring every inch, before the pace shifted, rougher, harder.

She gasped my name again and again, her voice breaking as I pounded into her, losing control, giving in to the need that burned through me. The desk creaked, threatening to give way, but I didn’t stop.

She clung to me, her body arching, trembling, her cries echoing louder as the rhythm consumed us both.

“Mine,” I growled into her ear, each thrust punctuating the word. “Only mine.”

Her release tore through her, her scream muffled against my shoulder as she convulsed around me, pulling me over the edge with her.

I drove into her one last time, spilling into her, groaning her name like a prayer.

The room was silent after, save for the sound of our ragged breaths, the crumpled papers scattered around us. She lay beneath me on the desk, flushed and trembling, her hair wild, lips swollen from my kisses.

I leaned down, kissed her softly this time, lingering against her mouth.

“Don’t ever doubt it,” I whispered against her lips. “You’re mine.”
