Kate sat on the floor of Rolly’s living room, her hair disheveled, eyes wild with frustration. The walls seemed to close in on her, suffocating her as her thoughts spiraled deeper into madness.

The only sound in the dimly lit apartment was the low hum of the television, where a news report was still playing clips of the scandal that had ruined her life.

The footage of her and Thomas—no, Philip—played over and over again, reminding the world of her shame.

She clutched her phone tightly, her nails digging into the glass screen as she dialed Ryan’s number again. One ring. Two rings. Straight to voicemail.

Kate let out a ragged breath, her pulse hammering in her ears. She had called him more than a hundred times. Had sent him texts, voice messages—begged him to at least talk to her. But there was nothing.

He had cut her off. Completely.

A scream of rage ripped from her throat as she threw the phone across the room. It hit the wall with a loud crack, pieces scattering onto the floor.

“Kate!” Rolly gasped, jumping back from where she had been sitting on the couch. “What the hell is wrong with you?”

Kate shot her a venomous glare, her chest heaving. “He’s ignoring me, Rolly! He won’t answer! He won’t even acknowledge that I exist!”

Rolly exhaled slowly, trying to remain calm, but even she was starting to get unnerved.

Kate had been like this for days. Ever since the sex tape leaked, she had barely slept, barely eaten, and every time she wasn’t crying, she was screaming at the walls.

“This isn’t healthy,” Rolly muttered, running a hand through her hair. “You’re acting insane. You need to pull yourself together—”

Kate let out a deranged laugh. “Pull myself together? My life is over! Do you know what they’re saying about me? I can’t even go outside without being attacked by reporters! The whole world saw me with him! I have nothing left!”

Rolly bit her lip, watching her friend with growing concern. Kate was slipping. If she didn’t do something soon, Kate would completely lose it.

She hesitated for a moment before finally pulling out her phone and searching for Ryan’s number. He hadn’t responded to Kate’s calls, but maybe he’d answer hers.

She tapped the screen, pressing the phone to her ear. One ring. Two rings. Three—

“What?” Ryan’s sharp voice cut through the silence.

Rolly flinched at his tone, but she forced herself to stay calm. “Ryan, I—”

“If this is about Kate, I don’t want to hear it,” Ryan interrupted coldly.

Rolly exhaled. “Listen, I get it. You’re mad, but I don’t know what to do anymore. Kate’s losing her mind, Ryan. She’s not eating, not sleeping. She smashed her phone against the wall just now.”

Ryan was silent for a moment. Then, he let out a slow, frustrated sigh.

“I’ll be there,” he muttered before hanging up.

Rolly lowered her phone, releasing a breath of relief. She turned to Kate, who was now staring blankly at the shattered pieces of her phone.

“Ryan’s coming,” Rolly said carefully.

Kate’s head snapped up, her eyes wild with desperation.

“He is?” she whispered, her voice trembling.

Rolly nodded. “Yeah. So… just sit down and try to breathe.”

Kate didn’t respond. She just stared at the door, waiting.

Minutes later, the sound of a car pulling up outside had Kate jumping to her feet.

The door swung open, and Ryan stepped inside.

His presence immediately shifted the atmosphere. His expression was unreadable, but his stance was firm—he wasn’t here for comfort.

Kate’s lips trembled as she rushed toward him. “Ryan!” She threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his waist. “Oh, my God, I’ve missed you! I thought you’d never come—”

Ryan didn’t move.

His entire body was stiff, and when he spoke, his voice was cold. “Let go, Kate.”

Her grip faltered, but she clung tighter. “Ryan, please, just listen to me. You can’t let her win. Serena—she’s trying to turn you against me! She’s manipulating—”

Ryan shoved her off him.

Kate stumbled backward, her eyes wide with shock.

Ryan’s gaze darkened. “This isn’t about Serena,” he snapped. “This is about you. About the mess you created.”

Kate shook her head violently. “It wasn’t my fault! I didn’t know—”

“Shut up, Kate!” Ryan’s voice boomed.

She flinched, stunned into silence.

Ryan took a slow step forward, his hands curling into fists. “Philip has been arrested. He’s making his confession to the police right now. Do you know what that means?”

Kate’s body went rigid.

Ryan’s voice dropped to a deadly whisper. “It means your name is about to come up.”

Kate swallowed hard, her heartbeat pounding. “Ryan… I—”

“If he confesses that you were part of what happened to Serena and Amy,” Ryan continued coldly, “they’re going to come for you next.”

Tears welled in Kate’s eyes. “No,” she whimpered. “No, you won’t let that happen, right? Ryan, you love me, don’t you? You can’t let them—”

“I don’t love you,” Ryan said flatly.

Kate’s entire world stopped.

Her lips trembled as she stared up at him, her last hope crumbling.

“You don’t mean that,” she whispered. “You’re just angry. But I love you, Ryan! I’ve always—”

Ryan’s expression remained unmoved. “Save it,” he muttered. “I’m sending you away.”

Kate froze.

Her chest tightened. “What…?”

“You can either leave now, or you can stay and get arrested,” Ryan said sharply. “It’s your choice.”

Kate shook her head wildly. “No! I won’t leave you! I won’t let Serena win—”

“This has nothing to do with Serena,” Ryan snapped. “This is about me not wanting to see you ever again.”

Kate let out a scream of frustration.

She thrashed wildly, knocking over a lamp, sending glass shards flying. “You’re throwing me away like garbage? After everything I’ve done for you?”

Ryan didn’t react. “You’ll be gone by tonight.”

Kate fell to her knees, sobbing. “Ryan, please…”
