Nathan leaned back in his chair, a bright smile on his face as he looked at Serena.

“I still can’t believe I’m sitting here with you, Serena. Seeing you again… it feels unreal. It’s… been such a while”

Serena smiled politely, adjusting a few files on her desk.

“Yes, It’s been a long time, Nathan. I didn’t expect to see you here either. After all these years…”

Nathan chuckled softly.

“Yeah, I guess life has a funny way of surprising us.” He paused, his eyes studying her closely.

“You look… amazing, Serena. Just like you did back in school. You look even more beautiful and sexy now.”

Serena gave a small laugh. “Come on, Nathan. We’re not kids anymore. Just stop flattering me.”

“Maybe, but some things never change and I’m also not flattering you.” Nathan’s gaze softened. “You know, I had the biggest crush on you back then.”

Serena sighed, shaking her head. “Nathan, we were just kids. And you know how I was back then… I only had eyes for Ryan.”

Nathan’s smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly masked it. “Yeah, I remember. You were crazy about him.” He shrugged. “Too bad he didn’t see what he had.”

Serena looked away, feeling an old sting in her chest. “That’s all in the past now, Nathan.”

Nathan nodded. “Yeah, but what about now? Are you… married?” His voice was hesitant, almost hopeful.

Serena looked at him for a moment before shaking her head.

“No, I’m not married.” She reached for a framed picture on her desk and handed it to him. “But I have a daughter. This is Amy.”

Nathan took the picture and examined it closely.

A smile spread across his face. “Wow… she’s beautiful, Serena. Looks just like you— an epitome of beauty.”

Serena smiled proudly. “She’s my everything.”

Nathan held on to the photo, not ready to put it down.

“You’re an amazing mom. I can tell.” He leaned forward a bit.

“Listen, I know you’re busy, but maybe we could catch up sometime? If you don’t mind.”

Serena opened her mouth to respond, but before she could say anything, the office door burst open.

Ryan stormed in, his face filled with rage, and Emma trailed behind him, flustered and out of breath.

“Sir, you can’t just—”

“I need to talk to her,” Ryan said sharply, brushing past Emma.

Serena stood up, frowning.

“Ryan! What the hell are you doing barging into my office like this?”

Ryan’s eyes darted from Serena to Nathan, his jaw clenching tightly.

“If you had answered my calls, I wouldn’t have to.” His gaze landed on the framed picture of Amy in Nathan’s hand, and his blood boiled even more.

“What the hell is he doing here?”

Nathan smirked, clearly enjoying the tension.

“Relax, Ryan. We were just catching up. Do you expect anything else?” He asked tauntingly.

Serena folded her arms, meeting Ryan’s furious gaze. “It’s none of your business.”

Ryan’s eyes darkened. “None of my business? You think I’m going to sit back while you’re here cozying up with him?”

Serena’s lips curled into a smirk.

“Well, since you’re so interested… Nathan just asked me to hang out sometime.” She turned to Nathan. “And you know what? I’d love to.”

Ryan’s fists clenched at his sides, his jaw tightening so much it looked like it might snap. He glared at Nathan, who simply grinned and placed Amy’s picture back on the desk.

“I’ll see you soon, Serena,” Nathan said, standing up and walking toward the door. He cast a glance at Ryan, who was staring daggers at him. “Take care, Ryan.”

Ryan didn’t respond, his eyes following Nathan until he was out of the office.

Once the door shut, Ryan turned back to Serena, his anger boiling over. “What the hell are you doing with him? And why was he holding Amy’s picture?”

Serena lifted her chin defiantly.

“Like I said, it’s none of your business, Ryan. You don’t get to barge in here and start questioning me.”

Ryan took a deep breath, trying to control his frustration.

“Serena, stop playing games. I want to know the truth. Is Amy… is she mine?”

Serena’s heart pounded, but she kept her expression cold. “Ryan, leave.”

“No,” Ryan snapped. “I’m not leaving until you tell me the truth.”

Serena sighed, rubbing her temples.

“Why do you suddenly care, Ryan? Where was this concern years ago when you left me? When you divorced me to be with Kate?” Her voice rose in anger.

Ryan flinched, the words hitting him harder than he expected. “Serena… just answer me. Don’t deviate from my question!”

Serena’s eyes burned with emotion as she slammed her hands on the desk.

“Yes, Ryan! Yes, she’s your daughter!” Her voice cracked. “Are you happy now?”

Ryan’s eyes widened, his breath hitching. “She’s… really mine?”

Serena crossed her arms tightly over her chest, blinking back tears.

“Yes. But don’t act like you care now. You walked away, Ryan. You chose Kate.”

Ryan stood frozen, guilt washing over him like a wave.

He had spent years thinking Serena had moved on, never imagining the truth she had hidden from him.

He swallowed hard. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Serena scoffed. “Would it have made any difference? You were too busy playing house with Kate. You were too busy with your mistress.”

Ryan looked down, guilt sinking deep into his chest. “I made mistakes, Serena. But you should have told me.”

Serena’s voice softened, but there was still an edge to it.

“And what would you have done, Ryan? What difference would it make? Nothing! Just like you did when you walked away from me.”

Ryan sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I… I don’t know what to say.”

Serena turned away from him. “Then don’t say anything. Just leave, Ryan.”

But he didn’t move. Instead, he stared at the picture of Amy on her desk, his heart aching.

“I was just blinded by lust! I was blinded, Serena and I regret it so much. I need to know Amy. She has to know I’m her daddy.”

Serena shook her head. “It’s too late, Ryan.”

Ryan’s face hardened. “I’m not going anywhere until we talk about this.”

Serena sat down, suddenly feeling exhausted. “Fine. But it doesn’t change anything.”

Ryan sat across from her, his eyes pleading. “Just let me be in her life.”
