Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 296
A full week had passed since the chaos of the past events.
Serena was finally returning to work.
Her mother, Mrs. Winthrop had stayed by her side through everything, refusing to leave until she was sure Serena was completely fine.
But today, she was heading back home.
Serena had personally booked her flight and made sure everything was set for her departure.
That morning, after Amy had left for school, Serena and her mother drove to the airport together.
The car ride was mostly quiet, filled with an unspoken heaviness.
Mrs. Winthrop was the first to break the silence. “Are you sure you’re okay now, sweetheart?”
Serena smiled softly, keeping her eyes on the road.
“Mom, I promise I’m fine. You’ve done more than enough for me. I don’t know what I would have done without you. You made everything so special for me these past few days and I’m really grateful.”
Her mother let out a dramatic sigh. “I’m your mother. It’s my job to worry about you and also make sure you are alright, Serena. You don’t have to be so formal with me.”
Serena chuckled, shaking her head. “I know. And I love you for it. You are the best mother ever and in my next life, I would still want you as my mother.”
Mrs Winthrop grinned at Serena’s sweet words.
As they reached the airport, Serena parked the car and helped her mother with her luggage.
Standing at the entrance, Mrs. Winthrop turned to face her daughter, her eyes filled with emotion.
“You take care of yourself, okay?” she said, reaching out to hold Serena’s hands.
“I will, Mom.”
“And don’t overwork yourself. If you feel tired, rest. And if anything happens, you call me immediately.”
“Yes, Mom,” Serena said, smiling.
Her mother sighed, then pulled her into a warm hug.
Serena clung to her, suddenly feeling the weight of her absence before she had even left.
“I’ll miss you,” Serena murmured.
Mrs. Winthrop kissed the top of her daughter’s head. “I’ll miss you more, sweetheart.”
When they finally pulled apart, Mrs. Winthrop wiped a tear from Serena’s cheek and gave her a reassuring smile.
“Call me when you land,” Serena reminded her.
“I will,” her mother promised.
With that, she grabbed her suitcase and walked into the airport.
Serena stood there for a long moment, watching her mother disappear through the entrance.
The moment she was out of sight, Serena sighed deeply, feeling an unexpected wave of loneliness wash over her.
But she shook it off.
She had work to do.
Getting into her car, she started the engine and drove toward Rocky’s Design.
As Serena arrived at the company, she stepped out of her car and walked into the building, completely unaware of what was waiting for her inside.
The moment she stepped into the lobby—
“SURPRISE!”
Serena stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening in shock.
The entire lobby was decorated beautifully, with banners, flowers, and balloons.
All of her employees stood there, smiling brightly, clapping their hands.
Serena blinked in disbelief. “W-What is all this?”
Emma was the first to walk up to her, holding a bouquet of fresh flowers. She smiled as she handed them to Serena.
“Welcome back, boss.”
Serena felt her heart swell with emotion as she accepted the flowers.
One by one, her employees stepped forward, each handing her a flower of their own.
“Thank God you’re okay, Ms. Winthrop!”
“We were so worried about you!”
“It’s so good to have you back!”
Serena could hardly process what was happening.
It wasn’t just a simple welcome back—they were also celebrating the fact that she had survived.
And then—
She saw Bianca Taylor standing at the front, smiling.
Bianca.
Serena had not been expecting her to be here.
As if reading her mind, Emma leaned in slightly and whispered, “Bianca planned all of this.”
Serena’s eyes widened slightly as she looked at Bianca in surprise.
Bianca stepped forward, holding a small elegantly wrapped gift in her hands.
She smiled warmly as she handed it to Serena.
“I’m really glad you’re okay, Serena.”
Serena took the gift, still in shock. “You… you planned all of this?”
Bianca shrugged casually.
“Of course. You’ve been through a lot. I just thought you deserved a little something to lift your spirits.”
Serena didn’t know what to say.
For a moment, she simply stared at Bianca, trying to figure her out.
Then, Bianca suddenly pulled her into a brief hug.
Serena hesitated for a second before returning it.
When they pulled apart, Serena looked around at the bright, smiling faces of her employees.
She cleared her throat, feeling an unexpected tightness in her chest.
“You guys are amazing,” she finally said.
“I don’t even know what to say. This means so much to me. Thank you all for thinking of me.”
The employees cheered, clapping and smiling.
And for the first time in a while, Serena felt a genuine warmth inside her chest.
After the little celebration, Serena headed to her office, accompanied by Emma and Bianca.
As she settled behind her desk, she let out a deep sigh.
Emma sat across from her, smiling.
“So… did you like the surprise?”
Serena shook her head in amusement. “You guys are unbelievable. But yes, I loved it. Thank you, Emma.”
Emma grinned. “Well, you deserve it.”
Serena leaned forward, clasping her hands together.
“And thank you for holding things down while I was away. I know it wasn’t easy, but you did an amazing job.”
Emma flushed slightly, shaking her head. “I just did what I had to do.”
Serena smiled. “Well, I appreciate it. And as a token of my appreciation, I’m giving you a bonus in your next paycheck.”
Emma’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait, what?!”
“You heard me,” Serena said, smirking.
Emma gasped, covering her mouth with her hands.
“Oh my God, thank you so much, Ms. Winthrop!”
“You deserve it,” Serena said warmly.
After their conversation, Emma went on to update Serena about the new clients they had gained during her absence, as well as a few important projects coming up.
Serena listened intently, taking note of everything.
Once they had covered all the details, Emma finally stood up.
“Alright, I’ll let you get back to work.”
She turned to Bianca. “I’ll leave you two to catch up.”
With that, Emma exited the office, leaving Serena and Bianca alone.
Bianca leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs elegantly.
“Ugh,” she sighed dramatically. “You have no idea how lonely I’ve been. I’ve been dying of boredom.”
Serena chuckled.
“Oh, please. You’re always traveling for your modeling gigs. Don’t tell me you’ve been sitting at home doing nothing.”
Bianca pouted.
“Well, okay, maybe not nothing. But still, it’s not the same without you around.”
Serena smirked. “Wow. I feel so honored.”
Bianca grinned, then let out another exaggerated sigh.
“I seriously need to go shopping. I have, like, nothing to wear.”
Serena raised an eyebrow. “Says the woman who probably has an entire mall’s worth of clothes in her closet.”
Bianca gasped dramatically, placing a hand over her chest. “I am offended. Clothes go out of style, Serena. I need to keep up.”
Serena rolled her eyes. “Right. Of course.”
Bianca laughed, then stood up, stretching.
“Anyway, I should probably get going. I need to grab a few things from the mall before it gets too crowded.”
Serena nodded and stood as well. “Alright. I’ll see you later, then.”
She walked Bianca to the elevator, where they exchanged a brief hug before Bianca stepped inside.
As the elevator doors closed, Serena let out a deep breath and turned back toward her office.
It had been a long morning.
But for the first time in a while…
She felt like things were finally falling back into place.
