Kate stepped into her car, her fingers gripping the steering wheel tightly as she navigated through the bustling streets.

A sly smile played on her lips as she replayed the events of her meeting with Steve Jacob in her mind.

The plan had gone perfectly, just as she had expected.

She reached for her phone, tapping the screen to glance at the recording she had captured.

Every word, every tone, every pause—it was all there, crystal clear.

Steve had no idea that his voice would soon be all over the media, twisted into something he never actually said.

By the time she pulled up in front of Rolly’s apartment complex, the excitement bubbling inside her was nearly impossible to contain.

She stepped out of the car with confidence, striding towards the entrance.

As soon as she rang the doorbell, the door swung open almost instantly.

“There she is,” Rolly greeted, a grin spreading across her face. “Right on time. I was almost going crazy by merely waiting for your arrival.”

“Sorry darling. I’m here now.” Kate said with a smirk, stepping inside and taking off her sunglasses.

The living room was dimly lit, the only source of light coming from the computer screen in the corner where a man was already seated, his fingers poised over the keyboard.

He looked up as Kate entered, standing up to acknowledge her.

“Kate, meet Mason,” Rolly introduced, motioning toward the man.

Mason gave Kate a nod. “Pleasure to meet you, Mason.”

Kate barely spared him a glance as she strode toward the couch, setting her purse down.

“Let’s get to work, immediately. We don’t have much time. I want this done before it’s too late”

Rolly shut the door behind her, turning to Kate with an eager expression. “So? How did it go? Were you able to get it?”

Kate smirked, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

“Like a dream. Don’t you trust me? He literally didn’t suspect a thing. He practically handed me exactly what we needed without even realizing it. I never knew he was so easy to be fooled with how he looked.”

Rolly burst into laughter, clapping her hands. “I swear, you should win an Oscar for this. Best Actress of the Century! You are just too good, Kate. I wish I’m a good actress like you, I would certainly be in Hollywood.”

Kate chuckled, sinking into the couch.

“It was almost too easy. Men like him… they always think they’re in control. They never realize when they’re being played. He is just a fool…”

Rolly’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “I knew you’d pull it off.”

She turned toward Mason. “Alright, let’s not waste time. We need this done immediately.”

Kate reached into her handbag and pulled out her phone, unlocking it before tapping on the recording.

The sound of Steve’s deep, confident voice filled the room as the conversation replayed.

Mason listened intently, nodding as he adjusted the settings on his laptop. “It’s good quality. This will be easy.”

Kate smirked, handing her phone over. “Make it perfect. I want my voice gone. Completely. And you know the other thing to do.”

Mason cracked his knuckles. “I do. Just Consider it done.”

As Mason got to work, Rolly grabbed Kate’s hand, pulling her toward the balcony.

“Let’s give him some space,” she said. “I got us some wine. We might as well enjoy ourselves while we wait.”

Kate followed her outside, leaning against the railing as she took in the city skyline.

Rolly popped open a bottle of wine, pouring them both a glass before settling into one of the lounge chairs.

Kate took a sip, savoring the rich taste.

“So, when is your boyfriend finally coming to Arizona? You said he’d be here weeks ago.”

Rolly let out a dreamy sigh. “We talked this morning. He’s catching the first flight from Paris next week.”

Kate raised an eyebrow. “A whole week? What’s he doing that’s so important?”

Rolly shrugged. “Business, of course. But he promised that this time, he’s coming for sure.”

Kate smirked. “You better hope he does. You’ve been planning this visit for months.”

“Oh, he will,” Rolly said confidently, swirling her wine in her glass.

“And when he does, we’re going all out. Spa days, private dinners, shopping sprees… The whole package.”

Kate chuckled. “That sounds like a dream.”

“It will be,” Rolly said, raising her glass. “And you, my dear, will be right beside me for all of it.”

Kate clinked her glass against Rolly’s, laughing. “That’s exactly what I like to hear.”

They continued chatting, their laughter echoing through the balcony, until a voice interrupted them from inside.

“Ladies,” Mason called. “It’s done.”

Kate and Rolly exchanged excited looks before rushing back inside.

Mason was leaning back in his chair, arms crossed, a satisfied smirk on his face.

Kate grabbed her phone from his outstretched hand. “Let’s hear it.”

Mason pressed play.

Steve’s voice came through, clear and unaltered.

“…She isn’t just a friend. She’s my mistress.”

Kate listened intently, her eyes narrowing with satisfaction as she realized Mason had done exactly what she wanted.

Every trace of her own voice had been removed, leaving only Steve’s words and they were equally changed to the opposite.

“I don’t like seeing my woman suffer.”

Kate immediately pulled out a stack of cash from her purse, handing it over. “Consider this a bonus.”

With a single tap, she sent the altered recording.

She watched as the message was delivered. Then she grinned at Rolly.

Rolly clapped her hands together. “And now, we wait for the fireworks.”

Kate smirked. “Steve Jacob has no idea what’s coming for him.”

They burst into laughter, toasting their glasses once again, completely unaware of the storm they had just unleashed.
