Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 264
Kate was lounging on the couch in her silk nightwear, enjoying a glass of wine, when the sharp knock at her door startled her.
She frowned, placing the glass down, and walked toward the door.
Peeking through the peephole, her eyes widened in surprise. Ryan? At this hour?
Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and saw him standing there, his jaw clenched tightly, eyes burning with anger.
“Ryan?” she said, feigning surprise. “What are you doing here so late?”
Ryan stepped inside without waiting for an invitation, his eyes scanning the living room before turning back to her.
“What were you thinking, Kate?” he snapped, his voice cold. “You went to Serena’s house?!”
Kate blinked in confusion, clutching the hem of her robe.
“What are you talking about?” she asked innocently, trying to play dumb. “I didn’t—”
Ryan cut her off, his voice rising.
“Don’t lie to me, Kate! I know you went there and confronted her! What gives you the right to do that?”
Kate’s heart pounded in her chest, but she quickly composed herself, letting out a shaky breath.
“Ryan… I didn’t go there to fight with her,” she said softly, tears welling up in her eyes.
“I just— I just wanted to talk to her. To make her understand that I love you.”
Ryan ran a frustrated hand through his hair. “And you thought confronting her late at night was the way to do it?”
Kate’s lips trembled. “I didn’t mean any harm, Ryan. But why are you so quick to believe Serena over me?” Her voice cracked as tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Why do you always take her side? Am I not important to you anymore?”
Ryan hesitated, guilt flickering in his eyes.
“Kate, it’s not about taking sides… It’s about boundaries. You had no right to go to her house.”
Kate sniffled and wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
“I kept quiet for too long, Ryan. And look what happened. She’s poisoning your mind against me.” She took a deep breath, lowering her gaze. “Do you even know what she did to me?”
Ryan stared at her, his brow furrowing. “What are you talking about?”
Kate took a shaky breath and sat on the couch, staring at the floor.
“Serena… She had me kidnapped years ago, Ryan. She threatened me and forced me to leave you.”
Ryan’s eyes widened in shock. “What?” he said, his voice barely a whisper.
Kate nodded, fresh tears falling down her cheeks. “I never wanted to leave you, Ryan. But she gave me no choice. I was scared for my life.”
Ryan shook his head in disbelief. “Kate, that doesn’t make any sense. Why would she do that?”
Kate pulled out her phone, trembling hands searching for a hidden folder.
“I didn’t want to tell you because I knew you’d never believe me. But I have proof.” She handed him her phone, showing blurry images of a black car following her and messages from an unknown number threatening her to leave town.
Ryan scrolled through the messages, his face darkening with every word. “This… this can’t be real,” he muttered.
“It is,” Kate whispered, wiping away a tear. “I kept quiet all these years because I thought it didn’t matter anymore. But seeing how she’s trying to ruin us again, I couldn’t hold back any longer.”
Ryan sat down beside her, rubbing his temple. “I don’t know what to think anymore…”
Kate gently touched his arm. “All I’ve ever wanted was to be with you, Ryan. And now that I’m finally back, she’s trying to take you away from me again.”
Ryan sighed heavily, his anger fading into exhaustion. “I don’t know, Kate. I just don’t know.”
Kate leaned against him, sniffling. “Please, Ryan. I love you. Don’t let her come between us again.”
Ryan hesitated for a long moment before letting out a sigh. “Get some rest,” he said, his voice softer now. “We’ll figure this out in the morning.”
Kate nodded, her head resting against his shoulder. Slowly, her eyes closed, and she drifted off to sleep in his arms. Ryan stared down at her, his mind in turmoil.
After a moment, he gently carried her to her bed and covered her with the blanket.
Since it was late, Ryan decided to stay the night. He sat in the armchair, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.
The Next Morning
Kate stirred awake and found Ryan already dressed, sitting on the edge of the bed.
She smiled, stretching lazily. “Good Morning.”
Ryan didn’t return her smile. “Get dressed. We’re going to Serena’s office.”
Kate blinked in surprise, then quickly nodded. “Alright.”
Within an hour, they were at Rocky’s Design, and Serena’s assistant, Emma, let them into her office.
Serena looked up from her desk, her eyes narrowing as she saw Kate standing beside Ryan.
Ryan didn’t waste any time. “Did you have Kate kidnapped?” he asked coldly.
Serena raised an eyebrow, folding her arms. “Excuse me?”
Kate stepped forward, her voice trembling. “Don’t act like you don’t know, Serena. You threatened me and made me leave Ryan years ago and you ended up getting married to him!”
Serena’s expression remained unreadable.
“Oh really? If that’s what you believe Ryan, then I have nothing to say. There’s nothing I’m going to say anyway that would change whatever lies she has fed you with.”
Ryan’s frustration boiled over. “So you’re not even going to deny it? That means you really did it! I can’t believe I’ve been a fool.”
Serena let out a tired sigh.
“Ryan, believe whatever you want. I’m not here to defend myself against lies. I’m not as desperate as the bitch beside you.”
Kate clenched her fist beside her , but didn’t utter a word. She needed to perfect the act and be so— sweet.
Ryan’s jaw clenched. “If you think you can get away with this, you’re wrong. I swear, I’ll take Amy away from you. My daughter can’t be with a conniving woman like you.”
Serena’s eyes darkened. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Watch me,” Ryan said coldly.
Kate stood beside him, smirking slightly, but inside, she was seething with jealousy at how protective Ryan still was over Serena.
Serena leaned back in her chair. “Do whatever you want, Ryan. But don’t come crying to me when you realize you’ve made a mistake.”
Just as Ryan was about to say more, the door to Serena’s office swung open, and an incredibly handsome man walked in with a commanding presence.
He was tall, well-built, and dressed in an expensive suit that screamed power and influence.
His sharp blue eyes locked onto Ryan with an icy glare before he shifted his attention to Serena with a look of concern.
“Is everything alright, Serena?” the man asked, his deep voice filled with authority.
Serena straightened up in her chair. “Yes,” she said, her voice steady, but her hands clenched into fists under the desk.
“Everything’s fine. Just… personal matters.”
The man wasn’t convinced. He turned back to Ryan and Kate, his expression hardening.
“I don’t know who you think you are, barging in here and hurling accusations, but this is a place of business, not your personal battleground.”
Ryan’s jaw tightened as he sized up the man standing protectively in front of Serena.
“And who the hell are you?” he asked, his voice laced with irritation. “I can’t believe you are so cheap, Serena. First was Nathan, an old school crusher and now, this—!”
The man smirked, slipping his hands into his pockets.
“I’m someone who actually respects Serena and isn’t here to play childish games,” he replied smoothly. “Unlike some people who spill gibberish.”
Kate, standing beside Ryan, felt the tension in the air and tried to step in.
“Look, we’re not here to cause trouble,” she said, her tone suddenly softer. “We just needed to clear things up—”
Serena cut her off with a sharp glare. “There’s nothing to clear up, Kate,” she said coldly. “You’ve both made your assumptions, so there’s no point in standing here wasting my time.”
Ryan clenched his fists. “So you won’t deny what Kate said, huh? Silence means guilt, Serena.”
Serena let out a humorless laugh, shaking her head.
“Think whatever you want, Ryan. I’m done explaining myself to you. Also, whatever relationship we had before now, it’s now over! Don’t dare to return to my company or my house.” She turned to the man and nodded. “Please escort them out.”
Without hesitation, the man stepped closer to Ryan, his broad shoulders making it clear he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“You heard her,” he said, his tone dripping with authority.
Ryan’s face darkened with rage, but he knew better than to cause a scene in front of so many employees.
With a final glare at Serena, he grabbed Kate’s hand and stormed out.
Once they were gone, Serena let out a breath she didn’t know she had been holding.
The man turned to her and smiled reassuringly. “You okay?”
She forced a smile and nodded. “I am now. Thank you.”
