Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 333
Ryan pulled out of the driveway, his fingers tapping lightly against the steering wheel as he navigated through the quiet streets.
The night air was crisp, and the city lights shimmered in the distance, casting a soft glow over everything.
Serena sat beside him, her arms crossed loosely, gazing out the window.
The atmosphere inside the car wasn’t tense, but it carried a weight of unspoken thoughts.
Ryan glanced at her. “So, what should we talk about?”
She turned to him with a small smirk. “You’re the one who dragged me out for a drive. Shouldn’t you have a plan?”
Ryan chuckled. “Fair enough.”
He paused for a moment, then asked, “Alright, let’s start with something simple. What’s the most ridiculous thing Amy has ever done?”
Serena let out a small laugh, already knowing she had plenty of stories to choose from.
“That’s a long list, but one time, she decided she wanted to bake cookies. I told her I’d help, but she insisted on doing it all by herself. I left her alone for five minutes—just five—and when I came back, the entire kitchen was covered in flour. And when I asked what happened, she said the ‘baking fairies’ had a flour fight.”
Ryan burst out laughing. “Baking fairies? She really said that?”
Serena nodded, laughing as well.
“With a completely straight face! And then she tried to convince me that if I just left the kitchen and came back in another five minutes, the fairies would clean everything up.”
Ryan shook his head, grinning. “Smart kid. She already knows how to negotiate.”
“She definitely didn’t get that from me,” Serena teased.
Ryan smirked. “Then it must’ve been me.”
Serena scoffed. “Right, because you’re so good at talking your way out of things?”
Ryan gave her a sideways glance. “I’d say I have my moments.”
Serena rolled her eyes but couldn’t stop the small smile that tugged at her lips.
A comfortable silence settled between them as Ryan drove further into the city.
He turned onto a road lined with small shops, most of them already closed for the night, but the neon signs still flickered, giving the street a lively glow.
Ryan slowed the car a little, nodding toward one of the shops.
“That place over there? Best late-night tacos in the city.”
Serena followed his gaze. The small stand had a few customers gathered around, chatting as they ate.
“How do you know that?”
Ryan grinned. “You forget I used to come home late a lot years ago? I may have stopped here once or twice.”
Serena tilted her head. “Should I be worried about where else you stopped at that time?”
Ryan smirked. “Do you want to be?”
Serena scoffed, shaking her head. “You’re so annoying.”
He chuckled. “Come on, I’m being serious. You want to grab something?”
Serena hesitated for a second but then nodded. “Fine. But if it’s terrible, I’ll never let you hear the end of it.”
Ryan pulled over, and they got out, walking toward the taco stand.
The smell of grilled meat and fresh spices filled the air, making Serena’s stomach grumble.
Ryan glanced at her with amusement. “Someone’s hungry after eating just a few minutes ago?”
She shot him a look. “Blame you for dragging me out in the middle of the night.”
They reached the stand, and Ryan ordered for both of them without even asking what she wanted.
Serena raised a brow. “What if I didn’t want that?”
Ryan smirked. “You would’ve said something.”
Serena huffed but didn’t argue. The food arrived quickly, and they took a seat at a small bench nearby.
Serena took a bite and her eyes widened. “Okay… you were right. This is actually good.”
Ryan leaned back, looking smug. “Told you.”
Serena rolled her eyes. “Ugh, I hate that you get to be right about something.”
Ryan laughed. “You say that like I’m wrong all the time.”
Serena gave him a pointed look. “I don’t have to say it. You already know.”
Ryan chuckled, shaking his head as they continued eating.
After a while, Ryan wiped his hands and leaned back against the bench, looking up at the sky.
“You ever think about what you’d be doing if things had gone differently?”
Serena paused mid-bite. “What do you mean?”
Ryan shrugged. “Like… if life had taken you down a different path. If you weren’t where you are now, what would you be doing?”
Serena thought for a moment, then sighed. “I don’t know. Maybe I’d be traveling. Seeing the world.”
Ryan raised a brow. “Really? I never took you for the adventurous type.”
Serena scoffed. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Ryan smirked. “I just mean you always seemed… I don’t know. More grounded.”
Serena tilted her head. “I like stability, sure. But that doesn’t mean I don’t dream.”
Ryan nodded slowly. “Fair enough.”
Serena finished the last bite of her food and glanced at him. “What about you? If things were different, what would you be doing?”
Ryan hesitated for a second before answering.
“Honestly? I don’t know. I spent so much of my life focused on work, I never really stopped to think about anything else.”
Serena watched him closely. “That’s kind of sad.”
Ryan let out a small chuckle. “Yeah… I guess it is.”
They sat in silence for a moment, the quiet hum of the city surrounding them.
Finally, Ryan stretched. “Come on, let’s get back in the car.”
They walked back, and as soon as they were inside, the atmosphere shifted slightly.
Ryan tapped his fingers against the steering wheel, not starting the car just yet. Instead, he turned to Serena.
She raised a brow. “What?”
Ryan didn’t answer. He just looked at her for a long moment. Then, slowly, he leaned in.
Serena’s breath caught.
She could feel the warmth of his presence, the way his eyes flickered to her lips.
For a second, Ryan hesitated, as if expecting her to pull away. But she didn’t.
And that was all the confirmation he needed.
He closed the distance between them, his lips pressing against hers in a slow, deliberate kiss.
Serena’s heartbeat pounded in her ears.
She hadn’t expected this—hadn’t planned for it. But instead of pulling away, she found herself kissing him back.
It was soft at first, almost hesitant, but then it deepened, and for that brief moment, nothing else existed.
When they finally pulled away, Serena’s breath was shaky. Her mind was racing, but she refused to let herself think too much about it.
She cleared her throat. “Take me home.”
Ryan searched her face for a moment, but he didn’t push.
He simply nodded, started the engine, and drove off into the night.
