Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 14

Ash's pov

I was wiping the last streak of sweat off my face when Enzo’s eyes flicked toward us with that familiar glint. Calculating. Focused. Like he’d been sparring not just for exercise, but for evaluation.

We weren’t just brothers—we were his core. His pack. His army.

“Alright,” he said, tossing the towel onto the bench with a finality that silenced all banter. “That’s enough for tonight.”

Kael groaned and flopped dramatically onto the nearest mat. “Thank the moon goddess. I was about to start seeing stars.”

Atlas kicked him lightly in the side. “You always see stars when you lose.”

“I didn’t lose,” Kael grunted, flipping him off.

Enzo ignored the exchange, walking past both of them and toward the racks where his jacket was hung. He slid it on smoothly and turned to face us, his expression calm but with that steel edge buried beneath.

“You three,” he said, voice quiet but carrying weight, “shower, dress, and meet me in the war room.”

Atlas raised a brow. “Now?”

“Unless you’d prefer I wake you all before dawn with drills.”

Kael groaned again. “No, no. War room it is.”

“Good,” Enzo said, walking off without another word.

I exchanged a glance with the other quads before heading toward the locker area. I didn’t need to ask what this was about. Enzo didn’t summon us to the war room unless it was important—and if I had to guess, the visit to Baron’s territory had stirred more than just pity and politics.

Something was brewing.

By the time we got to the war room, Enzo was already seated at the head of the long stone table, maps and scrolls rolled out before him, half a glass of wine in his hand. The wall sconces cast flickering shadows across his face, but he looked calm. In control.

The door shut behind us with a soft click.

“Sit,” he ordered, nodding toward the chairs across from him.

We obeyed, all three of us dropping into our usual spots. This room had seen countless hours of strategy, arguments, and decisions that shaped the fate of our land. We each knew our place here—not just in rank, but in purpose.

“I’ve been reviewing our western patrol routes,” Enzo began, his fingers sliding across one of the parchment maps. “There’s been too much silence near the edges of our borders with Crimson Fang. I don’t like it.”

“They’re probably licking their wounds,” Kael muttered.

“Or sharpening their blades,” I added.

Enzo nodded slightly. “Exactly. Which is why I want a shift in our formation. We’ll increase patrol rotations and double the headcount on night watches.”

Atlas leaned forward, tracing one of the border lines on the map. “We’ll need to reassign two full squads from the central barracks. They’re underutilised anyway.”

“I’ll handle the adjustment,” I said, already forming the logistics in my head.

“Good,” Enzo replied, pleased.

“And training?” I asked, glancing at the charts stacked on the side of the table.

“We intensify it,” Enzo said. “We’ve grown comfortable. That makes us vulnerable.”

“Agreed,” I said.

“Start prepping a new training rotation,” he continued, looking at me specifically. “Tailored to endurance. I want our wolves running harder and longer.”

I nodded.

He then turned to Atlas. “You’ll oversee the weapons stockpile. Make sure we’re not low on silver-coated blades. And I want an updated count of all tactical gear—armour, restraints, and restraints for alphas especially.”

“Copy that,” Atlas replied.

Enzo’s gaze shifted to Kael last. “And you… you’re going to start visiting the outer territories. Quietly. Gauge the loyalty of our allied packs. I want reports. Nothing missed.”

Kael scratched the back of his neck, grinning. “Sounds dangerous. I’m in.”

“This isn’t a game,” Enzo said coldly.

The grin faded slightly. “I know.”

The room grew quiet for a moment. The crackle of the fireplace was the only sound.

Then Enzo leaned back. “There’s something else.”

I raised a brow. “What?”

He didn’t speak immediately. Just stared into the fire for a moment.

“I’m going to start restructuring how omegas are treated in our pack.”

Kael tilted his head. “Because of her?”

“Because of what I saw,” Enzo answered calmly. “And because no one fears a kingdom that can’t protect its weakest.”

He wasn’t wrong. But it wasn’t the kind of thing any of us expected him to say. Not tonight.

Atlas looked surprised but said nothing. Kael blinked, scratching his cheek. I just leaned back and studied our Alpha. Our brother.

There was a shift in him. Subtle, but real.

And somehow, I knew this wasn’t just about strategy.

It was about legacy.

I stood on my feet to exit the room before Enzo decided to add more work on the tab for me, which I can't deny, but do I like it? ... no.

I walked out of the office with piles of files in my arm as I moved swiftly to my room. My eyes fell on Lisa's room. I heaved a sigh before walking away.

“She doesn't seem to recognise me,” I muttered under my breath, kicking the door to my room open.

“Do you recognise the mask wearer?” My wolf chirped in while I rolled my eyes.

“I at least sense some familiarity from someone I had met briefly,” I muttered, dropping the stack of files on the table.

“Not everyone takes notice of small things like that,” Roger said, shutting me off from linking with his mind.

“Such a rude jerk, always having the final words,” I muttered, dropping on my bed as I exhaled sharply.

The plan was resting in my head when my door burst open; Atlas and Keal rushed inside. Kael, being the playful one, jumped directly onto my bed.

“Can you at least change your clothes before making a mess on my bed?” I yap out angrily, pushing kael off my bed.

He made his puppy eyes, pouting his lips together as he feigned tears. Atlas rubbed his temples while laughing out loud.

“You are stuck with this one,” he muttered, sloping down to a nearby chair.

“You both are toxic,” I muttered.
