Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 375
Serena walked into the boardroom with a sharp, confident stride, her heels clicking against the polished marble floor.
The atmosphere inside was thick with tension, an unspoken heaviness hanging between the members seated at the long glass table.
She could already feel their eyes on her, some filled with skepticism, others with curiosity, and a few with outright disapproval.
She had known this meeting was coming the moment she stepped foot back in Los Angeles. The murmurs, the side glances, the way people in her own company avoided looking her directly in the eye—it all pointed to one thing.
Someone had been working against her, and from the way some of the board members sat stiffly with their papers neatly stacked before them, she already had a good idea who.
Still, she didn’t let it show.
She pulled out her chair with deliberate ease, setting her bag down beside her as she took her seat at the head of the table, her face unreadable.
“Alright,” she said, her voice cool and composed. “Let’s get to it.”
The chairman, a graying man in his late fifties, adjusted his tie before clearing his throat. “Serena, we appreciate you making time for this meeting on such short notice.”
Serena gave a tight smile. “I assume I didn’t have much of a choice.”
A few of them exchanged glances. Some of them looked almost embarrassed, but others—especially the ones who had already been convinced to turn against her—remained firm.
Richard, one of the senior shareholders, leaned forward, folding his hands neatly in front of him. “There are growing concerns about the state of Rocky’s Designs, Serena. We believe it’s time to have an open discussion about the future of this company.”
Serena arched her brow. “Growing concerns? That’s an interesting way to phrase it. As far as I’m aware, Rocky’s Designs is still leading in the industry. Despite the temporary backlash, we’ve secured major contracts, including one that I just closed in Paris.”
Richard nodded slowly, his expression calculated. “No one is denying your ability to close deals. But the problem isn’t just the contracts, Serena. It’s the image you’re portraying to the public.”
Another board member, Daniel, spoke up. “Rocky’s Designs have always been built on reputation—on elegance, class, and stability. Lately, the media has painted a very different picture.”
Serena exhaled sharply, already knowing where this was going. “So, let me get this straight. My leadership is being questioned, not because I’ve mismanaged the company, not because I’ve failed to deliver results, but because of how the media is spinning stories about my personal life?”
Daniel didn’t flinch. “The public perception of a CEO matters, Serena. And right now, your name is attached to controversy.”
Another shareholder, a woman named Linda, cleared her throat. “Your name has been in the headlines far too often. There were the stories about your divorce from Ryan Winters, and now there are pictures of you with a guy called Lucas. Even if none of it is true, even if these are just media speculations, investors don’t see it that way.”
Serena’s jaw tightened. “And yet, none of those articles mention the fact that I’ve been running this company successfully despite it all.”
Richard sighed. “Serena, it’s not about what’s fair. It’s about business. Investors don’t care about what’s real. They care about stability. And right now, they don’t see that in you.”
Serena glanced around the room, watching the way some of the board members remained silent, clearly uncertain about which side to take.
But others—like Richard, Daniel, and a few others she now suspected had been persuaded before this meeting—were completely sure of themselves.
She leaned forward slightly, her fingers interlaced on the table. “Let’s be honest here. This isn’t just a discussion. This is a power play, isn’t it?”
Daniel adjusted his tie, but Richard was the one who answered. “It’s about ensuring Rocky’s Designs remain at the top. And to do that, we need strong leadership.”
Serena let out a slow, humorless chuckle. “And you think I’m not strong?”
Richard didn’t blink. “We think you’re too controversial.”
Silence settled over the room for a moment.
Then Serena exhaled, her voice dangerously calm. “So, what’s your plan? Do you expect me to step down?”
The chairman spoke up again, his tone careful. “We’re not making any immediate decisions today. But we do believe that this is something that needs to be evaluated carefully.”
Richard leaned back in his chair. “A vote.”
Serena’s lips pressed together. “A vote?”
Richard nodded. “In two days, the board will vote on whether or not you remain as CEO.”
Serena’s heart pounded in her chest, but her expression remained unreadable. She had expected resistance, had known that people would use the scandal against her, but the fact that they had already orchestrated a vote meant that they were serious about pushing her out.
She slowly tilted her head. “And if I win?”
Daniel’s jaw tightened. “Then you stay as CEO.”
Serena inhaled deeply, looking around the table. Some of the board members still looked hesitant, but the ones who had been really cold—who had likely been pulled into this by outside forces—were completely resolute.
She turned her gaze back to Richard. “And if I lose?”
Richard didn’t hesitate. “You step down, effective immediately.”
Serena exhaled, pressing her palms against the table. “And who exactly proposed this idea?”
Silence.
Serena smirked, shaking her head. “Right. That’s what I thought.”
She turned toward the chairman. “And you agreed to this?”
The chairman shifted uncomfortably. “We all have to consider what is best for Rocky’s Designs.”
Serena let out a slow breath, suppressing the anger rising in her chest. She had spent years building this company, turning it into one of the most successful brands in the industry. And now, because of a few bad headlines, because of people who wanted to see her fail, they were questioning everything she had built.
But she wasn’t going to let them win.
Finally, she stood, pushing back her chair. “Then in forty-eight hours, we’ll see who truly has control of this company.”
She met Richard’s gaze directly. “But let me make something very clear—I don’t go down without a fight.”
Richard smirked slightly, his expression unreadable.
The chairman cleared his throat. “That will be all for today. We will reconvene for the vote in two days.”
Serena gave a tight nod before turning on her heel and walking out of the boardroom, her head held high.
The moment she stepped out, she released a slow breath.
This wasn’t just business anymore.
It was a war.
