Lisa's POV

I could feel the crowd pressing in from all sides, their voices blending into one roaring wave of anticipation, mockery, and bloodlust. My hands were trembling, not out of fear but out of sheer awareness that this was no longer just a petty challenge. This was survival, pride, and the heavy weight of what it meant to be me — just an omega in their eyes, standing against Irene, a woman of royal blood.

Her sneer cut deeper than any blade. “Do you think you can humiliate me by winning a game of archery, omega? You think that was real? That was luck. Nothing more.” Her voice dripped with venom as she stepped forward, shoulders squared, eyes blazing. “No ordinary omega can beat me.”

The murmurs in the crowd grew louder, fueling her arrogance. I held my ground, staring straight at her. I wouldn’t bow, not today, not ever again.

“If you’re so confident,” she snarled, “then let’s end this properly. A spar. A deadly one. If you win, I’ll grovel at your feet before the entire pack. But when I win…” Her lips curled into a cruel smile. “You’ll kneel, broken, and I’ll make sure you regret ever stepping into the arena.”

Gasps erupted around us. Some were excited, some shocked, others eager for blood.

Enzo moved quickly, stepping in with his hands raised. “Enough! Irene, this isn’t the way—”

But before he could finish, Irene snapped, “Stay out of it, Enzo! This is between me and her. Unless you want everyone to believe your precious pack tolerates weakness.”

I clenched my fists. I wanted to say no. I wanted to scream at the unfairness of it. But my pride burned too hot. The thought of backing down in front of them, letting her smear me into the dirt without a fight, was more suffocating than the fear of death.

“I’ll do it.”

The words left my mouth before I could stop them.

The crowd went wild. Some cheered, others booed, but all eyes were fixed on us.

I felt a tug on my arm. Ash dragged me backward, his face tight with frustration. “Lisa, are you insane? She’s royal blood. You’re… you’re just—” He stopped himself, but I heard the word anyway. Just an omega.

I stared back at him, jaw tight. “I’m fine with it. Let me fight her.”

“Lisa—”

“I said I’m fine.” My voice broke slightly, but I steadied it. I couldn’t afford weakness. Not now.

Irene laughed, cold and sharp, as she stripped off her outer robe, revealing lean, hard muscle beneath. “Perfect. Let’s make this quick.”

The circle formed around us almost instantly, the crowd pushing and shoving to get the best view. The floor beneath my bare feet felt cold, the smell of dust, sweat, and blood clogging my nose. My heart pounded so hard I thought it might burst.

The fight began with no more warning than Irene lunging forward, her nails extended like claws. She swung with lightning speed, and I barely ducked in time, feeling the sting as her nails grazed my cheek. Warmth bloomed across my skin — blood.

She grinned. “First blood. You’re going down fast.”

I forced my breathing steady and circled her, trying to remember every lesson I had ever absorbed watching warriors train. Keep low. Don’t overcommit. Use her arrogance against her.

She charged again, this time kicking out. The impact landed square in my stomach, knocking the wind out of me. I stumbled back, choking, my knees threatening to buckle. Pain lanced through me like fire.

The crowd roared.

“Get up, omega!” someone shouted.

Irene strutted closer, her eyes glittering with savage delight. “Is this all? Pathetic. You’ll crawl before me soon enough.”

Rage lit up inside me. I sprang forward, catching her off guard, and slammed my fist into her jaw. The crack of bone meeting bone echoed, and for a moment her smirk faltered.

The crowd howled, half in shock, half in delight.

But the triumph was short-lived. Irene roared and tackled me to the ground, her fists raining down. I tried to block, but she was faster, stronger, trained. Blows cracked against my ribs, one after another, white-hot pain stealing my breath.

Blood filled my mouth.

I gagged and coughed, tasting iron, feeling the sting of every strike. My vision blurred at the edges. She laughed while she hit me, her hair whipping, her fury unrelenting.

“Stay down, omega! You’re nothing!”

Something in me snapped. My body screamed in agony, but my spirit refused to bow. With every ounce of strength I had left, I twisted, rolling us over. My elbow smashed into her face, once, twice, and I felt her nose crunch under the force.

Her scream tore through the air.

I staggered up to my feet, panting, blood dripping down my chin, my vision spinning. I could barely stand, but I forced myself into a stance again.

The crowd was a blur of faces, their screams deafening. Some were chanting my name now, others spitting insults, but all of them were hooked.

Irene wiped the blood from her face and stared at me, pure hatred in her eyes. “I’ll kill you for that.”

She came at me like a storm. Claws ripped into my arm, hot pain flooding through me. Her knee drove into my side, snapping something inside — ribs. I screamed, the sound tearing from my throat.

I fell to one knee.

My vision swam, darkness closing in. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t move. My body felt broken.

Her shadow loomed over me, and I knew this was it.

Then I felt it.

Deep inside, beneath the layers of pain, fear, and despair, something stirred. A presence. Fierce. Ancient. Mine.

*Get up.*

The voice wasn’t mine. It was rough, powerful, vibrating through every bone.

My wolf.

For the first time, she was there, burning inside me. Not fully, not completely, but enough.

Energy surged through me, raw and wild. My senses sharpened. The pain dulled, replaced by fire. My nails lengthened, my muscles tightened, and a growl ripped from my throat, shocking even me.

Irene hesitated, just for a moment.

That moment was all I needed.

I lunged forward with a speed that wasn’t mine, slamming into her with everything I had. The force sent her sprawling across the floor, crashing into the edge of the arena.

Her scream filled the air as the impact cracked her ribs, the sound sharp and sickening.

I stood over her, drenched in blood — hers and mine — my chest heaving, vision red with fury. My wolf receded just as suddenly as she had come, leaving me trembling, drained.

But Irene wasn’t moving.

The crowd exploded, the sound rattling the walls, voices shouting, gasping, screaming.

I dropped to my knees, the strength leaving me all at once. Blood poured from my wounds, soaking into the dirt, painting me red. My body screamed, every broken rib, every tear demanding surrender.

I collapsed forward, my hands hitting the floor, my blood dripping like rain.

And in that chaos, in that sea of voices, I heard only silence inside me. My wolf, gone again, but leaving behind a promise.

She was there.

And I wasn’t just an omega anymore.

I was something more.

Then everything went black.
