Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 380
The exclusive country club’s private lounge was silent except for the occasional clinking of glasses and the muffled sound of jazz playing softly in the background.
It was a place where powerful men gathered to discuss matters that could not be spoken about in boardrooms or over corporate emails.
Here, in the dimly lit space lined with rich mahogany furniture and the scent of aged whiskey, deals were struck, enemies were made, and secrets were buried.
Tonight was no different.
Richard and Daniel sat across from Thomas Winters, the man they had placed their trust in to help them remove Serena from Rocky’s Designs.
The expressions on their faces were tense, filled with frustration and uncertainty.
They had expected tonight’s meeting to be a victory toast, a quiet celebration of Serena’s downfall. Instead, they had to sit here and report their failure.
Thomas, on the other hand, sat completely still, his fingers drumming lightly against the glass of whiskey in his hand. His sharp blue eyes were unreadable as he studied the two men in front of him.
Richard cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably. “It didn’t go as planned.”
Thomas remained silent, swirling his whiskey in the glass. The anticipation was unbearable.
Daniel exhaled and leaned forward slightly. “Serena won the vote. Eleven to seven. She’s still CEO.”
The silence that followed was suffocating.
Thomas’s once relaxed posture stiffened ever so slightly, but his face remained calm.
His fingers stilled against the glass, and for a brief moment, the only sound in the room was the faint ticking of the antique clock mounted on the wall.
Then, with an exhale that was almost amused, Thomas leaned back in his chair, his lips curling into the faintest smirk. “So, you failed.”
Richard clenched his jaw.
“We did everything we could. We had the votes lined up. We were sure it would go in our favor, but she must have spent the last two days securing support. She flipped some of the undecided members at the last minute.”
Thomas’s smirk didn’t fade. He simply raised the glass to his lips, taking a slow sip before placing it down on the table with an eerie calm.
“Tell me something,” he said smoothly, his voice dangerously low. “Did you ever actually have control over those undecided votes? Or were you just assuming they’d fall in line?”
Daniel stiffened. “We had good reason to believe—”
“Good reason,” Thomas interrupted, laughing softly, though there was no humor in his voice.
“Do you hear yourself? You don’t believe something in business. You make it a damn certainty.” He shook his head, letting out an exasperated sigh.
“This is what happens when you underestimate your opponent. And now, because of your incompetence, Serena is still in power.”
Richard sat up straighter, the frustration spilling over. “We didn’t underestimate her. We pushed the media scandal, we worked the board, we did everything we were supposed to do! It should have been enough.”
Thomas studied him, his gaze sharp. “Clearly, it wasn’t.”
Daniel ran a hand over his face. “So what now? We can’t push for another vote anytime soon. The board won’t entertain it after this.”
Thomas leaned back, steepling his fingers. “Then we stop playing by their rules.”
Richard frowned. “What do you mean?”
Thomas exhaled, shaking his head slightly. “Serena has proven she can control the board. She’s built herself a strong defense. If we keep attacking her head-on, we’ll lose every time. So, instead of fighting her where she’s strongest, we attack where she’s weakest.”
Daniel exchanged a wary glance with Richard. “Are you saying we should go after her personally?”
Thomas tilted his head slightly, his smirk widening. “What I’m saying is that her control over this company relies entirely on her public image. Her reputation is the only thing holding her position in place. If we were to… alter that image, even slightly, we wouldn’t have to push for another vote. The board would do it themselves.”
Richard folded his arms. “The media has already gone after her. The whole scandal with Ryan and Lucas barely made a dent. What more could we possibly do?”
Thomas let out a chuckle, a slow, deliberate sound. “That’s because the media only had speculation. What we need is something undeniable. Something real.”
Daniel frowned. “You’re talking about setting her up?”
Thomas’s smirk didn’t waver. “Come now, Daniel. Don’t act so surprised. You knew what you were signing up for the moment you walked into this room.”
Daniel exhaled, rubbing his jaw. “And how exactly do you plan on doing this?”
Thomas swirled his whiskey, his mind already working. “We create a scandal so destructive that it forces the board’s hand. But it has to be done right. People need to believe it. It needs to be something they can’t ignore.”
Richard frowned. “And what exactly do you have in mind?”
Thomas tapped a finger against the table. “There are two ways to destroy someone in business. One is to prove they are incompetent. The other is to make them look corrupt.”
Daniel sat forward, curiosity piqued. “You’re suggesting we make it look like she’s involved in something unethical?”
Thomas nodded. “Exactly. If Serena is accused of something serious, something that threatens the very integrity of Rocky’s Designs, the board won’t need a vote. They’ll demand her resignation immediately.”
Richard exhaled. “This sounds risky.”
Thomas chuckled. “Risky? Everything in business is risky, Richard. The difference between those who win and those who lose is how well they play the game.”
Daniel hesitated before nodding slowly. “If we do this, it has to be airtight. If she catches wind of it before it gains traction, she’ll fight back harder than ever.”
Thomas smirked. “I’m counting on that. The more she fights, the more desperate she looks. And desperation makes people sloppy.”
Richard shifted uncomfortably. “We can’t afford any mistakes, Thomas. If this backfires, we’ll be the ones exposed.”
Thomas lifted his glass, taking another slow sip before setting it down. “Which is why we won’t be handling it ourselves.”
Daniel narrowed his eyes. “You have someone in mind?”
Thomas pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts. “I know someone who specializes in… problem-solving. A fixer.”
Richard’s expression darkened. “You’re serious about this?”
Thomas met his gaze, his smirk never fading. “Dead serious.”
Daniel leaned back in his chair. “And what exactly do you need us to do?”
Thomas exhaled, finishing the last of his whiskey. “For now, nothing. I’ll set things in motion. But when the time comes, I expect both of you to be ready.”
Richard and Daniel exchanged another glance before nodding hesitantly.
Thomas raised his glass, his expression filled with cold amusement. “To a future without Serena Winthrop.”
The two men hesitated for a brief second before clinking their glasses against his, sealing their fate.
A dangerous silence settled between them, the weight of their decision hanging in the air like a storm waiting to break.
“This is just the beginning Serena Winthrop. Since you won’t let Ryan be, I’ll ruin everything you’ve built!”
