Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 276
Ryan entered his lawyer’s office, adjusting his tie and taking a deep breath before sitting down.
His lawyer, Mr. Harris, looked up from his papers and gave him a quick nod.
“Mr Ryan,” Mr. Harris greeted him, his tone professional but friendly.
“I’m glad you could make it. We’ve got a lot to go over together.”
Ryan nodded, looking at the stack of documents on the table.
“Yeah, I know. But I’ll be out of town for a few days, so I need to make sure everything stays on track while I’m gone and that’s the reason I’m here..”
Mr. Harris raised an eyebrow.
“Out of town? You just told me about the custody case. Is this a business trip?”
Ryan sighed.
“Yes, unfortunately. My father’s calling me to Paris for a big deal. It’s important, so I have to go.
But this custody thing, it’s not over, and I can’t afford any delays. Can you handle everything until I get back?”
“I can,” Mr. Harris replied, flipping through his notes.
“We’re working on filing the next paperwork, but you should know that the other side is going to fight harder now that they know you’re serious. They won’t back down easily.”
Ryan clenched his jaw. “I don’t care. I want my daughter, and I’m not giving up.”
“I understand,” Mr. Harris said, looking up.
“We’ll keep pushing. But while you’re gone, I’ll make sure to follow up with the court and keep you updated. Just focus on your business trip and get back to me when you can.”
Ryan nodded, feeling slightly relieved.
“Thanks. I’ll trust you to handle it. But don’t let anything slide. I need you at your best.”
“I’ll handle it. You have my word.” Mr. Harris gave a reassuring smile, “Now, go ahead and get out of here. You’ve got a flight to catch tomorrow.”
Ryan stood up and shook Mr. Harris’ hand. “I’ll be in touch. Thanks again.”
After the meeting, Ryan made his way to the café where he had arranged to meet Serena and Amy.
He parked his car and walked to the entrance, the cool evening air hitting him as he glanced around.
They weren’t there yet, so he sat down at one of the tables outside, waiting.
He checked his watch and looked up again, scanning the street. His mind was a swirl of thoughts, most of them about Amy and the situation with Serena.
It felt strange to see her again after almost two weeks.
The tension between them had been building for a while, but right now, his focus was on his daughter.
Finally, he saw Serena and Amy approaching the café.
Amy’s face lit up when she spotted him, and she ran over, practically jumping into his arms.
“Daddy!” Amy exclaimed, hugging him tightly. “I missed you!”
Ryan smiled, squeezing her tightly. “I missed you too, sweetheart. How are you?”
“I’m good! I had so much fun at the amusement park with Nathan!” Amy’s voice was full of excitement.
“We went on the biggest ride ever! And we ate cotton candy, and I had ice cream, and Nathan bought me a toy!”
Ryan’s heart clenched at the mention of Nathan.
His mood shifted, and he could feel the tension building in his chest, but he kept his expression calm.
He wasn’t here to cause trouble. He wanted to be with his daughter, that was all.
“That sounds like a lot of fun,” Ryan said, trying to keep his voice neutral. “Nathan’s a nice guy, huh?”
Amy nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah! He’s super nice. And he makes me laugh a lot. Plus he is a good mommy’s friend.”
Ryan felt his jaw tighten, but he stayed silent, focusing on Amy.
“I’m glad you’re having fun, sweetheart. I’ll be back soon, and I’ll bring you something nice from Paris, okay?”
Amy’s eyes widened with excitement. “Really? What kind of gift?”
Ryan smiled. “You’ll see when I get back. But it’s going to be something special.”
“Yay!” Amy jumped up and down, her joy filling the air.
Serena, who had been sitting quietly, looking at her phone the whole time, finally spoke up.
“Are you going somewhere?” she asked, glancing at Ryan.
Ryan glanced at her but didn’t let his emotions show. “Yeah. I have a business trip. I’m leaving for Paris tomorrow.”
Serena raised an eyebrow. “Paris? So, what does that mean for Amy?”
“I’m only going for a few days. I’ll be back soon,” Ryan replied. He turned to Amy.
“I’ll miss you, but we’ll talk on the phone while I’m gone. And don’t forget, I’m bringing you a gift when I return.”
Amy giggled and nodded. “I won’t forget, Daddy!”
Serena looked at Ryan with a hard expression, but said nothing.
She stood up and walked over to Amy, who was still holding on to Ryan. “It’s getting late, Amy. Time to go home.”
Ryan hesitated, feeling a twinge of frustration. He wanted to spend more time with his daughter, but he couldn’t push Serena.
“Alright, sweetheart. I’ll see you soon, okay?”
Amy nodded, but she didn’t let go of Ryan. “I want to come with you, Daddy!”
Ryan smiled softly, brushing a lock of hair from her face.
“I know you do, but I’ll be back before you know it. We’ll have plenty of time to play when I get home.”
“Okay,” Amy said reluctantly.
Serena took Amy’s hand, pulling her gently toward the car. Ryan stood there, watching them walk away.
A part of him wanted to stop them, to demand that he get more time with Amy, but he knew better.
He couldn’t force anything. He had to wait until the custody case was settled.
With a sigh, Ryan turned and walked back to his car.
When he got home, Kate was already there, waiting for him.
The apartment was dimly lit, and the smell of food wafted through the air.
She had prepared dinner, setting the table with an array of dishes.
“Hey,” Kate said, standing up and walking over to him. She hugged him tightly, planting a kiss on his cheek.
“How was your day?”
Ryan held her for a moment before pulling back. “It was fine. A little busy, but nothing I can’t handle.”
Kate smiled. “I’m glad. I made your favorite dinner, so sit down and eat.”
Ryan smiled faintly, his mind still preoccupied with his daughter and everything happening with Serena.
He sat down at the table as Kate began serving the food.
“So, what’s going on tomorrow?” Kate asked, sitting down beside him and picking up her fork.
Ryan sighed. “I’m flying out to Paris. I have a meeting there.”
Kate raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised.
“Paris? Why didn’t you call me? I could have gone with you.”
Ryan shook his head, his tone blunt.
“You’re pregnant, Kate. It’s not the best idea to travel right now. You need to rest.”
Kate frowned but didn’t argue.
“Okay, I get it. But I still wish you’d let me come with you.”
“I’ll be back soon,” Ryan said, trying to reassure her. “It’s only for a few days. You’ll be fine here.”
Kate nodded, but Ryan could see the disappointment in her eyes. He didn’t want to upset her, but his mind was elsewhere.
They ate in silence for a few moments, the only sound being the clinking of silverware against plates.
After dinner, Ryan helped Kate clean up before they moved to the living room.
“You’re all packed, right?” Kate asked as she sat down beside him on the couch.
Ryan nodded.
“Yeah, I’ll be ready. Jefferson’s already got everything arranged.”
“Good,” Kate said, standing up. “I’ll help you get everything sorted tonight.”
The next morning, Jefferson arrived at Ryan’s apartment early.
He was already dressed in a suit, carrying a suitcase and a briefcase.
Ryan exchanged a few words with Kate before she walked him to the door.
They kissed briefly before Ryan stepped into the car with Jefferson.
Kate watched them drive off, a mixture of emotions swirling inside her as she stood at the door.
