Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 158

Kael's POV

I pushed the door open without knocking, clutching the folder under my arm, and found the three of them already there. Enzo was sitting behind his wide desk, one hand drumming against the wood, the other holding a pen he clearly wasn’t using. Ash was lounging in the chair to his left, his posture lazy but his eyes sharp, while Atlas was leaning against the bookshelf, looking like he had nowhere better to be.

I cleared my throat. “I brought the security revisions you asked for.”

Enzo looked up, one brow arched. “Finally. I was beginning to think you’d run off with them.”

I smirked and walked in, tossing the folder on his desk. “If I wanted to run off, you’d never know until it was too late.”

Ash gave a low chuckle. “That’s exactly the kind of thing Kael would say.”

Atlas snorted. “And it’s exactly why I wouldn’t trust him with anything involving my life.”

“Please,” I shot back, dropping into one of the chairs. “If it wasn’t for me, half of you wouldn’t even have your heads still attached.”

Enzo opened the folder, flipping through the pages slowly. He didn’t respond immediately, and the silence stretched. I leaned back, waiting. Ash tapped his fingers against the armrest, restless. Atlas rolled his eyes at the quiet. Finally, Enzo hummed and said, “Not bad. You caught what the last scouts missed.”

“Of course I did,” I said. “That’s why you keep me around.”

That earned me a sideways look from Ash. “Don’t flatter yourself. Enzo keeps you around because you know how to run your mouth better than anyone else.”

I laughed. “And because I know how to shut it when it matters.”

Enzo closed the folder and set it aside. “Good. That takes care of business. Now… since all of us are here, might as well talk.”

Ash tilted his head, curiosity flashing in his eyes. “Talk about what?”

Enzo leaned back in his chair, folding his arms. “Lisa.”

The moment her name left his mouth, the mood shifted. Atlas raised his brows, Ash sat up straighter, and I couldn’t help the grin spreading across my face.

“What about her?” I asked.

Enzo let out a slow breath, almost like he was still trying to piece the thought together. “It amazes me that after five months… she still doesn’t realize it isn’t just me.”

Ash burst out laughing, so sudden and loud it startled even me. “You’re telling me! I thought she would’ve caught on weeks ago. But she still looks at me like I’m you every time.”

Atlas smirked, crossing his arms. “That’s because you’re decent at copying his scowl. But you’re not fooling me with that hair of yours. It always looks like you got into a fight with a storm.”

Ash rolled his eyes. “Yet it works. She doesn’t question it. Not once.”

I shook my head, amused. “Unbelievable. For someone who claims she can read people, she’s been blind for months. Blind, and blissfully unaware that the four of us have been taking turns.”

Enzo chuckled then, deep and quiet, the sound of a man both entertained and incredulous. “Exactly. I can walk into her room after one of you has left, and she still greets me like nothing happened. Sometimes I wonder if she wants to be fooled.”

Atlas leaned forward slightly. “Or maybe she’s just not thinking. Too wrapped up in the way you make her feel to notice the small differences.”

That made me laugh harder. “Small differences? Please, Atlas, don’t pretend there aren’t big ones.”

Ash grinned wickedly. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”

“Damn right I am,” I said, eyes gleaming with mischief. “You expect me to believe she hasn’t noticed how different we are when we touch her? When we move inside her? No way. Unless her brain is made of fog.”

Atlas chuckled under his breath. “Maybe it is. Maybe that’s why she clings so much to Enzo. She thinks he’s the anchor in all of it.”

Enzo smirked faintly but didn’t deny it. “She is clingy. Too much, sometimes. Arguing with me in front of the servants like she owns me. If only they knew…”

Ash leaned back, his grin turning sharp. “If only they knew she’s owned by all of us. That she’s bent beneath each one of us and never once realized the truth.”

I couldn’t stop the laugh that tore from me. “Oh gods, Lisa would lose her mind if she found out. Can you imagine her face? The shock? The betrayal? The embarrassment?”

Atlas barked out a laugh too. “She’d probably faint before she managed a single word.”

Enzo shook his head, though he was smiling now. “She would be furious. Hurt, yes, but furious first. She thinks she knows me so well. And yet she doesn’t know this.”

Ash’s eyes glinted. “You almost sound like you want her to find out.”

“Maybe,” Enzo admitted after a pause. “But not yet. The timing has to be right.”

Atlas hummed. “In the meantime, I don’t mind enjoying the game. She’s soft, eager, and far too trusting for her own good. Every time I go in, she melts like it’s her first time.”

That had me cackling. “You’re kidding. She actually believes you’re Enzo?”

Atlas’s grin widened. “Every damn time. She closes her eyes and whispers his name, and I let her. It’s almost funny. Almost.”

Ash shook his head in disbelief. “She whispers mine too. Not my name, of course, but his. Always his. I wonder if she’d ever dare whisper another if she knew.”

Enzo’s gaze flicked between us, measuring, calculating. “And Kael? You’ve been quieter than usual. Don’t tell me you don’t have anything to add.”

I smirked, leaning forward with my elbows on my knees. “Oh, I have plenty to add. You think she hasn’t given me enough to laugh about? Please. Every time I’ve gone in, she’s begged me not to be rough. Guess what I did? Exactly what she begged me not to. And still, the next morning, she clings to you, Enzo, like nothing happened.”

Ash whistled low. “That’s cruel.”

“It’s the truth,” I said, shrugging. “She takes it, all of it, without questioning why you’re suddenly rougher one night and softer the next. Either she’s the most naïve woman alive, or she enjoys being deceived.”

Atlas chuckled. “Naïve. Definitely naïve. She doesn’t see beyond what’s in front of her.”

Ash tilted his head thoughtfully. “Or maybe she does, but she chooses not to acknowledge it. Denial can be a powerful shield.”

I grinned darkly. “Well, denial or not, it makes our job easier. I’ve had my fun, and so have the rest of you. And she hasn’t caught on once. Not once.”

Enzo let out another laugh, quieter this time, tinged with disbelief. “It still shocks me. Five months. Four men. And she only sees me.”

Ash leaned closer to him. “Maybe that’s what she wants. Maybe she only wants to see you. The rest of us? Just shadows she doesn’t want to name.”

Atlas added, “Shadows that leave her satisfied enough not to ask questions.”

I couldn’t stop the grin spreading wider. “Satisfied is an understatement. She practically begs for more every time. And you expect me to believe she thinks you’re the only one giving it to her, Enzo? She’s either blind, stupid, or both.”

Enzo chuckled low. “Maybe both.”

The four of us broke into laughter then, the sound filling the room, rough and unrestrained. For a moment, it wasn’t about strategy or secrets or responsibilities. It was just about the game we’d been playing, the woman none of us expected to fool for so long, and the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

Ash wiped at his eyes, still laughing. “Lisa, Lisa, Lisa… if only you knew.”

Atlas shook his head, still grinning. “She’ll find out eventually.”

“Maybe,” Enzo said softly, his smile lingering. “But until then, she’s ours. Every part of her.”

And none of us argued with that.
