Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 316
Emma sat up in bed, staring at her phone in disbelief.
Serena’s voice still echoed in her head—“I’m being arrested. Please come to my apartment. Take Amy and stay with her until I sort this out. Also call the contact I’m sending to you.”
She threw her blanket aside and jumped out of bed, her heart racing.
“This can’t be happening,” she muttered, pulling open her wardrobe and grabbing a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt.
Her hands trembled as she struggled to get dressed, her mind spinning with worry for both Serena and little Amy.
Before heading out to her living room, Emma grabbed her phone again and dialed Ethan’s number.
He answered on the second ring, his voice groggy with sleep.
“Hey, babe… what’s wrong? It’s late. Aren’t you sleeping yet? Do you want me to tuck you to bed?” He asked, his voice playful.
“Ethan,” Emma blurted out, her voice shaky, “I need your help. My boss, Serena, has been arrested.”
“What?” Ethan shot up from his bed, now fully awake. “Arrested? For what?”
“I don’t know all the details, but she called me. She wants me to go to her place and get her daughter, Amy. I’m about to leave now.”
“Wait, wait,” Ethan interrupted, already getting out of bed.
“It’s too late for you to go alone. I’ll come pick you up. Just get ready and wait for me.”
“Ethan, I—”
“No arguments, Emma. I’m on my way.”
Emma sighed, realizing he was right. It was late, and getting a cab would be difficult.
“Okay, fine. Hurry.”
As soon as the call ended, she dialed another number—Steve Jacob, the contact Serena had sent her.
The phone rang twice before a deep, groggy voice answered.
“Hello?”
“Hi, good evening sir. Is this Mr. Steve Jacob?” Emma asked, trying to keep her voice steady and polite.
“Yes, who’s this?”
“My name is Emma. I’m Serena Winthrop’s assistant. She asked me to call you. She’s been arrested.”
There was a pause.
“Arrested?” Steve’s voice grew sharp. “For what?”
“I don’t know exactly. The police just took her. She managed to call me before they left.”
“Where are they holding her?”
“I’m not sure, but I think it’s the central police station.”
“Thank you for calling,” Steve said quickly before ending the call.
Emma stared at her phone for a second, then sighed and grabbed her bag.
A few minutes later, she heard Ethan’s car pull up outside. She rushed out, locking the door behind her.
Ethan was leaning against his car, his hair messy from sleep, but his face was filled with concern.
“You okay?” he asked as she slid into the passenger seat.
“No. I’m worried about Ma’am Serena,” Emma admitted, buckling her seatbelt. “And Amy. She’s just a kid.”
Ethan started the car and drove off, glancing at Emma occasionally.
“She’ll be fine. I’m sure your boss, Serena, is tough.”
Emma could only sighed.
Meanwhile, across town, Steve Jacob was already dressed, slipping into a tailored black suit.
His face was tight with frustration as he grabbed the keys to his rented car.
Steve arrived at the police station quickly, parking his car and striding inside with an air of authority.
The moment he entered, heads turned.
Even though he didn’t live in Arizona, his reputation preceded him—one of the wealthiest, most influential businessmen globally, though he preferred to keep a low profile.
Approaching the front desk, he spoke in a firm, no-nonsense tone.
“I’m here to see Serena Winthrop.”
The officer at the desk blinked in surprise but quickly composed himself.
“Uh, yes, sir. Right this way.”
Steve was escorted down the dimly lit corridor to a small holding room where Serena sat on a hard metal chair, her arms crossed over her chest, her face pale but defiant.
The moment she saw Steve, relief flooded her expression.
“Steve,” she breathed, standing up.
He walked straight to her, his eyes dark with anger—not at her, but at the situation.
“What happened?” he demanded, his voice low but intense.
Serena let out a shaky breath.
“They arrested me for causing Kate’s miscarriage. It’s ridiculous. I didn’t do anything.”
Steve’s jaw clenched.
“The Winters, huh? They’re doing too much.”
The Winters think they can mess with Serena just because she’s alone? They’re about to find out how wrong they are.
“They’re trying to ruin me,” Serena whispered, her voice trembling. “And they’re using their influence to do it.”
Steve turned to the officer who had escorted him.
“I want to speak to the police chief. Now.”
The officer nodded quickly and led Steve to the chief’s office. Steve didn’t waste time with pleasantries.
“I’m here regarding Serena Winthrop’s arrest,” he said sharply. “She’s being held on baseless accusations.”
The police chief shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
“We received a formal complaint—”
“I don’t care about the complaint,” Steve interrupted. “This is a personal vendetta by the Winters. You’re holding an innocent woman.”
The chief hesitated. Steve leaned forward, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.
“I suggest you release her. Now.”
The chief swallowed hard, recognizing the weight of Steve’s influence. After a tense pause, he finally nodded.
“Very well, Sir. We’ll process her release.”
Within an hour, Serena was walking out of the station with Steve by her side.
She inhaled the cool night air deeply, grateful to be free.
As they reached his car, she turned to him.
“Thank you, Steve. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.”
Steve unlocked the car and opened the door for her.
“Don’t mention it,” he said as she slid in.
Once he was behind the wheel, he added, “But we need to put the Winters in their place. If we don’t, they’ll keep coming after you.”
Serena nodded slowly.
“You’re right. With all the scandals, my company’s reputation is hanging by a thread.”
“Then it’s time to fight back,” Steve said, starting the car. “No more playing nice.”
Serena stared out the window, her mind racing.
“It’s time to clear my name. For me, for Amy, and for everything I’ve worked so hard to build.”
And with that thought, the car disappeared into the night.
