Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 154
Enzo's POV
I had barely kicked off my shoes when Kael barged into my room, a wide, wicked grin plastered across his face. He leaned casually against the doorframe, arms crossed, like he owned the place, and his eyes sparkled with that teasing fire he always carried.
“Well, well, well,” he said, voice dripping amusement. “If it isn’t the so-called Alpha, looking all… alpha-ish. And, I might add, radiating a certain happiness today.”
I raised an eyebrow, already guessing where this was going. “Happiness, huh? Care to elaborate, or are we doing the usual foreplay of verbal torture?”
Kael’s smirk widened, and he took a deliberate step inside, plopping onto the edge of my bed. “Oh, come on, Enzo. You know exactly what I mean. You and Lisa… really made a couple, didn’t you?”
I couldn’t help but chuckle. Even though I knew he was pushing, there was something infectious about the way he said it. I threw my head back and laughed loud, full, letting it rumble through the room. “You’ve got a gift, Kael. A real gift for stating the obvious in the most theatrical way possible.”
He leaned closer, lowering his voice conspiratorially. “I’m not just stating the obvious. I’m confirming it. Atlas confirmed it, too.”
At that moment, Atlas strolled in like he owned every inch of the room, his hands tucked casually in his pockets, a smirk on his lips that promised trouble. “Confirmed what?” he drawled. “I’m curious now.”
Kael pointed at me dramatically. “Enzo here, my dear brother, has officially gone soft. Head over heels, in love, wrapped around Lisa’s little finger.”
Atlas chuckled, sitting down across from us, elbows on his knees. “I’ve been saying that for weeks. You didn’t want to admit it, but come on… the way you look at her? It’s painfully obvious.”
I groaned, falling back onto the bed with my hands over my face, but the grin didn’t leave me. “Oh, you two are relentless. I should’ve known walking into a room with both of you together would feel like walking into a trap. I didn’t need this confirmation.”
Kael laughed, a loud, free laugh that echoed around the room. “Relax. We’re just having fun. Besides, it’s hilarious watching the mighty Enzo squirm. Honestly, you need to play the game well if you want to fool the person you’re playing as. You can’t just let your feelings leak like that.”
Atlas shook his head, laughing along. “He’s right. You’ve got to keep your guard up. Lisa isn’t stupid, you know. She notices everything—every shift in your tone, every lingering glance. You want to be the Alpha, sure, but you also want to keep the game going.”
I rolled onto my side, propping my head on one hand, staring at both of them. “The game? You mean the one where I pretend to be disinterested while secretly losing my mind every time she smiles at me?” I gave them both a pointed look, a mixture of mock threat and amusement. “I think you underestimate just how exhausting that can be.”
Kael threw his head back, laughing even harder. “Exhausting? Oh, Enzo, it’s priceless! Every time she thinks she’s clever, every time she imagines she’s found her missing ribs, we just sit back and watch.”
Atlas snorted. “Her missing ribs? Really? That’s how you describe it?”
Kael waved him off. “Hey, it’s a metaphor, genius. You know, the way she looks when she thinks she’s finally figured out the whole Enzo puzzle? That smug little smile. Precious.”
I groaned again, burying my face into the pillow this time. “You two are insufferable. You realize that, right?”
“Insufferable?” Kael echoed. “We’re entertaining. You should be thanking us. And honestly, this is one of the first times we get to see you genuinely… human. Vulnerable, even. You might not admit it, but it’s amusing.”
Atlas leaned back against the wall, arms crossed, eyes gleaming. “Amusing is an understatement. It’s downright entertaining. Especially watching you try to navigate her moods while keeping that stoic Alpha facade intact.”
I peeked at them from under the pillow, my lips twitching despite myself. “You two sound like a couple of old women at a tea party.”
Kael snorted. “Old women who know exactly what’s going on. And you, my dear brother, are hopelessly entangled. Admit it.”
I sat up, throwing the pillow at him, which he caught effortlessly with a laugh. “Fine! I admit it. There. Happy now? I like her. There. That’s the truth you’ve been waiting for.”
Atlas clapped slowly, mockingly. “Bravo. Truly shocking. Who would’ve guessed Enzo has a heart under all that Alpha armor?”
I shook my head, laughing despite myself. “Don’t encourage him, Atlas.”
“Encouragement is what you need,” Atlas replied with a grin. “You’ve got to play the game smart. Don’t let her think she’s got the upper hand.”
Kael leaned forward, eyes gleaming with mischief. “Oh, she’s already thinking she has the upper hand. That little smirk she gives when she thinks she’s figured you out? That’s her claiming victory in the chess game. You can’t let her win, Enzo. Not yet.”
I groaned, burying my face in my hands. “I swear, you two are sadistic sometimes. Honestly, who sits around devising ways to tease me about Lisa?”
Atlas chuckled, shaking his head. “We do. And you love it. Admit it, Enzo.”
I peeked at him through my fingers, and, damn it, they were right. I did love it. Even with all their teasing, all the laughter at my expense, it warmed something inside me to hear them talk about her, about how she affected me. How she could make me laugh, and groan, and feel… completely off balance.
Kael leaned closer, whispering conspiratorially. “And just imagine the look on her face when she realizes she’s got you wrapped around her finger. Priceless.”
I groaned audibly, pushing his shoulder. “Stop. Stop! You’re both impossible.”
Atlas chuckled again, standing and pacing slowly. “You’re not imagining things, Enzo. Every time she walks into the room, every time she smiles, it’s like gravity shifts. You feel it too. The others feel it. And now, you’ve got Kael using it as fuel for his amusement.”
I rubbed my temples, leaning back against the wall. “This is exhausting just listening to you two dissecting everything I feel. I don’t even know if I’m tired from all this or if it’s from just thinking about her.”
Kael leaned back on the bed, arms behind his head, smirking. “See? That’s why it’s fun. You can’t hide from it. You’re completely tangled in her orbit, and you’re not even pretending to resist anymore.”
I laughed, shaking my head. “I might be tangling, but I’m also careful. Strategic. I don’t just let things happen without thinking.”
Atlas stopped pacing and turned toward me. “Strategic? You’re losing your edge. That little heart of yours is showing, Enzo. You can pretend, but we see it. All of us.”
I rolled my eyes. “Yes, yes, my heart is out there, vulnerable, like I asked for commentary. Can we move on?”
Kael grinned, still lying on the bed. “Move on? We’re just getting started. This is entertainment. And Lisa? She has no idea how much you’re tangled up in her game. Which, honestly, is hilarious. She thinks she’s figured out the puzzle, but little does she know, she’s only found the first piece.”
I shook my head, laughter spilling out of me despite my mock frustration. “You two are insufferable.”
“And yet,” Atlas said softly, almost teasing, almost serious, “we wouldn’t be if you didn’t enjoy every second of it. Admit it. You like hearing this.”
I couldn’t deny it. And as much as I tried to hide it, the warmth that spread through me at their words, at the way they laughed and teased, at the way they poked at the tension between me and Lisa, made me grin despite myself.
Kael leaned forward, voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Honestly, Enzo, you need to stop pretending she hasn’t completely claimed you. It’s written all over your face.”
I groaned, burying my face in my hands again. “Why do you two have to make this so impossible?”
“Because we can,” Atlas said simply, grinning. “And because we know it’s fun watching you squirm.”
I peeked at them again, trying to maintain my composure. “You’re both impossible,” I muttered, shaking my head. “I swear, if she ever finds out how much you’re laughing at me—”
Kael chuckled. “She’ll find out eventually. But until then? Enjoy the chaos, Enzo. You’re the main character in her story, and she’s got no idea just how much she’s already got you under her spell.”
I exhaled, leaning back, closing my eyes for a moment. And somewhere deep down, despite all the teasing, all the laughter, all the jokes about missing ribs and winning and losing, I smiled.
Because yeah… they were right. I was completely tangled in her orbit. And I wasn’t even trying to hide it anymore.
