Rejected By My Mate; Claimed By Lycan Quadruplets Chapter 300
Serena had barely taken another sip of her wine when she felt a presence behind her.
She didn’t need to turn around to know who it was—the air had suddenly shifted, charged with hostility.
But when she did turn, her eyes met Kate’s, who was standing there, arms crossed, a wicked grin curling her lips.
“Well, well, well,” Kate drawled, loud enough for the people around them to hear.
“If it isn’t the queen of pretenders, acting like she belongs here.”
Serena exhaled sharply, already exhausted.
She had no intention of engaging in whatever childish drama Kate was trying to start.
So, she simply turned her gaze away, focusing on her drink, as if Kate wasn’t worth a second of her attention.
But that only poured fuel onto the fire.
Kate’s smirk faltered, her fingers tightening into fists.
“Are you deaf, Serena?” she hissed. “Or are you just acting like you’re too important to acknowledge me? Oh wow, I can’t believe that with this cheap dress of yours, you would try to act this way.”
Serena remained silent, swirling the drink in her glass, her expression unreadable.
More people had started to take notice, heads turning toward the rising tension.
The music in the background continued, but now, whispers filled the air, eyes flickering between the two women.
Kate stepped closer, her voice dripping with mockery.
“Oh, I see. You think ignoring me makes you look powerful? Makes you look untouchable?” She laughed bitterly, shaking her head.
“Newsflash, Serena—you’re nothing but a pathetic woman who got lucky. A woman who had slurred her way into married men's beds just to build a company and be called a bitchy CEO.”
The words made the crowd erupt in loud noises as they just couldn’t believe what they were hearing.
Many brought out their cell phones and began recording the scene.
“I’m selling this to the media, I’m going to make huge money from it.” A lady mumbles to her friend and they both chuckled.
“That’s so right.” Her friend replied back, grinning from ear to ear.
Serena sighed, taking another sip of her wine, still refusing to respond to Kate. To her, silence is the best answer given to a fool and Kate was the fool!
The lack of reaction made Kate’s blood boil in rage. She felt like just strangling Serena. She just couldn’t because all eyes were on them and she can’t risk going to jail because of Serena.
“You think you’re better than me?” she spat.
“You think just because you sit at the head of a company, you’re superior? That your past doesn’t stink? Because, let me tell you, Serena, it stinks! The fact that you satisfy men for money, stinks too bad that I feel like throwing up right now.”
Gasps filled the air.
More people had gathered now, whispering, waiting for Serena’s response.
But still, she said nothing.
Kate’s eyes burned with fury.
“ANSWER ME, YOU PATHETIC—”
“Enough.”
A deep, commanding voice sliced through the tension, making everyone turn.
Ryan.
He stepped in between them, his jaw clenched, his gaze flickering toward Serena before settling on Kate.
His patience had snapped.
“What the hell are you doing?” Ryan’s voice was low and controlled, but the sharpness of it cut through Kate like a blade.
Kate, ever the actress, immediately changed her expression.
Her lips trembled, her eyes shimmered, and before anyone could blink, she let out a small, shaky breath and clutched her stomach.
“Ryan,” she whispered, voice breaking. “She—she slapped me first.”
A wave of murmurs swept through the crowd.
Ryan’s expression darkened. “What?”
Kate nodded quickly, her eyes wide with innocence.
“I just came to talk to her, and out of nowhere, she—she hit me! I got angry, yes, but only because she disrespected me first. And now…” she winced, placing a hand on her stomach, “I—I think the stress is affecting the baby…”
Ryan’s body went rigid.
His fists tightened, his anger shifting, his mind racing.
He had stepped in to stop Kate from embarrassing them both—but now? If Serena had truly harmed Kate, if their child was at risk…
His jaw clenched.
Serena simply raised a brow, her expression unbothered.
Ryan turned to her.
“Did you hit her?” His tone was cold, but there was something else in his eyes—a silent hope that she would say no.
Serena tilted her head, then smirked.
“If I did, she’d be on the floor by now. Probably struggling to breathe while you try your very best to revive her,” she said simply, her eyes staring right straight into Ryan’s eyes, nor wavering..
Kate let out a dramatic gasp, gripping Ryan’s arm as if in shock.
“Oh my Goodness,” she whimpered, “she’s mocking me, Ryan!”
Ryan’s patience snapped.
“That’s Enough, Kate!” he growled, grabbing her wrist.
Kate let out a soft yelp, her expression shifting into one of delicate helplessness. “Ryan—”
“We’re leaving right now,” he cut her off.
And with that, he dragged her away, not wanting to cause a bigger scene.
Serena simply watched them go, her smirk never fading and she didn’t mind the fact that people were still staring at her.
As soon as the tension died down, Serena felt a hand on her shoulder.
She turned to see Mr. Carter—the host of the night and one of her biggest clients.
“I apologize for the unnecessary disturbance,” he said smoothly.
Serena smiled politely, brushing off the incident. “No worries, Mr. Carter. Shall we discuss the project?”
He nodded, gesturing toward the grand staircase. “Let’s move somewhere quieter.”
Serena followed him up the stairs, past the glittering chandeliers, to an exclusive private area on the top floor.
A round table with two chairs sat in the middle of the dimly lit room, offering a perfect view of the ballroom below.
Mr. Carter pulled out a chair for her.
“Please, sit,” he offered.
Serena sat down, crossing her legs elegantly as he took his seat across from her.
“Before we start,” Mr. Carter said, lifting a glass of whiskey, “how about a drink?”
A waiter arrived, setting a glass of wine in front of Serena.
She hesitated for a second but then shrugged.
“Why not?” she murmured, picking up the glass and taking a sip.
The liquid was smooth, rich with a hint of spice.
She placed the glass down and leaned forward. “So, tell me about this project.”
Mr. Carter smiled. “Ah, yes. The project.”
He began talking, detailing plans, budgets, and design expectations.
But as he spoke, Serena felt something strange.
Her head swayed slightly.
Her vision blurred for a split second.
She blinked rapidly, trying to refocus.
“…the materials will be imported from Italy,” Mr. Carter continued, seemingly unfazed.
Serena’s fingers gripped the table. Something wasn’t right.
Her heartbeat was slowing, her breath coming out in shorter, heavier puffs.
She lifted her hand, trying to reach for her glass of water, but her fingers felt numb.
“…we expect the final designs to be submitted by the end of next month,” Mr. Carter went on.
Serena’s ears started ringing.
Her body swayed slightly, her eyelids growing heavier.
Something was terribly wrong.
Her lips parted to speak, but no words came out.
Mr. Carter simply continued, acting as if nothing was happening.
Serena tried to push herself up, but her legs refused to cooperate.
Her vision darkened.
The last thing she saw was Mr. Carter’s face, smiling calmly.
Then—
Darkness.
Somewhere nearby, footsteps echoed.
Two men stepped out of the shadows.
Mr. Carter, now standing, simply tilted his head toward Serena’s unconscious body.
The two men nodded, stepping forward.
Silently, they lifted Serena’s limp form and carried her toward an unknown room.
Meanwhile, Mr. Carter pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
The moment the call connected, he spoke in a hushed voice.
“It’s done.”
