The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 100: CHAPTER HUNDRED

My so-called mother was staring at me with a look of annoyance as she approached me from the room I'd been waiting in front of for a while now.

Her tone was harsh and I could deduce from it that she'd rather be doing anything else than talking to me but I didn't care.

“I understand that you guys don't like me that much and honestly, it hurts like crap but I'm used to pain from the people who are supposed to love me. What I would like is to go back to my pack. At least they respect me back there and won't ground me for not allowing blood poachers to kidnap me,” I told her, my tone leveled but my voice was very clear. I wasn't scared of her anymore.

As she opened her mouth to respond to me, the King walked out as well wearing a thick, black robe.

“What is this about? Blood poachers can't get into this kingdom. No one would let them in, so stop lying” He grumbled, and it was obvious he had sent her to deal with me and only came out because I mentioned the blood poachers.

“Well, thankfully I didn't kill him. He's with the healers and you can interrogate him later. I just want to be out of here in the morning and I'm hoping you won't stop me. That's why I came up here. Good night,” I snapped and turned around to leave but they stopped me.

“Young lady, stop there! Who do you think you are, talking to us like that?” My mother asked, her face getting really angry.

“You really don't need to treat me like a child. You never wanted me, and I can't for my life figure out why so I want to be out of your hair. And you don't have to worry, whenever you need my help, I'll come with Lyra. I'm bound to her and she to you so I understand what that means but I need to leave,” I replied, rubbing my aching chest absentmindedly.

“What your mother was trying to tell you is that you don't get to decide that. We will investigate the man as you have said and deal with him accordingly but you are not going anywhere,” my father declared, his nostrils flaring in anger.

“But why? You obviously don't want me here, you've never wanted to be a part of my life and the first time you meet me, you're making it impossible for us to have any sort of relationship so why keep me here?” I asked, raising my voice as I was close to tears and frustration.

“It doesn't matter what you want, Aurora. You'll go back to your room willingly or I'll have the guards escort you by force!” The King commanded and the tears that had been at bay free fell from my eyes.

“But why do you guys hate me so much? I'll go back on my own and wait for whatever reason it is that you want but please tell me what I did wrong. I deserve to know!” I demanded in tears.

They looked at each other and my mother turned around angrily and walked back inside but my father walked closer to me, an odd expression on his face.

“Hate you? I wish I could hate you but more like disappointed in you. One would expect that after killing your own twin brother in the womb, that you'll be something special and the world would bow at your feet, making this war unnecessary but look at you, puny and weak!” He sneered, his words stabbing my heart.

“I had a twin brother? What do you mean? How could I have killed him? I was a child!” I screamed in frustration but it was like pouring water on stone, my father still had that disapproving look on his face, like I was a pure disappointment.

“Of course you won't take responsibility for your actions. We sent you out there so you can get stronger and be half the King he could have been but we're still disappointed. Go to your room and make sure you don't miss a day of training or I'll be forced to give you serious punishment when I get back!” He shouted at me, his outstretched hand pointing to the direction I was coming from.

I cleaned my tears and retreated and I felt Lyra in my head as she prodded through my memories for the reason I was in tears.

“They're just mourning what could have been and taking it out on you. Ignore them as much as you can, okay?” She said to me but I was past beyond the point of holding back my tears, as I walked into the room that looked nothing like me, I broke down in tears, bawling my eyes out at the hand I was dealt.

“It doesn't make any sense, Lyra. I also missed out on the chance to have a brother. Not only was he taken from me, I also lost the chance to have parents and the love that came with it. Why must they treat me with such distaste? I didn't kill him, I couldn't have,” I cried out, my heart hurting from the pain.

“None of this is your fault. Scarlett used to blame you too, you know. Dragons and their kin deal with pain differently, that's why they kill themselves when their rider dies so suddenly. I was hoping that now that you're grown, they'll get over it but I was wrong. I'm sorry for bringing you back,”

“It's unfair. It's so unfair,” I sobbed out loud, my knees hitting the ground as I cried out uncontrollably.

I could have had a happy life, a twin brother, parents that would dote on us, a kingdom that would love us and as we grew, we'd be trained to take back our place in a world that was scared of us.

But no, I was beaten, tortured, used for financial aid and right when I thought I'd escaped that life, I was thrown back into a reality that was too bleak for an escape.

All of the comfort Lyra poured into our link wasn't enough.

In this moment, I wished for nothing more than the embrace of my mates.

At least they loved me even if it was because of a bond but they did. The people that gave birth to me also had a bond with me but they decided to blame me for something I had no hand in. I was more than heartbroken.

I picked myself up from the ground I'd fallen to and walked to the big bed.

I wrapped myself in the thick, pink duvet and cried myself to sleep, mourning the life I'll never have.
