Axel came in and the scene made him open his mouth in a mix of several emotions, prominent amongst them being shock

I wasn't going to let him ruin my happiness so I quickly came down from the table and began to dress up.

“Baby, calm down. I'm sure he has a proper explanation, right brother?” Kane asked, helping me zip my shirt.

Axel’s face was quite readable as his surprise for the endearment visibly outweighed his feeling of remorse but I wasn't having it.

“He doesn't need to. I'm not interested. You said you were leaving immediately, aren't you going to address the pack or something?”

“I did earlier while releasing Cameron to my sister. They are also aware that my half brother is back. Axel will stay back while I and Ares leave. He needs to go back to his pack, they're beginning to feel jealous,” he laughed at his own joke.

“Why him? Can't Axel go instead?” I complained.

“He's the one in charge of the people, I'm just handling security and stuff. He needs to go,” Axel butted in

“I wasn't talking to you,” I snapped and I almost felt sorry for him as he looked at me like I had kicked him in his soft zone but I remembered how he sat there and allowed Elena to touch him and kiss him and my pity took flight and disappeared.

“But, Momma, he's right. It’s a brains and aura team are operating back in NightShade. He's the brain and can work from anywhere but I need to be there so I can keep everyone loyal and in line. I've been slacking recently so I need to get back, I'll call you everyday and you can come to the pack once this old oaf gets back,” he jokes, roughing up Kane's hair.

It was like I slept and woke up to a different dimension. They were so carefree with each other now.

“Isn't there a way the two packs can become one? I mean, not immediately but over time. The whole back and forth, I don't like it,”

They looked at each other like I had said something bad.

“It's okay if you don't want that. It was just a suggestion, I'm sorry.” I said, feeling terrible even though I didn't know what I did wrong.

“Oh no baby, you're absolutely right. We just never thought of it ourselves and didn't think it was possible. We'll look more into it once I get back. Now, promise me you are going to give Axel a listening ear, okay? Please?”

“Fine! But I'll soon learn how to say no to you one day,” I grumbled

“Never!” He said, smacking my ass and taking my hand.

I gave Axel the stink eye as we walked out, I didn't care if I was being childish. He started it.

As we walked, people were giving us creepy smiles over and over again. Kane was talking to as many people as possible, hugging them and I could see the shock on their faces afterwards, they weren't used to this side of him. I guess I'm living in another dimension and I have no plans to leave.

“But why are they looking at us like that?” I wondered out loud.

“Because y'all reel of sex. Couldn't be bothered to at least take a damn bath, brother?” I heard and we all turned around to Kane’s infamous brother.

This time, his short form was wearing gray sweatpants and a T-shirt. I can't explain why but I didn't like him or his self-assured smile. He was constantly smirking, reminding me of Kane's words about him playing tricks all the time. To me, he was simply wasting his powers.

“If you ever understand what it means to be an Alpha, you won't think about it that way. Baby, ignore him. We're boosting the fertility of the pack and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, okay?” He said to me, giving me a peck on the head.

“You are about to leave your mate in my hands, I don't think it's a good idea to foster enemity between us.”

“I'm not leaving my mate in your hands, nor anything for that matter. She is the Luna and can take care of the pack in my absence and to assist her is someone who has been more of a brother to me than you'll ever be. Axel. He's going to make sure you don't cross your boundaries as you are known to do,” Kane snapped, the hostility between them showing.

I robbed his chest, trying to get him to calm down as this was delaying him. We didn't want the council coming over here and he had wasted enough time.

“Baby, ignore him. You need to get going. I'll miss you so much.”

“I'll miss you too baby. I wish we were going together,” he responded, hugging me tightly.

“When do you think you'll be back”

“I won't be gone long. A week at most but hopefully in four days time. Be a good girl and remember your promise, okay?”

“Fine, I'll listen to him. Call me,” I said as he got into the car where they gave me my first orgasm and I and almost the entire pack which had come to see him off waved at him

“Forgotten me so soon?” Ares says as he dropped his bags in the boot and came to me.

“What? Never! It's just you are going home and he's going into enemy territory. I'm really scared,” I confided in him.

“Don't worry about him, we did a lot of training and planning in case things go south. I'll miss you so much Momma. I can't wait for you to come to NightShade,” he said as he hugged me, my heart nearly breaking at their impending absence.

“I'm missing you already,” I croaked, tears threatening to fall.

“Don't cry, please. We'll see each other very soon, okay?” He said as he kissed me.

He got into the car as well and Kane’s Delta drove out, and I stood there watching them leave, even as everyone else went back to their homes and duties.

Well, almost everyone.

Kane’s half brother stood there, watching me like a creep.

I cleaned my eyes and turned to face him.

“Is there a problem?” I asked irritably.

“From me? Far from it. In fact, I think you and I are gonna have a fun few days,” he said with a wink and walked away, leaving me stunned.
