The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 140: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY
Hearing her voice in my mind put my hopes and excitement at an all time high. I had totally given up on being rescued and was trying to look for a way out by myself but hearing her voice meant she actually went to get help.
“Girl, did your hair finish halfway or something?” she joked and i could feel the distance between us closing, making me panic. What if she got shot with one of these terrifying diseases Leti cia had designed?
“I slept off along the way, I didn't think it'd work. Did you manage to get help?” I asked, hoping this whole war can be nipped at the bud.
“Yea, Scarlett, the twin Alphas and their pack too. We're going to rescue you, okay?” she said to me and the excitement in her voice mirrored mine as i’d missed her so much.
I walked down the path, staying out of view to avoid suspicion. As much as half of the camp were plotting against her, there were the other half that were completely enamored with her.
'“Great. Tell them to pause, okay? The army you came with would be enough if we were dealing with a normal supernatural,”
“Wait, what? I can't hear you clearly,” she said, shocking me. The connection was still strong and I could hear her clearly so I didn't understand the interruption.
I walked in the direction that she was in, slowly to avoid rousing suspicion.
“Can you hear me, Lyra? Tell them to come with mirrors, okay? Just like when we used fires, we need a lot of mirrors, do you hear me?" I screamed as loud as possible, hoping she'd heard me.
I waited for her response but what I got instead was a splitting headache that made me scream out in pain.
Even Scarlett's attempt to reach me made everything worse and grabbed my hair, looking for any form of escape from the pain in my head.
“Ma’am, what is wrong?” a warlock asked me, a small crowd beginning to gather as I crouched on the ground in pain.
“Give the traitor space, she needs to breathe properly. It'll be her very last,” I heard the icy, unmistakable voice of my foster mother.
“What are you talking about? I did everything you asked!” I shouted, pain coursing through my brain from whatever she was doing.
“You told me your mates were no longer with you so who were you mind linking?!” she screamed, coming fully into my view, her white dress rolling through the mud.
It was obvious she had figured out that I knew what she did with juno earlier today and the idea of me lying to her made her livid.
“Yes, but that wasn't my mate,” I moaned in pain. The pain was getting worse because Lyra was still trying so hard to connect with me. All I could do was scream into her mind, maybe she’ll get the message and all of this pain wouldn’t be in vain.
“Then who was it, huh?! she shouted, her voice grating on my already pounding head.
I didn’t want to tell anyone about my dragon but I couldn't come up with any lie in my current predicament so I just spluttered it.
She burst out in laughter.
“You? A dragon? You must think I'm a fool!” she exclaimed with a mocking laugh.
“What do you mean? Where did you think all the fire was coming from?” I snapped, the pain finally getting easier to bear.
I stood up slowly from the ground where I'd been crouched and rose to see her face filled with fear.
The moment our eyes met, she quickly hid the emotion, flipping to anger instead.
“Anyways, it doesn't matter what you have or who you're with. You're going to die, I don't have the time to cater to some insolent backstabber,” she snarled in my face, her anger showing.
“But…but…” I tried to come up with something to derail her plans, my emotions finally connecting.
I was in full panic mode and it seemed this would be my last day on earth because she wasn't like any other supernatural and I'd seen her kill for way less, men who had sworn allegiance to her.
“Begging will do you no good, hm? I don't take kindly to betrayers. Besides, once I kill you, your little friends won't have any reason to try and interrupt my plans. Hey you, take her to the river and drown her,” she commanded her minions.
“Wait, let's talk about this. My dragon can help you with your war,” I begged, hoping she'll change her mind.
“You should have mentioned that in the beginning but you never wanted to rule alongside me and here I was, happy that I'd gotten a daughter. I'm heartbroken and angry, so no mercy for you,” she said, a tear dropping from her eyes.
As no one moved to obey her instructions, I watched her eyes change from their glittering blue to obsidian black and immediately, the men who had been planning against her suddenly ran towards me and grabbed me even before I could take a step away from where I was.
“Don't come back until you're sure she has drowned!” She commanded as they carried my screaming and begging form to the river at the end of our camp.
I'd been there before and I knew how deep it ran, which made sense considering Leticia's true form.
I've never imagined this was how I'll die and as I cried and begged my captors, it occurred to me that I'd never learned how to swim.
“Guys please, you can resist this, okay? Just look at each other's eyes or something!” I begged, desperately clinging to the hope of someone snapping out of the hold she had on them.
From the distance, I noticed she still stood, watching us with black eyes as I was carried to my death. Even though she looked sad, all my pleas fell on deaf ears.
I was begging, but I knew she had never loved me and all she saw was a tool she could use to further her agenda and now that it was obvious we're not of the same mindset, I was of no use to her.
In a last attempt at clinging to my endangered life, I tried connecting to my dragon again, but I was too weak to say anything, so I didn't.
She was me, and I was her, just in separate forms and thankfully Leticia was more focused on killing me than blocking my link with Lyra, giving her the space to go through my mind. It felt weird as she coursed through it after the mental pain we'd been through.
But I knew before she'd fly all the way here to rescue me, I'd be deep in the belly of that black river and away from life.
As we got closer to the edge, I noticed the men were a little less lethargic than they were before. A sliver of hope creeped into me, hoping they'd won the mental war and wouldn't toss me into the river, but it was only a momentary lapse as before I could say anything, they threw me into the unforgiving depths of the river that circulated the supernatural world.
I screamed, loud and scared, pain ricocheting through me as my body hit the water.
The harsh waves carried me regardless of my attempts to keep myself afloat.
“Aurora, please fight harder, I'm close by!” I heard Lyra's voice and as I finally gave up, too weak to keep trying at something I didn't even know how to do, I was happy she was the last voice i got to hear and i knew that the revenge she'd wreck on my behalf would be so massive that Tartarus itself will know my name.
